Adding up the cost of purchasing Fallen Earth

seabeastseabeast Member Posts: 748

To play this game I would have to upgrade pc, purchase and download game and spend hours researching and figuring out how to play this new game. Total cost for new graphic card install and extra pc attention = $289.85 plus tax. Alternative activities of forking out the bucks for this game include:

Night out Partying:

Drinks at favorite watering hole + tips= $59.99

Buying drinks for Ms. Right =$89.88

Hotel Room $120.58

Taxi for fast escape Next day=$29.39

Medical Attention and Shots for STD= $294.99

Alternative Party Plan B = Falling in love and getting married sober = $66877274786.98 Billion dollars

Well if you need to upgrade your system just to play FE then you probably cant play many other modern games so you might as well head out partying.

umm if its going to only cost you like 300 bucks to upgrade... get out of ur parents basement and get a job O_o clearly if your out partying you should be old enough to get one... then the cost of 285 bucks wont matter for squat..

hell i dropped 1200 on my pc when i built it last year lmao so ya ur argument of 300 bucks is moot...

FE isnt that bad of a game. graphics are weak but meh graphics account for 10% of game enjoyment anyway.. BUT hot damn your pc must be pretty old anyway...

    Funny post =P

What kinda specs are needed for a 200+ Dollar Video Card though? The screenshots/Vid I have seen dont look that good (not saying they suck - I actually dont care about Graphix- But it looks like my Box could run it as is and my Box sucks)

Plus, if Miss Right is drinking $84 in a pub, may I sugest  $10 in drinks and $10 in Roofies ($20 only for the same effect) lol- Joking btw.

You Sir, are an idiot to make such broad assumptions.

I am a 34 year old Home Owner with a bit of Land, own a small buisness and cannot afford to upgrade. I work long hours and work hard (not in my "parents basement") and most of that money goes into paying off my home and my car and my Bills- I dont have spare money for toys atm.

Usually not making assumptions toward you either) someone with the spare money to spend $1200 on a whim to upgrade a PC for GAMES- is someone who is living at home with Mom and Dad, has no responsibilities and/or has more money than they know what to do with.

I keep a Jar in my cupboard called my "P.C. Jar" which I toss a few bucks in when I have extra. This pays for my games and any upgrades I might need and I assure you- That jar is nearly always empty =P

..But its not due to lack of a job- Its due to priorities and wanting tangeble assets rather than toys that will be obsolete in a year.

Yea, i have neglected the pc for two years, was high Thec two years ago. Btw, I am the parent and need to kick the kid out of the bassement which would buy me a whole new top of the line pc rig.

Damn Bluegrass, and I thought I was the only one trudgin the road to happy game playing. the P.C. Jar concept sounds like a good idea. Good thing we old cause as kids we would be too impatient but then again. its a new generation out there.

actually, apart from living at home (as it saves on bills "no rent") i can hardly afford pc upgrades i saved up for mine lmao back when my job wasnt cutting my hours lmao. just generally people who cant afford a simple 300 upgrade on a pc (which is fairly simple to save up for) dont work or spend money on "useless" items like buying console game systems that are discontinued...

    Hmm,

Lets see, divorce rate at over 50%, that means a %50 percent chance of an expensive court battle unless you get the gold mine and she gets the shaft (figure the odds) not to mention I can turn off the game from making all the noise. Not to mention the emotional turmoil. Ultimately, within a year I’ll ether have a nice toon to play or…a house full of kids, bills up the $&^ and/or turned domestic.

    Got to consider the odds

Uhm actually doesn't FE have higher requirements than most other MMO's?  I haven't played many other MMO's that state 3 gig ram for minimum requirements.

Currently Playing: Toying around with AoC and bored with Darkfall

Thinking of Playing: Fallen Earth or Darkfall after this months update.

Have Played: EQ1, EQ2, WoW, WAR, Vanguard, EvE, Requiem, PW, Lotro, Lineage2, AoC, SWG...

Obviously computing is a bit more important to you than to some of us who also have to work for a living, I don't live in my parents basement haven't since fourteen but I neither would ever spend 1200 on a pc especially just because I wanted to play a game, I don't begrudge you for doing so and I doubt the op does either but be certain some of us don't see money the way you do so that makes your 1200 dollars vs 300 dollars argument moot.  I've got a pc I paid eight hundred dollars for maybe three years ago upgraded the video card and if I need to do more than that it's not a game for me to play.

Let's not forget all the people who had to upgrade their system to play AOC and we all see how that turned out......good point op.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

I added it up one time for a whole year prior to playing PreCu SWG I spent about $1500 between ps2, xbox and fps games on my pc.  When I started playing SWG, it was all I played.  Monthly subs $30 for two accounts, plus initial purchases...I think $150 for two collectors editions (not sure on that).  So I saved quite a bit of money playing SWG and most mmo's since.

Now I would like a whole new computer but there are things holding me back besides price.  I don't like vista for one.  Secondly, I think 64 bit OS will be the wave of the future but I hear about incompatibility issues and it makes me pause- I'll wait a little longer.  And cpu's....theres the dual core and the quad core and I think i heard of something else now, so I am just on the fence waiting for atleast another year probably.
