Stop feeding the troll. I vote we ask for the thread to be closed so it falls off the page. This whole discussion reflects negatively on STO.

So they should do what exactly? Give the game a more Asian theme? You know that could be MMO gold because we all know that any trek nerd would give his plastic Spock ears for a Trek MMO where the females all look like 13 year olds with giant breasts. And the men all look like Sephiroth.

..... I'm not quite sure how well tentacle porn would fit itnto the Trek universe, but hey it might be worth a try.

Although I do agree that there should be a certain level of sexiness in STO as we saw this featured prominently in most of the series'(Kirks alien girlfriends, Troi and 7 of 9 in skin tight outfits, T'Pol running around in her skivvies, etc...) I do not think Anime is the answer. The game looks great graphically for a late Alpha build in my opinion and just needs some tweaking... mostly on the animation side of things. This game still has plenty of time to improve as the Beta build has yet to be produced. Give it some time.

again, i said nothing about it being anime, its star trek why the hell would i want it to be anime? anime has its place just like every theme in games.

my complaint was the space battles looks amazing, and when u see the ground combat it looks horrific, the animation is bad ass hell, when they get hit they have seizures, no cool battle pose, stagnant, boring and stale...  i hope they are gonna work on it since space is polished, they need to match in quality, or else nobody would want to go on the ground and look at their avatars do stupid jerky movements

Well... My anime comment was more directed at the entire thread and not just at you. I agree that the animation in what we've seen so far isn't great but it is all Alpha footage. Cryptic agrees with us also and have stated numerous times that they are working on it. As I said before, give it time.

Yeah played it at PaX and ground combat is pretty lame.  Maybe they should let the Koreans do the character animation?

Yea... that's completely unlike all the combat in the Star Trek shows... remember the one where Shatner gave that guy in a badass roundhouse to the face after backflipping over him?

I really hate to say this, because it's funny and.. really annoying when I'm watching an episode of Star Trek.  How often does someone use cover effectively?  Not very often does that happen, I saw an episode where one of the security officers ran face first into multiple klingons with weapons drawn.  He knew they were in there waiting and he didn't care, it's as if he wanted to die.

In a lot of the episodes I've seen, no matter what series.. combat has looked stiff, and rarely with much strategy involved.  I hate to say it, but maybe they are staying true to what we've seen in shows.  I'm sure things will get better.

What is it with some of you people. Star Trek is NOT anime. Simple.

If the ground combat looks crap (I haven't seen it) then it's because it's unfinished.  If I were to paint half your fence and you said "it looks crap", i'd say "that's because its only half finished you idiot!".

    ^ Trekkie, lawl

What the point of the anime comment was is stupid, I do agree, but why do you have to argue right off the bat that Star Trek isn't anime when we all more than likely know that already?

@OP: Western developers having horrible animation? Where did you ever get this information from? I won't suck off Gears of War for it's amazing animation and artistic style (in my opinion the game play was awful) however in all MMORPG's out there, I've seen way better animations from more what people in this thread are calling "western developers" (it's a retarded way to say AMERICAN DEVELOPERS honestly) than from whoever you call the "eastern developers". Not every MMO is the best, such as the spaceship flight wonkiness in Star Trek Online, but why complain about it on a forum full of nobodies like me who just have as many opinions as they have turds coming out of their rear-ends?

Care to link your source of discussion OP?  Or are you just trolling around?

I rank combat animation very low on my list of what I look for in an MMO.  For example I still feel Ultima Online had the best combat in the MMO world and look at their animation.  There are so many other things that come into a succesful combat system besides animation.  Honestly, I hope they don't waste all their time with insane animation and then put out a game that doesn't flow.  Anyway without seeing what you're looking at it is hard to say anymore on this topic.

Alot of people seem to be worried about the way the game will turn out. I have faith in Cryptic, after all they are ST fans to. Plus in my opinion all the vids released showing game play look good and after all those are a work in progress (which means game play will look even better apon release). Have some patience people...stop your whining and start thinking positive. We don't need depressed people posting out their depression. If you have worries about the game keep them private till you can actually play the game and have a legitimate reason to complain about SOMETHING in/ about the game...not the entire game. GO CRYPTIC *cheers*
