I've been telling some buddies (from back in the opening days of AC and years invested afterwards) that Fallen Earth is the closest thing to "AC2" That we'll probably ever see. I told them to think of AC in Mad Max's world.
That being said, would you old AC players agree that the character progression, skills, world, environment and overall feel is pretty much ACish and would you all agree with my opening statement?
I just wanted to hear from you old ACers, as I am pretty excited to get an opportunity to try FE and found out that it shares alot in common with my first and only true MMO love: Asheron's Call.

I would, to an extent (never played AC2, played AC for a long time). There are noticeable differences such as the amount of quests. Ideas like having levels primarily be for show and having your AP (so EXP in AC) being put into skills is a similar concept. AC seemed to have more skills into which to do that but that may not be the case. Actually, I think they share asimilar amount of skills.
They both share the ability to build your own character via the skills offered.
So yeah, it isn't an exact copy, but they do share more than a few ideas/concepts.

I agree; I think Fallen Earth feels like AC2. It's a good thing. I'd like Turbine to update AC with their system and engine experiences from LOTRO and DDO. FE, thusfar, has been quite enjoyable.
Do you mean like Asheron's Call 1 or Asheron's Call 2? These games were radically different.
REALITY CHECK
He means that fe have the feeling to be ac2 insteaf of the real ac2
This is really interesting, if it really is close to being AC2, I might just have to try the game out. How many features/concepts are similar to Asheron's Call 2?
Like said in the posts above me, it shares may aspects of AC but yet is drastically different in areas in which are not the same. Such as the way combat works and so forth.
The more I play it the more I feel like a mix between SWG early days and AC. If I were to compare it to anything, it would be some sort of hybrid between those two with combat similiar to the recent game: Borderlands.
So far? I'm loving every minute I'm in the game. Like others before me I had all but given up on MMOs until the new StarWars title by bioware comes to town, but now I'm having quite a lot of fun, more fun than I've had in an MMO in a long long time.
The main thing I wish, is that there were more focus on grouping, such as camps of elite mobs in which you and your team can jump in and just lay waste to to obtain bonus xp (for being grouped) and more rare drops.
Aye, and while I enjoyed AC2 breifly, I lost interest in it and it was nowhere near being as good as AC IMO.
I'm comparing it to AC, and calling it the AC2 "Spiritual Successor" to steal bioware's terminology.
I'm only on the trial right now, but I can see some of the feel from AC. I have a L45 Warrior stuck in Baishi and was a Loong time player back then. I'm not sure how I feel for this game yet except surprised. I related to it another buddy of mine that played AC along with me as EVEonLand.
Its got a steep learning curve, but i'm definitley No dissapointed with it.
That's exactly how I feel.
And they're busting their arses to squash bugs and improve the game in every way.
The thought of AC type character progression, in-debth crafting, and the possibility of a SWG like housing system gives me chills.
Not to derail the post... How is good ole AC doing these days?
Sitting stagnant on a dusty shelf at Turbine. If ever any game needed to be "updated" with a true sequel (with respect to keeping the same systems and expanding them, and creating new content and new areas), it is Asheron's Call. Yet, Turbine is content to sit on it and keep touching up LOTRO in hopes it pans out to be a "WoW" for them. *shrug*
