ok first combat in eq and in most mmorpgs is very boring to me. its all auto attack and then watch your character hit then pause then hit and repaet using some abilities along the way.
How is eq2s combat compared to this "sandwich" stlye combat?
is it more involved? is it fun?
ok next a quicky about mounts.
I dont even now what mounts there are. is there just horses or are there other mounts?
ok last my biggest problem with eq2 is the zones. iv heard theres loading between zones.
Ok are the zones broken up like ff11 where thye narrow into a path to the next zones or do you just run then hit a point where you go into a loading screen?
Also how long are these loads?
Do they hurt your expreince at all?
thank you for your time and still not sure if im gonna play eq2 wow ryzom or wait for somthing else.
-Gosh you're cute. Wanna buy a monkey?

EQ2's basic combat is similar to most RPG's, but on top of that is the combat wheel/heroic oppurtunites. What this does is reward you for completing certain chains of moves. For example my Sorcerer could start with a flame attack, an icon will come up with a lightning bolt in it telling me to use my lightning attack to trigger the combat wheel. Once the wheel is up there are more icons telling you what to cast next for the heroic oppurtunity. In this case it's just another lightning bolt, when I connect with the second lightning attack it does double damage. These are easy to do solo, but in groups it takes a bit more coordination.
Right now I believe the only mounts are horses and flying carpets. There are griffons but they only act as taxis across zones.
Yes there is loading between zones. All of the zones are entered through something you click on, so you won't be running and then all of a sudden be in a load screen (unless the server just crashed ).

As was previously mentioned, the Heroic Opportunities definitely make combat more interactive... however.. The problem that you will more than likely run into when this goes retail is a general understanding of how these Heroic Opportunites work... I've been in several groups where everyone just does their own thing regardless if the HO wheel shows up, throwing the whole HO aspect of the game out the window... Several classes have Solo HO's which they can pull off without the help from anyone else.. once you've seen the power of these, you'll definitely want to see what the group ones are capable of, and you'll probably start to get frustrated with people in your group who choose not to understand this aspect of the game...
I can't comment on mounts because I never actually had enough money to buy one, but I saw a stable in town where I could if I had the money...
I don't feel the zones affect my experience in game at all.. in fact, alot of times I can use zoning to run to the bathroom or get a drink or whatever... But, it doesn't take that long to zone anyway.. The zones, from what I have seen, all seem to be in "common sense" locations.. like a door you need to go through and not just some random item in the middle of nowhere where you touch it and zone...
The problem with the combat wheel is it's very very chaotic. When you're soloing, it's easy to pull off.. but if you're in a group and in an intense fight, the wheel could 'pop up' while you're in the middle of casting a spell that isn't part of the wheel, thereby cancelling the wheel. You would need to be part of a very tight knit group to pull off the HOs effectively.
Also, I hate the zone loading within the cities. I can see the need for it, but I still hate it. A lot of the quests in the city is 'go to this part of the city and talk to this guy, then return'. This presents a lot of endless trudging if the zone is clear across the city. I guess the reason the quests are laid out like this is to push you to explore the city.
