These are forums to discuss MMO's. If I see one more political debate I swear I will track you down and have your posts tatoo'ed to your forehead.
One more post about which puppet...sorry, politician will be ruining..sorry, running America next and I will unleash my horde of sexually deviant rabid badgers upon you all!
Now that I have got that pointless rant off my chest, I would like to get an opinion on how people feel Guild Wars should be classified. I have seen many people stating that it is not a MMO and thus not worry of discussion on these boards. So Should it stay or should it go now....(I personally think it is an MMORPG):

its MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online Game)
not real RPG...but any other so called MMORPG ..are they really RPG?
grinding ..camping dont makes a RPG from MMO ( EQ SWG DAOC etc ...are they really RPGs ?)
im just sick of these politician's computers calling me every 15 minutes with a recording from random famous person on how i need to vote this way or that
and GW is MMO enuff to be on this site
It's just as much an mmorpg as all the other regurgirated crap the companies churn out. The fact is that today the rpg part doesn't mean role playing game, it means lvl's and xp and upgradeable equipment and hp/mana gain per lvl etc...
Cyan
It is more an RPG than EQ II. In EQ II stats and skills mean nothing for your character, where a gnome is just as good a fighter as a troll, and type of armor or weapon do little difference to the damage or protection.. Where ALL numbers are just cosmetic...
Then yes, Guild Wars is twice the RPG compared to that... It is just honest with its intent. It is not pretending to be as advanced as real games. It is an "RPG Light", just as EQ II and WoW. Ergo, fit here just as well as those two.
Only game I wait for right now: Imperator.
Go Mythic!
"This is not a game to be tossed aside lightly.
It should be thrown with great force"
Its D3 plain and simple. So i'd call it a 'online action rpg'. It doesnt deserve the first 2 M's in MMORPG since it sure doesnt feel 'Massive Multiplayer', at least not in the traditional sense of EQ, UO, DAOC, etc. Theres definitely a big difference in depth between this and more traditional mmorpg's.
I'm not surprised, just disappointed in all the hype leading up to Guildwars. I reallly need to take people hyping up a game with a grain of salt, Diablo 3, errr Guildwars is a case in point. I should've known ex Blizzard Dev's that did Diablo would make Diablo but under their own title name.
in GW u have skills.. quests.. boss mobs
to get next lvl u need to kill mobs ..grafics are greet
u have armor upgrade etc..rare items
u have all the depth of a traditoinal MMORPG with less camping and less downtime
and dont tell me u do much RP in EQ etc
GW is easy...but its greet
i dont need anoter work after work in RL
i think i found my kind of mmorpg

I'm not going to bother arguing this with the ones that want to make Guildwars out to be greater than it is. Anyone thats played Diablo and a reall mmorpg like EQ, UO, DAOC, etc. know the differences between them. Its common sense which is why i wont try and explain/argue it. And there are ALOT more similarities to Diablo than to EQ, DAOC, etc., regardless of you wanting or not wanting to 'work' in games or not.
I just wish you fanboys of Guildwars would be honest about what it is, instead of trying to portray it as more than it is, while throwing your personal preferences knocking what it isnt. Bottomline is some of you love Diablo3, others dont.
Amen.
Interesting, seems like the majority do think it's an MMO. I was thinking that it would be the other way. I don't think you can use the depth of the gameplay to justify it either way, if it has enough people online playing it and you can meet/talk to them all then it must be an MMO surely. Diablo and Dungeon Siege had very limited people on each server and I think that is where the difference lies.
