Are the days of being revived by someone not in your group gone?

In DAoC if you died in a dungeon you could do a search and find a cleric to come res you. Can you be revived by someone not in your group?
Can you be healed by someone not in your group?

That would be halarious if they didn't let outside people even RAISE you.

Since it's not a form of power leveling, I don't see why not.

I've rezed people that are not in my group. Although, most quest cave areas are going to be instanced. So, what you have in your party is what  you get. image

So can you heal people outside of your group, or no?

from what i have read if your fighitng a monster solo a person cant heal you unless you yell for help then if he does you will loose all xp from the kill. So it may work the same in groups.

You can only heal, buff, invite or rez someone out of your group if they/their group are not locked with mobs. If they yell for help, you can heal/buff the person and attack the mob. Most buffs work with only group members anyways.

I've played mainly priest classes and I'm having plenty fun. IMO this really isn't a big issue. I've told my group to stop while I rezed the healer and a few others of parties that had wiped in non-instanced areas like Wailing Caves. It is true you can't heal folks that are locked in combat, but the underlying question is do they want you to heal them in the first place? They may have a new piece of gear or skill that they are trying out and want to test their boundaries. If folks are jumping in and healing them without asking if they even wanted your assistance, well, they don't get to truly test themselves.

You'll know someone wants your help if they Yell for help, at which point you can heal away. At that point, heh, they couldn't take the mob by themselves so why should they get the exp/loot for it? The mob is too tough for them and they should get help to beat it, thus getting proper loot and exp for it. image

Not being able to heal someone I think is total crap. It just doesn't feel like an open RPG. As in you can do whatever you want. I mean it makes it feel restrictive if you can't even heal somebody you want.

Well, as I said before, I don't get that feeling at all. That and there is no RPG out there that everyone can do whatever they want. That would be a recipe for disaster. You can heal people you want if you're grouped with them. If you aren't grouped and haven't even talked to theother player, how do you know they want you to heal them?

I just don't see the big deal. It takes 2-3 seconds to group with someone, less than a minute to heal them and break group and move on.

Oh, and another thing about rezing... in EQ1, you have to give someone permission to rez you. In this game, you don't. You can  rez someone right in the middle of the agro mobs that killed them, just to watch them die again. (no moving bodies either) This might be a problem. I always ask if someone wants a rez that's not in my group, just incase though. image
