If anyone thinks SOE is a 'good/fair' company, please explain why, along with your perspective on their negative actions.
Because I played EQ for three years with zero CS problems. Additionally, most people who are on the SOE SUX bandwagon fail to give any reasons whatsoever. With the ones who do, it's so brutally clear to me that they are not thinking from a rational corporate customer service perspective, they are thinking from a "give me what I fucking want no matter what" perspective.

I will probabably be shouted down and called a rabid fanbois liar over this but I just went and counted just the first page of that thread, darned if I was going to count all 16. It was like 75% posts wanting more slots, 25 % for the 4 character slots. The last few pages the ratio went up to probably 90% of the postsers saying they want more, 10%b kissing SOE's behind. And by the way I have 2 posts somewhere in the thread saying I want at least 8.
4 character slots? That seems like some twisted joke! I have never played an MMO that allowed less than 8. If SOE doesn't stick with 8 I am sure they will regret it. There are two different sides of the game, I want an evil and good character. 6 years from now I hope to have at least 6 characters past level 20. In EQ i did. I couldn't imagine how annoying it would have been in the past 6 years if i was limited to having 4 at a time. i definately won't give in to buying 2 accounts either, and I hope no one else does either unless they were already planning on it for other reasons.
SOE is pretty crooked when it comes to silencing any criticism about any of their products.
And they will lie up and down about it also. Since most people wont come to a forum like this, so they wont have any idea that large scale censoring takes place.
Its sad. Shame on the SOE employees who either make these policies themselves. or adhere to it from the SOE execs.
shoot....I would stick to the execs command if they demanded something, even if it was something I didnt agree with....I aint losing my job, and potentially my house, car, etc because some people want more than 4 character slots...
That being said, I dont think 4 is enough. I think 8 would be just fine. And I dont mean 8 per server, I mean 8 total. Thats probably going to be less than 1 per server which is STILL less than they gave in SWG.
I like 8 and I will tell you why: (aren't you excited?)
Anyways...its per archtype. I usually like to have at least 1 main, and then 1 serious alt PER class type. Thusly I would want say a main mage, then an alt tank, scout, and healer. Now, you think to yourself...well thats 4. Ahha! You should be happy. Nope. Because now...I need at least 1 more character slot to try something out new that might catch my fancy for whatever reason. I have at times been inspired for whatever reason...and made a new character even though I had some serious alts, and that new character became my main. I would be reluctant to ever experiment iwth only 4 character slots.
Not to mention, if you do use 2 character slots on a same archtype...like 2 healers....1 a templar and say one a druid, those are vastly different character concepts. But now...there is going to be at least one archtype I dont even get to try. And that's seriously restrictive. 8 slots come down to 2 characters per archtype...1 as a main for that archtype, and 1 slot as an experiment slot.
My 2 cents....

Originally posted by Rhoklaw Why do you feel the need to test every possible Sub-Class? Can't you just pick a couple, say 4 and work with them? This obsessive behavior sounds like a power gamer technique or something, heh. I admit, I like having the ability to diversify my gameplay experience throughout the week and hopefully years of playing a game, but do you really need more then 4 slots? Just take a moment and think about it, do you really need more then 4 characters to enjoy a game? The only reason I'm seeing people wanting more then that is purely for the purposes of testing characters, possibly for their ultimate potential, aka cookie cutter classes. I know its not fun having a character thats gimp as all heck, but the chances of making 4 completely gimp characters, is rather unlikely. Once again, I'm not saying I don't like having a slew of characters to choose from, but I've been following EQ2 for a couple years now and I haven't even got past my first 2 choices yet. Yes, I've only chosen 2 Sub-Classes so far that interest me, first is the Ratonga Inquisitor and second was Ratonga Conjurer. If and when I decide to try something else, I'll still have 2 more slots to make choices with, actually 6 for me, cause I'll be 2 boxing, but still, 4 would still be plenty for me. In fact, this lack of character slots will probably help me to achieve level 50 a lot faster since I won't be tempted to play so many characters. I guess in a way, there are positive affects of this current setup.

Powergamer? lol.. I have a wife, a 9 week old and a job.. Trust me, I'm FAR from a powergamer... besides... most "powergamers" that I know of "multi-box"...
See, I have a problem with the fact that if I put time and effort into something, I REALLY hate to just throw it away. It's like woodworking. You spend all this time and energy to create a wine rack and then you just throw it away because you decided that you don't want to drink wine anymore? No, you find another use for it or give/sell it to someone who can use it and appreciate it.
So, no, I'm not a powergamer, but, I value my time and effort. That's why I would like the ability to play one of each class.
Originally posted by jimruk Maybe if you grind through all the classes with your character slot you will be able to open your force sensitve slot. Do that with each slot then you can have 8 characters of one server. Do they have the force in Norrath?

I some how missed the post you quoted.. lol.. damn funny.. but, one thing IS interesting.. anyone put their cursor of the the "Froglok" icon in character creation?
Looks like the did steal something from SWG... For those of you not in beta, it says something to the effect of doing some quests in game to "unlock" the ability to make a Froglok character..
