...are like me or similar:

  • not currently playing any MMO because you're bored of them all
  • still keep coming here at least once a day hoping to find news on upcoming games
  • really want to find a MMO that will become a long-term hobby again

I'm curious to know.   As for me, I am waiting to see how SWTOR, STO, MO & Earthrise turn out; in that order.  I really need something new  and truly "next gen".  I think SWTOR might be that because it's coming from BIOWARE and they are focusing more on the story and replayability.  In the meantime, I am also waiting for Dragon Age: Origins to release next month so I can stay busy.

I've got plenty of time to read so please feel free to share your story.

Im really a noob when it comes to MMO's, Ive played FFXI loved it, and am awaiting FFXIV and SWTOR. Ive also tried WoW cause my friends put up such a big fight when I said WoW isnt worth my time (which it wasnt).

  • Pretty much like you.  Certainly waiting, hoping, and stopping by here daily (don't even really know why, I end up repeating myself).  Unlike you, I'm not looking forward to SWTOR.  Looks way too linear for me.  You know the old saying, you can polish a turd.... That being said, it's not like I won't give it a shot.  I'm a total schmuck when it comes to trying new mmos.  I just ignore everything here and make my own decision on each of em.

Probably looking forward the most to the next Final Fantasy.  I missed the first one, and i think I missed out on a good one, and the rumors of deeper sandbox features are enough to grab my interest (I think the next gen is sandbox / linear hybrid).  Also looking forward to STO, mainly as a Star Trek fan.  However, I generally haven't been impressed by Cryptic, and I'm afraid it's gonna end up some sort of linear action arcade game, but who knows.  They at least are using a skill system, and that is a step in the right direction for that game's context.

Oh well, we'll continue to keep our fingers crossed, eh?

Yes I'm without an mmo right now, however I come here to just read people's thoughts and spout random nonsense in the hopes of getting a laugh out of it.  I'm not even sure if I want another mmo to become a hobby again.  A lot of the games that are due to come out are still at least for me too far away to care.  Once they get into the beta stage and I have some tangible product to look at then I can begin to formulate my own opinions.

SWTOR just doesn't seem like a game I'd be willing to pay a monthly fee for.  I know it's by Bioware and I've played a lot of their stuff in the past and enjoyed myself thoroughly but I won't pay a monthly fee for a game that plays like a multiplayer game rather then a massive multiplayer game.  That being said, I'll let you know what I think of SWTOR and the other up and coming releases as they approach D-Day.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

Yap, me too, just coming here hoping to catch some good and exciting news, Not looking forward to ToR too, unless some news that will change my mind. Either than that guess only FF still interest me.

Difference is, i'm playing War now, but still looking forward to something new that will once again raise by passion for this genre.

    Hopefully hope will come soon...

Edit: btw Illius, go to bed!

Same here.  Not really playing anything, I might log onto DDO once in a while if I get really bored, but since it's free and I'm never going to give them any money, if I don't get on for a couple of weeks, who cares?  Not only am I not currently playing anything, I'm not looking forward to anything either, there's nothing on the horizon that looks like anything I'll want to play.

So it looks like it may be years until I find a decent MMO, if ever.

Played: UO, EQ, WoW, DDO, SWG, AO, CoH, EvE, TR, AoC, GW, GA, Aion, Allods, lots more
Relatively Recently (Re)Played: HL2 (all), Halo (PC, all), Batman:AA; AC, ME, BS, DA, FO3, DS, Doom (all), LFD1&2, KOTOR, Portal 1&2, Blink, Elder Scrolls (all), lots more
    Now Playing: None
    Hope: None

    Sort of.

Don't feel like grinding LOTRO because there is an expansion coming - haven't paid my housing for a few weeks and to do that requires grinding for gold so I'm letting that add up.

Haven't been on Vanguard for a few weeks or Spellborn except for a short time.

Just coding more lately and sort of burnt out. It'll pass I suppose.

I wrestle with making my own game and playing those that exist, had to go back to some reading on math concepts to get that moving farther so some days after work too I just don't want to login to potentially see drama about not having been on etc. Lately I have other concerns than gaming so I'm working more than normal too.

After leaving EQ2 (horrible endgame), I've been hopping from game to game, hoping to find something to pacify my interests until the release of SW:TOR or FFXIV.

