I want to try the trial just plain and simply to see if I would enjoy it or not. Most MMO's would just let you download the game for free (unpatched) and let you try it with no commitments. Why does this game want me to give it credit/debit card details to use a supposed FREE trial? And if I don't cancel at the end it will ASSUME I want to keep playing even though I only have a trial? Anyone want to tell me why they are doing it this way?

When they didnt requie a CC a lot of people abused them by simpy playing the freebie all the time. You can d/l and use all the equipment offline without signing on. They apply 1 dollar to the card to see if it is genuine, and return it if you cancel within 2 weeks. CRS is very good about not screwing ppl and have acutally taken a loss to return monies to ppl who failed to comply.
Only problem is I don't have a credit/debit card. And if I did general British ones don't tend to work with American MMOs. I wish they would just sell game cards I would buy one to try the game if I had to

Email Bloo@playnet.com tell him your problem and see if they can work something out to let you try the freebie. You can prepay if you decide to stay. You will be surprised at the Rats. Hope they can find a way to let you play.
Well I decided to open a debit card bank account, about time really, and I will see if the card works when I get it lol. On a different note I have downloaded the game clicked "play offline" and it started loading (very slowly). About a quarter in when it was loading trees the screen went black for about two minutes then the whole thing closed down. Tried it twice same thing happened at the same time, what is wrong

You need the latest drivers for your motherboard, video and sound.
What there is no way around that? Can't I put a bunch of settings to minimum or something? The idea of MMOs is that they should be accesible to everyone, not only people who have the most advanced systems

Regardless of your system, you simply put in the lastest drivers. What is your system specs?
No idea whatsoever but I'm not going out of my way to buy some new upgrade stuff

Drivers are free, they are the programs that control your motherboard video and sound cards. They should always be up to date regardless of what you are doing.
I'm not downloading any random stuff you want me to just so I can play this game OK. I have played WOW and EVE in the past and they have worked perfectly fine

Sounds like you should stick to console games....
Seriously, requiring a verified CC and providing an up to date client and suggesting up to date drivers is NOT unusual. In fact, it is the standard almost across the board.
If WoW let you have the client with no strings attached I'd be very surprised. If WoW gave you the original release client with no patches as a trial, you didn't try the game you would consider paying for! If WoW works with 10 year old drivers I'll let a truck run over my foot!
ww2ol's trial is about as Par for the Course as they get.
In fact, it superior in some ways.. Since there are no pay to upgrade expansions you actually get to try the game in it's entirety rather than the basic game with all frills removed.
I smell troll in this post
Drivers are not random programs, they are fundamental for the operation of your computer. If you have not upgraded drivers and I suspect you haven't since you bought it, you are running a machine that is perpetually under powered and out of date. This has nothing to do with WW2OL but with standard maintanance of computers Do a Google search on Drivers video, motherboard, sound etc . We all started not knowing about stuff, but take our advice and begin the process.
Dude Drivers are not random software....they are necessary for your video card and other components to work. If you don't have the latest version of drivers, your video card and other components will not be running the same as required by new software. Drivers are required so that software can communicate with the hardware.
You have drivers installed but they are old, and need to be updated...
Edit: As someone else said, you may need to stick to console games...
