Dude I just bought the DLC for my Fable II, the 5-6 DLC for Oblivion, the DLC for GTA, and Two DLC for Two Worlds.
People are going crazy for no reason.
A FPS game with DLC that you pay for through Microsoft points is nothing new and honestly I think it's for the best since Console gamers don't seem like the type that would pay monthly for a FPS when they have Halo and CoD4 to mess with.
Wow, I have to applaud CCP and their strategy to bring in not only the console crowd, but the FPS community as well. I look forward to hearing more about this as it develops and seeing what console(s) it will be relased for.
"If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike"
"This sucks. I'd rather pay 15$ a month when the alternative is microtransactions."
Same here
They hinted on the possibility for a voluntary subscription that would give you access to all the things microtransactions would otherwise do. But I would assume most details are like that are not decided yet as release are at least a year away.
That's not good enough for me. The problem isn't just other players having something that I dont, but also if I have something others dont. They may state that you wont be buying "win"-items, but they have to give something if they want it to become a real income... and any advantage(no matter how small) is a game breaker for me.
Some may think I'm overreacting considering we dont know much yet, but I just hate microtransactions so terribly much because suddenly you start thinking about the payment while you are playing, rather than something that is beyond the game. It becomes an effective immersion breaker.
Don't worry about it. There will be lots of other games for you play. You can have fun elsewhere while we have fun in Dust and everyone gets to be happy.
Havent gamed alot lately due to work and recently bought a ps3. This is a title ill deffo buy on the ps3. Maybe one day ill stop using my pc for games.

If you cant be bothered to make an intelligent response like Mcgreag, you should not bother yourself writing at all.
This is sounding more and more intriguing. The only things that bothers me are the MTs (I hate them with a passion ) and the console-only (this should be both console AND PC!), but I guess I'll just have to live with it. I'm planning on buying my first console within the next few months anyway, so that drawback, at least for me, is a moot point, but I'm sure there are countless PC gamers who don't own a console but would love to give Dust 514 a go.
The biggest news for me is the housing! GAWD I hope they get it right with free-form placement of items and some type of hybrid between instance and 'real-world' placement! If they do, and if they ever get ambulation for EVE and the COSMOS allows cross-communication between EVE and Dust, I may never play another game!
I'm making my plans now...
Console hookup through my media PC to my big screen with surround-sound running Dust 514
Two puters with 32in widescreen monitors each running a seperate EVE account (may have to add a third)
Everything connected wireless to my 'command center' easychair-recliner
Dorm fridge with coffee maker on top next to the chair
Wonder how hard it would be to hook up a porcelin throne beneath my recliner
Hmmmm. I either need a life or better get used to being a recluse.

The poster said that the free-to-play with item shop model was a deal breaker. He shouldn't worry about it, if it's a deal breaker then its a deal breaker. Nor should anyone else worry about him finding it a deal breaker.
I don't have any problem with Mcgeag's post; it's an honest and straightforward 'we don't know how it will work'. I'm not sure about your post though. What exactly was it's contribution to the thread?
With this game being another online Shooter with no monthly fee many more players will have access to it.
When I first heard of this game I thought it would crash and burn as a P2p MMo on consoles.
Now it's going to be golden.
This thing could be the next Halo or CoD4 As for the micro transactions im sure it will probably only be DLC with new blueprints and maps similar to what other FPS games offer for 5-10 bucks.
Depends on the type of DLC, I'm pretty sure they won't make you buy DLC for a planet that you have to fly to in order to complete a contract because that would just break the game. I think real world money would be spent more on weapon/vehicle blueprints and upgrade blueprints which makes alot of sense and as an eve player I know alot of eve players will embrace the option because you may not have to buy the blueprint again for another few months or maybe never depending on if its an original or a copy.

to bring the PC and the gaming consoles together is a nice idea. a mulitplatform release would be the best: to board an enemy ship should be fun.

This is not a game.