I've always played the console, but also had some sort of MMO that I played regularly. I gave Aion a shot, I really thought it would keep me entertained for a while, but no dice. So now the only work my PC has been getting is Risen and soon to be Dragon Age, otherwise it's just a portal to the interwebs. However my consoles are smoking from the amount of hrs they been getting on the weekends. So yep like you. Waiting on SWTOR and FFXIV. Oh and The Secret World but I won't give my hopes up for that.

A couple weeks ago, Aion would have been right up there with SW:TOR and FFXIV, but after I played it for awhile, I just really couldn't get into it.  I wasn't sure how I would react to the character models (they all look like shiny plastic to me), and as it turns out, I hated them.  I wasn't a fan of the armor, the combat, system, or pretty much anything about the game other than the graphics, which were a hit or miss in some areas.

I play WoW, but basically just to level my Pristess and to do my dailies.    I log into EvE about once a week, still waiting on WIS to be added.    I play way more Mount and Blade than anything else.    OMG I cannot get enough of that game.    When not playing Mount and Blade I am working on my MOD for it - which takes a lot of time to get things right, but it'll be fun once I get it done.   :)

I still play a little Oblivion now and then, waiting on Dragon Age.

Do not care for what I have seen of SW:ToR.

Wish the people who created Mount and Blade would make an MMORPG out of it.    That would make my day.

When it comes to Mount and Blade I'd settle for a multiplayer version right now just so I can play with my friends.  Hell, I could play with you!

Mount and Blade is alright, a bit too repetitive for me.

SW:TOR i am looking forward too because i am a star wars nut

EVE still has my attention, 10 months and going strong!

An oblivion or fallout 3 mmorpg would kick ass,  CCP, Bethesda and Bioware are the only companies worth a damn these days

I used to be with respect to waiting for an MMO to occupy my time. Fallen Earth has proven to take up those reigns for me. That said, I'm not a 1 MMO gamer so I'm still looking eagerly ahead to World of Darkness Online. Everything else that is in development (known anyway) just doesn't spark any interest for me. Oh, and I have my pre-order for Dragon Age: Origins in through Best Buy's website so I'm looking forward to that.

If it's about an MMO that I've grown to love again, it would have to be Luminary: Rise of the GoonZu.

It's been more than four years since the game was released but I came back since the community is so friendly and stress-free. Everyone practically knows each other.

And with the Halloween event, I guess I'm gonna stay for good again! ^^

I am simply myself, no more and no less. And I only want to be free.

I'm curious what Zenimax Online is up to.  Thats pretty much the only MMO I have any interest in at the moment.  Well, and I also like to check up on EVE Online every now and then.  I'm not too interested in actually playing that game, but interested in what it might one day become, I guess.  I also just like to look at the ship designs and such.  :)

Most MMOs just seem dull and uninteresting to me these days, too much of a grind, and too much of a time sink.  I don't think the genre will recapture my wallet until someone comes along and does something very different with regards to the way the game plays.  I've grown up, I'm not in highschool anymore.  I don't want to waste my precious time grinding for gear, levels, or in-game money, or being pushed along some tracks through some overbearing story.  If a massive online world can rise up to a more artful level, and become mentally stimulating and fun, then it will be worth my time.

I'm in that boat can't find a worth while MMO played all the good ones and out of all of them FFXI is my all time favorite.

Now I'm waiting for 3 games SW:TOR FFXIV and APB. Out of the 3 the one that has really caught my eye recently is APB every new trailer they put out just makes me want to play more and more and honestly I have not had a single game pull me in like this. But I will be getting all 3 of the games just right now APB is on the top of my list.

Hm... I guess I'm relatively lucky that I'm still new to MMOs, and as of yet, I haven't been bored of any of them I have paid for, at least. I don't really play free to play games anymore, even though some of them still rank as my favourites. Guess I am a little bored of that genre, especially since everything seems so similar. I'm still in love with Guild Wars though, and though I'm thinking of taking a break, I'll probably get back to it sometime soon.

However, I took a rather daring plunge (for me) and tried the trial for EVE Online. It was a interesting experience to say the least, and I don't think either fourteen or twenty days is going to be enough for me to really get a feel of the game, especially since there are so many things I could look forward to. First game I'm actually going to suscribe to, and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

    Main characters:
    Jinn Gone Quiet (Guild Wars)
    Princess Pudding (Guild Wars)
