Grinding, as use in reference to Aion, is essentially "my little winged ballerina emo angel has no more quests, so I have to run around killing 5,327 little carebear-looking mobs in order to finish out the remainder of the XP I need to level".
Quit trying to sell the game bro. It's true colors have come out. Enjoy your F2P grinder...if nothing else, in 3 months you'll be able to tell people that at least your toon in Aion is prettier than the ones in WAR.
I hope the upcoming patch helps eliminate the grind at the upper levels. A game should not be a job....pure and simple. It should be fun and one should look forward to playing not mindless grinding (at least in the western world). It's a Game after all....
thank you i think i have been saying that from the beginning this game feels more like a job then a game and whats worse is they are charging me to work
Well I'm not done yet. But I have hit a wall that wasn't talked about (or that I saw anyway). My wall is the group requirement.
My level 20 Cleric in greens cannot solo the elites. Even with decent gear, it's "too little too late" re dps or heals trying to burn them down alone (might be related to lag).
Asking in LFG produces nothing, perhaps because most toons are in higher content or the chat scrolls by too quickly.
Because I can't get my group quests done, I'm going broke from death penalties and travel.
Thanks to all the bots and gold sellers, there is no market for my greens; nice items worth 35k kinah can't be sold for even 8k.
So, logging in has become a gold sink. Go figure. I'm going to just grind for the next three weeks and see how that works. If it doesn't, I'll be unsubbing at the end of the month. =/
I'm going back to WAR, and hey to those that left, it still says Mythic on it, but Bioware is in control of Mythic, and all the decision makers have been fired, competent people in their place, and they have been beating the crap out of order with the nerf bat getting the game back to some semblence of balance, and you can get 10 days with your old account free if you've been gone for more than 60 days.
Has it really gotten better? Have they polished it more? (I really am curious, I loved the concept, but hated the execution)
God damn bud....you think way to much LOL. Your whole post is worthless imo. Did you play Aion with fun your priority or were you looking for problems? Seems to me you have nothing better to do then whine and bitch...
I'm loving Aion and I plan to stick around for a long time. Currently have 3 level 30s and their all a blast to pvp with. Good ridance to ya :-)
i quit aion also, i wish i had known my new month subscription would start up a couple of days ago or i probably wouldn't still be trying to play. I had fun at the start i came here with a bunch of friends. Slowly my friend count went to 0 and i'm actually the only one left playing. I just stopped having fun playing this game when i got to about level 37, and find it extremely boring.
as for warhammer, i was one of those people that tried the first month. To me the gameplay in that game was on par with eq2, was total crap. I could never see myself playing a game with crap gameplay which to me is the #1 thing to have as an mmo.
what really sucks now is i don't have anything to fall back on. I quit wow after playing from release for over 4 years. It was the best mmo i played, but hell 4+ years for any game and you just flat out get bored of it. What does it tell you though that it took me just over a month to get bored of aion, whereas it took me over 4 years to get bored of wow. Hell it took me 2 months to get bored of AoC and at release that game was seriously lacking in the 40+ levels. to me the only thing on par with WoW was counterstrike, i still play that game once in a while same with warcraft 3. lolz
After about a hundred hours of gameplay, I've unsubscribed from Aion.
Like the other servers, the Fregion server is overrun with bots and gold sellers. The client bugs and inexplicable lag are directly affecting gameplay. The lack of in-game support is frustrating. Hell, even their forums are broken.
Damned depressing - I was looking forward to a new game, as well.
Atm If I ever decide to cancel subscription is because it's a pvp oriented game but no games have come out that are pve oriented so nothing to play apart of single players and/or free 2 play.
Try LoTRO(Lord of The Rings Online), it is the heaviest and only PvE only game(PvMP I do not consider PvP)

Too bad that your too lazy to explore the areas and find the quests that I know are there. Which leads me to believe you didn't even play the game. Beacauce Stevie Wonder could see all the quests that are in this game. Stop trying to Powerlevel thru the game and take a minute to actually play it. If you don't like the game just say you don't and move along. Calling it "winged ballerina" only makes you look stupid for playing it. Its not like you didn't know before you started...and if you didn't then thats your own dumb fault.
It was never going to compete with WOW period. Your opinion is as valid as anyones though.
Its doesn't have to compete with WOW to be a great game. Just like Mozilla does't have to compete with IE. They are in a class of their own. People need to learn that popular doesn't always mean "the best". The fac tis if you play WOW or Aion you are still going to be killing monster A to level up. It the process that makes the game experience.

