which is the best melee class and which is the best race to go with it?

    Pally, just any race that you enjoy, though humans have gain more rep with factions...

    Agreed on Pally, Human or Blood Elf.  Decent DPS and insane survivability.

    Well if you want to play as a Paladin on the Horde side, I believe your only option at the present moment is choosing Blood Elf. And if you're a girl, prepare to be hassled. I've been playing as one for the last two days and the first day, some guy kept following me around killing stuff I was attacking. Another guy joined him later and they both insisted that I "stay back" because they were "helping me". Funnily enough, they got killed and I didn't.

    My main is a Paladin but she's Holy. Still pretty tough to take down. I think it took about 3 or 4 Horde players to actually kill me in Warsong Gultch and I can still do a pretty decent amount of damage. XD

    Best melee for what purpose?  Questing, raiding, pvp, etc?

    Human warrior if you can play, rogue for everything else.
