Dont know if this has been brought up in the past but with the new expansion comming that includes all these new and fasinating upgrades "See Below"
Overhaul to mounts and new mounts:
"Mounts are being changed over to skills, not items. This means you will no longer be required to carry a mount in your inventory. In your skills panel, there will be a "mount" tab, which will list your current stable of mounts -- your horse, your other horse, your goat. And, because of mounts becoming skills, a number of issues with mounts will simply cease to exist: You will now be able to pass into instances and new zones while on your mount; you can now interact with NPCs (including vendors) from your mount; and you can now use emotes on your mount. In other mount news, there's a brand new goat, the Wild Goat.
You can have multiple horses. Each is a seperate skill, but there is no limit I am aware of on the number you can have. There will be a Dev Diary on the new system, so that should give you a ton of info when it's published.
NEW You can name mounts
Even more importantly, mounts are being made more functional. No longer will they simply move players around the game world quickly. With Siege of Mirkwood you can talk to an NPC on your mount, buy stuff from a vendor, cross land block boundaries, enter large spaces on horse without dismounting, emote on your horse -- you can even name your horse. If this isn't Turbine hinting at their next expansion's setting then they've got a pretty cruel sense of humor."

I was kinda woundering why they would not include like Mount armour... Metalsmiths could get the recipes as they do with working all armour to make everything from horse shoes to make your mount maby faster to armour inorder to take more hits while your traveling.... wouldnt that be something or maby they are just waiting for Rohan to come out and yes im a metalsmith who is poor and i think this may help my income

Yeah i wondered myself about nice equipment for horses. Saddles, blankets or as you say armor. Even appearance items like your avatar can have.
One step at a time fellas. If you look at the features and changes they just added, you will see a direct coloration to mounted combat there.

I personally see no correlation to mounted combat nor was i even talking about mounted combat... I was pointing out a way of making our dumb looking horses look better that was all. so far the patch has only stated you may speak, buy, and zone on horse back oh yea and Emote on them as well sorry forgot thats a big one i can smoke my pipe on the back of a horse nice for the RP aspect of the game. However, I personally have read nothing that is close to combat. If you could kindly point out what im missing that would be cool though I think mounted combat could be cool but havent seen it done correctly in any game.

If you read Turbines post about what abilities you can use while mounted, they clearly appear to hint mounted combat when they mentioned that combat skills can't be used on mounts.
Make it so...
So like I said there is no mounted combat and if you read my post you would have seen that I was talking about armor not combat....
Really? Ability use on a mount, animations now able to be triggered, interacting with server objects such as NPC's? That's a foundation for mounted combat. At least opening up the mechanics of mounts to be able to expand. This includes visual customization.

Being able to ride a horse is the foundation for everything you should have been able to zone on a horse and talk to NPC from the very begining. as for the hint of mount combat, Turbine states there is no mounted combat so how we got a hint of combat from there is no combat im really not quite sure. on alot games on you can talk, zone, and emote on mount this is nothing new. now if we are being the optomists thats cool to we can always hope for combat and armor.
