Looking for some knowledge

I'll just set this up in a question format.

1) Do you need to spend AP to craft? In other words do you need to assign skill points to craft well?

2) What are quest rewards like? Are there any at all?

3) How big is your inventory? Any comparisons are welcome.

4) Is melee generally considered a neccassary skill along with a gun skill?

5) Are there interactable objects in the game world?

That's all. Thanks for your input.

    1. You have to increase Intelligence and Perception to raise the ceiling for you crafting skills (crafting skill goes up through use) Stats cost 5 AP per if i recall correctly.

    2. Quest rewards at the beginning are recipe books, guns, ammo, AP, faction, and chips (money). Later on it becomes mainly faction and chips.

    3. You have a limited amount of slots for inventory (30?) Your mount/vehicle also has a limited amount of slots. Items of a similar type do stack. There is a weight limit for both yourself and your mount.

    4. I meleed from beginning to end in beta. Many people advocate a melee first, guns later approach.

    5. Interactable objects...no. Standard interaction, harvest node, kill mob, etc.

Yes you will have to do that. More so when you progress in the game than in the beginning.

AP points, gear, skillbooks, materials and a nice story to read.

Questrewards can in most cases be shared to an alt or your clan.

It will constantly get full... You will need to manage it and space is sparse. It's is made up with slots in conjunction with weight.
    4) Is melee generally considered a neccassary skill along with a gun skill?
I don't do melee. But I see alot of people using rifle and switching to melee weapons.
    5) Are there interactable objects in the game world?
Doors, chars and mission objects, sorry but I'm confused with your question.
That's all. Thanks for your input.
You'll get more and better on that one :D

    As an addition:

    1. The two attributes needed for crafting aren't exclusively for crafting only, they have other use.

    2. Most of the time it's chips (cash!). Some specific missions gives books (receipes). Some important missions gives you AP. Regular missions reward you with Gear and weapons too sometimes, and ammo.

    3. I personally run out of place faster than out of weight. While questing you get to loot a lot of different stuff and your bags ends up with one piece of each.

    5. Doors, chairs, mission objectives. Not much really.

You also have access to three(four) storage areas. Again limited space, but no weight limit. (four being the guild vault)

Thanks a lot for your answers. I'm currently downloading it and was confused about a few things. You all have helped a bunch.

    See ya in game!

    3) The 30 slot estimate above sounds about right in addition to the storage space on your mount or vehicle. You also have access to 2 different bank spaces that have 64 slots each. Sector bank can be accessed in any town that has a bank in a given sector (1, 2 or 3). Barter bank can only be accessed in towns that have it in a given sector. Additionally some towns, like Embry Crossroads, have their own town specific bank that offers up 64 more slots of storage.

    4) Melee isn't necessary by any means if you play smart. You'll have plenty of opportunity to gather the materials to make Zip gun ammo or crossbow bolts from scavenging from the start. Again, you just have to play smart and do things like taking a piece of paper and making a list of resources to keep an eye out for and keep it next to you and remembering to set your character up to craft alot of ammo right before you log out.

As far as combat goes you just have to try a few things out to see what works for you. It's not rocket science and it can be done. I have not put a single point into melee and the only times I've used them were when my minimum melee skill got up (your core Stats go up every level or 2) was high enough to used melee weapons that I found entertaining, such as the golf club and the 2X4 (wood plank). I only used them to kill low level prairie chickens to get meat for cooking and weak biologic chemical for other crafting needs.

Funny thing... in traditional fantasy MMO's I usually tend to like the hunter-type class... ie. the one with ranged combat.

In FE I have started with a melee character, to be developing for rifle later on.

Weird part is, now I'm level 14, but I am enjoying (realtime) melee so much, that I have started to doubt if I'll ever use guns in this game.... :D. Yeah, I know even to craft own guns is a minigame itself (soo complex!), but I'm at skill 61 in weaponry, and need only 1 piece of plastic to make my own kempo practice sword (48 dps, +6 to melee defence), so.... I'll stick to melee... just a little more.... :D

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.

lol... poor chickens... I'll sick the Vista onto you :P

I have to second this though - the bit about seeing what works for you not the bit about using golf clubs on prairie chickens - 'cause I was sure I would be a rifleman but (a) I sucked at using a rifle, and (b) found pistols much more fun.

Speaking of pistols, can anyone give me the ins and outs of dual wield advantages versus using a single pistol and aiming with both hands? I thought dual wield was the obvious better thing to do but now I am not sure. Ta. :)

Someone did some testing in beta with dual vs 2h melee and didn't come out with a definitive answer. He thought at the time dual wielding caused more glancing blows (less damage).

Somewhere on the boards Tiggs even posts that dual wielding has no DPS advantage. I really don't know if anyone has any correct answer.

I guess alerting Neo PETA would be the proper course, seeing as I'm 100% going Tech faction, lol! I'm telling you, though, the feeling of a 9 iron across the head of one of those chickens, or the resonating sound of the 2x4 bouncing off their body and the resulting "sqawk"...Ahh, you can't beat the feelin'!

As for the dual wield versus 2h question I've been kind of curious myself. One of my friends is facing this dilemma with his melee character and he too would like more information. I wonder if the location of the targeting reticle on the target (along with skill level) truly factors into whether the hit glances or not. It seems it does, and if does reliably, then it would look to be a matter of comparing delay time & DPS values.

Course, I'm no where near a scholar on this. If I can kill something (NPC) of my level with my current battle rifle or at least have it below 50% health before it gets to me I'm happy (which an opening sniper rifle shot + Puncture then switching to battle rifle and pelting it on the way in does the job; if it stays at range the the sniper rifle does the job just as well).
