The game will die when people get 40+ and realize that to level up they have to group grind EXP for 15+ hours for 1 level, or solo for 30+ hours(And I don't mean questing/instancing, I mean standing still and killing the same mob over and over.)
And when melee realize how hilariously bad in PvP(due to flying PvP, having to stand still to use 80% of your melee skills and lack of any real CCs/snares compared to range) they are in this game.
P.S., my templar was level 47 when I quit, over a week ago.

The free month for CE purchasers—which is the majority of the early adapters—ends on October 29th.

The curious is that all of this happened before already, in 2004, with another game, and we all know the results.
Yet, we all know where this as taken us, and where that game is today. So stop the damn crap again, we've seen it already.
And accept theres a new big boy on the market. And that this game wont die soon. Offcourse this is not an Aion will kill WoW thread, ofc it wont, but it isnt dieing eaither, and it wont for a long long time.
Those problems, (some grind, we had queues, there are bots and some gold sellers) all happened before, and thats the proof. The fact is that they solved it mostly, and so is NCSoft, like the last community adress shown, and thats whats important. Just spare us the same rehashed trash talk we had 4 years ago pls.
The game wont die soon no, it will be around for awhile. But Aion has lost quite a few people.

1) OP: This is the internet. It's impossible to care about what all other people write. Just play the game, enjoy it and have a good time.
2) Sure, some of the people talking bad about a game are trolls. But not all people are. Some actually discovered some problems (or something they consider beeing one) and that might be worth a discussion. Calling those people "liers" doesn't help anyone, except the trolls.
3) You assume that the people lie because they are trolling, and react on them. And reactions are what trolls are going for. So even if you would be right and everyone would be making up lies about Aion, you'd just react the way such people would want you to.

Game started out fun, but the PVP turned out to be a pretty big disappointment. The leveling/grinding was pretty lame at the 40+ but that isn't really the end of the world. Styling in PVP is kind of a joke (3/4 of your styles you can't even move during swing and the target can just run out of range) and flying in PVP is really stupid they should just cut that out (glinding is cool though)
/Cancelled for now, can't say I'm too eager to look to resubscribe and get my grind on anyways. Fix the XP gain, fix the pvp, game might be interesting.
I think UO is the best example of all. That game has such a small but dedicated community yet it still carries on. BTW OP, its been five years not four. Its 2009 now.
Cheers!

Not sure how many have quit so far - xfire play time is spiralling downwards despite the bot population. I think we're still waiting for the final verdict of the game. The free month will be up soon, but there's also 3 month and 6 month subscriptions. Let's just hope the game manages to stabilize even though the graphs are looking a lot like AoC/WAR right now.
I just cancelled my Aion subscription. Not because the game is bad or I hate it but because I have other games I am currently playing that I enjoy more. I may return at a future date when I burn out on the games I'm currently playing I just find I don't log into Aion enough to justify continuing to pay for it at this time. Not that I think anyone should CARE if I unsubscribe.

Aion won't "die", even Vanguard is still up and running.
I'm quitting................. for the weekend I'm out of town and don't have access this weekend.
We are in the same forums that attempted to troll some games like Darkfall to death, yet people do play and enjoy the game.
SWG and AOC are still here.
And these forums get a "WoW is dying" thread every week.

So has WoW.
I salute the OP for the great links he/she found.
There is nothing new under the Sun - the same nonsense being spread.
No what it shows that it does not matter what the quality of the game actually is = there will be haters and nonsense and crying and wailing and etc.

"Senator, I knew World of Warcraft, and trust me, Aion is no World of Warcraft."
Just because you've found analogous threads about certain issues doesn't mean the two games are really very similar.
Aion and WOW have quests. WOW's are better.
Aion and WOW have PVP. Depending on your tastes, WO'W's might be considered better. (it certainly is quite different)
Aion and WOW have levels, classes and character progression. WOW's is deeper.
Aion and WOW both have grinding. Aion has more grinding.
Aion and WOW have two factions. But WOW has many more races.
So many differences, so few real similarities, people have a right to post what they didn't care for about the game.
Oh yeah, and currently, I play Aion.
