So I am not sure If I am the only one. But I left Darkfall in June in agony, basically limping away with the pain of Exploiters and hackers ruining one of the best games I have played. Finally a game that got mounted combat, skill systems and progression right and PvP OMG.
On a daily basis I was fighting teleport hackers and even managed to kill a few. I was very good at the game and had a record of somewhere around 300 kills and 90 deaths. Most to all of my deaths came from Acid Exploiters with 100 rigor. When they announced they would allow these exploiters to move their cheated character to the US server I almost broke my computer, had a Huge Rage session. I will never go back. Not untill they somehow give me 100 rigor to compete with the cheaters. When I have a .50 bow with 99(100) archery and 90's sharpshooter etc and dealing 18 damage in front 28 in back while they hit me for 40-50 damage with my 43 rigor that took 4 months to level. Sorry for the tangent.
My point is I have been following this game for a long time and just preordered it. Can anyone tell me if they feel we can expect the same cheating and exploiting in this game? Even if there will be hackers, I can deal with them but if there will be a skill that puts people in God Mode(MaxRigor) on max I will probably give up MMO gaming for the rest of my life.
Some helpful responses to this thread would be any links to Forum threads or MO forums threads about found exploits and bugs that they are fixing. There are a few things that can happen to not see this in MO such as launching the game without exploits and not having skills that create God Mode status. As I did for Darkfall I will also be posting my own unbiased opinion on this game and I am trying to get a head start on that.
Thanks!

Back on topic.
You won't find anything about third party clientside anticheating solutions implemented in MO. As it has already been shown, they are ineffective, and in game with big demand for hardware resources such anticheat would just unnecessarily eat resources.
But.
1. There won't be anything similar to rigor. In MO there's going to be skill cap.
So ... no über skilled avatars. Afaik DFo was supposed to have skill cap, but it turned out as a skill grinder
btw. basic skills are supposed to be maxed out within 2 weeks (imo for mmorpg geeks it will be couple days ; )
2. All skills and crucial game mechanisms are serverside. Problem may occur when it goes to fpv aspects of MO, as there are always some working cheats for fps based on UE like radars or aimbots. 2-3 months ago somebody developed a superjump cheat, but bug in unreal engine code, allowing to create such cheat, has been fixed.
I don't know if there are any working cheats, as nobody (knowing the mentality of mmorpg "players") will report it, until devs catch cheaters.
But as it goes to catching cheaters in flagrante, epic china developed piece of good netcode, allowing to gather plenty informations. Devs are developing log analyser and autoban system. Hope they will succeed, as MO is going to be latency vulnerable game, and it might turn out that autoban will do more harm.
They said about hiring quite large amount of GMs, so I expect to see them pretty often - not only standing still and chitchatting, but doing their job.
As it goes about giving up playing mmorpgs, that's the last mmoRPG game I'm going try for next 5 yrs. If it fails, nobody will ever try to make a sandbox fpv mmorpg.
I'll stay with ofps, and wait for a true mmofps, as planetside EU is dying.

Thanks a ton for your reply it was really helpful. You brought up a whole set of new different thoughts that have interest to me. I never took into account how the FPV will introduce problems not accustomed to the third person point and click MMO standard vets.
From counterstrike and other FPS games they have done a good job at implementing things like Punkbuster and other cheating tracking softwares, and I actually and very optimistic about these things being utilized to keep the game fair and hax free.
I have also read the change logs as I install the torrent and am Liking what I am seeing.
Planetside 2 has been said and I may also check that out.

I forgot to mention 1 obvious thing.
SV bought the rights to utilise unreal engine 3, so I don't expect bugs known from other games, to be found (like going through walls), as this engine contains imo the most advanced collision detection system.
AI is still being improved, so "cheats" like killing mobs by staying behind a tree, and not getting dmg shouldn't be possible anymore. Afair there was once the ability to do it, but has been fixed pretty fast
As it goes to anticheat software, punkbuster is the worst one I have ever had the possibility to see in action.
Imo, it's better to implement anti memory scanners and anti hooks natively inside the client (.exe), as it would automatically prevent from launching the game, or shut the game down when somebody starts an illegal program.
Beside cheaters, I hate laggers too. Especially those, who are downloading pr0n while playing. All torrent software should be automatically shut down during gameplay.
But that's a dead man wish.
About planetside, it's one of 2 (well...somebody told me 1 additional title) mmofps, but EU servers are dying, and I'm not interested in world war 2.Well, PS is 6 yrs old game, so it deserves to have a retirement
Rest of games which pretend to be massive online shooters (like APB or Huxley), are just a multiplayer games (up to 100 peeps in zone).
Planetside tended to gather even 500 people in battles , although it was laggy, but it didn't matter
hopefully planetside 2 is on the way.
