MMORPG with separate crafting and adventuring

BenediktBenedikt Member UncommonPosts: 1,406

Hi

I would like to ask, if anyone know any MMORPG, where crafting and adventuring is separate. What I mean is, that I can in such game create a crafter, who will never need to kill anything, and he will still (without buying materials on auction) be able to gather materials and craft. F.E. Vanguard has great crafting, but you have to level adventuring levels too, because you have to go gather materials among the mobs. Also it would be great, if items you create have some meaning, I mean - its nice you can craft highest level Sword, but it is useless when players can rather easily get better from drop.

Only game of this type I can think of is Wurm, does someone please know any other?

Thank you

Ben

Yeah, well, idk the details, but in FFXIV you can complete the game by only playing a crafter class. There will be 'quests' designed for crafting in mind, that should not require killing anything.

However I'm not quie sure what you mean; you don't want to use AH, but you don't want to kill mobs either and still gather materials like beast skins and meat, silk and so on? How does that work, do you want to find them lying on the ground or something?

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Well since you have already played Vanguard. I recommend Satr Wars Galaxies. It has entire classes based soley on crafting.

Also the best by far crafting of any game! Just my advice!

What I want is something like this: Do you need plants for Alchemy or Cooking? Buy seeds, go to the field and plant some. Do you need ore or gems? Go to the (probably it would have to be instanced) mine and try to find some by mining through the walls.

Either this, or system of craft orders as in Vanguard, but with materials as rewards.

hehe, if you can deal with the graphics.. Runescapes the game you are looking for!

Well I did heard (read) that after NGE crafting in SWG is comepletely meaning less, that it doesnt really matter if you use great crafted blaster lev 50 or basic lev 1 one. It isnt so?

Well do not know if thats true or not, I deal mainly with starship and droid manufacturing. Very profitable!

Yeah, I get it now. FFXIV has 'gatherers' as classes as well, so just like there are Gladiators and Archers there are, for example, Botanists, Fishermen and Miners. These classes, like the crafting ones require no fighting (or very little of it) and you can switch between them freely.

They work as you described, so you could potentially finish the game without fighting by switching between these classes. It's easy, too, just change your weapon type and your class changes.

But still, if you want things like monster skins and meat for cooking or tanning, it is very likely that you either need to fight or buy them off the Market. Although, it was hinted that Tanner for example could create traps to capture monsters; maybe this method could be used to gather those kind of materials as well.

The game you're looking for is Runescape.  There is:

Cooking, to level cooking you can; Level fishing and cook them, gather materials from farming, or kill monsters to get meat.

Smithing, to level first you have to level mining and mine the materials and smelt them to bars.

Crafting, mine jewels that come out of any mineral but with low chance, or gather some wool from the sheeps to level it etc.

Then theres Construction, you build your own instanced house and you can use any stats to it and also money. You can put big fishes to the walls with fishing, with smithing you can make armors there.. etc.

..and then there's millions of other attributes, premium mebership costs 5$/Month

When I played it I saw many combat lv3 (you start at lvl 3) ppl with like 99crafting.