What? WOW smack talking on the internet. Your post has no point and really makes no sense. Please make an actual point then post again.
There is a lot of truth in what you are writing, since after all the speculation the result of the Mythic and Bioware merger by EA is that it is being run by Bioware people at the top, and possibly all the way through now. As someone who played WAR at launch through to its dissapointing conclusion of RvR end-game this reads like a real step forward for the game, if anyone can patch it into a great RvR game then Bioware would be a great candidate to do so.
1 - BioWare has no previous experience with MMOs.
2 - BioWare has no previous experience with RvR
3 - BioWare has its own huge IP MMO in development
I see no BioWare stake in fixing Warhammer.
You've contradicted yourself here.
Since BioWare has no previous MMO experience (actually if you research that you'll find that's wrong) then it serves their best interest to get as much as they can before they release their own. With WAR they can experience things from a post-release state. They can get some experience as a whole company without having really any risk. The game's reputation is already pretty lack-luster so it's not like they can do anything to screw it up.
Besides that both EA and Bioware have big bucks to throw around. You can bet that one of them sent headhunters after experienced people before they even started work on TOR.
NCSoft's problem in my opinion is that they just don't seem to understand the North American MMO market.
If they did, they would not release games with tedious grinds and insufficient content. Games like Aion may have worked here in the past, but they certainly don't now.

It honestly feels like the western release serves as nothing more than a quick cash injection. I bet 6 months from now, the plague of bots will be just as bad as it currently is, along with the minimal support and lack of GMs.
At least that what it felt like being in the EU community - NCwest appear to be a skeleton crew, at best.

What happened to Lineage 2 will happen with Aion. NCsoft will promise that all the botters/farmer/spammers will be dealt with, which wont happen, and the game will slowly fall to sub 150k numbers (not a bad thing really) in the US/Euro markets soon to be overshadowed by a western made/released MMO.
Then NCsoft will release a new MMO and close a couple more and a few years later release the next Linaion game.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

You are so uninformed its not funny. There i no way that ANY game can be free of bots and spammers. The truth is these people are smart and orginized. Not even WOW is free of bots and gold sellers. Aside from that making such predictions with no real bases is just silly. If your going to make a prediction at least have a solid reason with actually facts.

Bots and spammers are not as numerous in others games as they are in Lineage II and Aion. Blizzard actually takes an active approach to dealing with them. They even took Peons4Hire and a bot developer (forgot their name) to court.
As far as making a prediction, I think that his has some merit. Let's look at the facts. NCWest + Lineage II = bot and gold seller heaven. Why would NCWest + Aion be any different?
The same company runs this game, yet people assume that things will somehow be different this time around? Why? Because Aion is their new flagship product? So was Lineage II at one point and we all know how that turned out.

There is a difference between being free of bots and actually attempting to curb botting. Many games take a major stance against botting (following up reports of suspected botters, banning known accounts, etc). NCsoft really never attempts to attack the issue at all. In L2 people would report botters and then see that same bot running the same path daily for the next few months. In WoW you could see people whining and maoning about their account being banned for botting (there are even a few of those posts on these forums as well).
As for my predictions, its based off NCsofts track record of game support, which in most cases is non-existant through many of their games, as well as how quickly Lineage 2 dropped in subscription numbers in its first few months in NA/European markets (Aion and L2 are pretty much the same game, with Aion being aimed more at the starting WoW base with its color pallet).
So while none of my predictions are based off what you call 'hard fact' they are based off a trend the company is well known for (which most predictions are based off trends, not facts. Once a prediction comes true, then it can be called a fact)
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
Yep I'm done too actually I was done shortly after I started. I was all excited about this game but with more information coming about GW2 and FFXIV I couldn't get myself invested in this game. I also didn't feel it was localized very well.
Honestly the forum trolls on this site and others are out of hand, and the fanboi's are just as bad.
I'm a level 43 Cleric, I know the games a grind. I don't mind grinds, what kills Aion is that the grind is NOT enjoyable. As gamers we are all used to grinds, whether they are disguised or L2 rehashs, they all have grinds. The issue is when that grind is no longer enjoyable. The second problem with Aion, is the carrot at the end of the stick is looking worse and worse. The carrot being end-game PvP, is not what I exspected and hoped for. End Game PvP is a joke... plain and simple. End Game pvp is in the abyss, Upper or Mid Cores... and the only draw is fortress timers. What keeps me there when there isn't a fort to fight over, there is nothing else to do in the abyss 40+. The Dreadgion is a scenario failure, it attempts to be a pvp arena whilst forcing the NPC element into the fight. So where is my incentive to deal with the grind to 50? Everyone of you 20-30's stating there isn't a grind do understand that the grind doesn't end when your 50, that you actually will be running the same instance hundreds of times because getting geared is actually a grind too?
All in all ... Aion has failed for me. I had such high, high hopes of it being my next Daoc... but it isn't and it won't be.

you got that right bro. I mean, you really need me to confirm that I am going to go with my own personal experiences over what someone is telling me they are experiencing in game ? I havent seen any bot legions, I am 25 now. I have not run out of quests. You and all the other clowns here can say whatever you want about your own experiences, but call me crazy I am going to trust my own 2 eyes over the tripe you and your friends speak.

Level 25?
Come back at level 40. If you enjoy the grind that is Aion at that point, the more power to you.
One of my biggest gripes of the game is not the actual game itself but the customer service. Are there any GM's for this game at all? All of the obvious bots I've reported over my time playing the game and they are still there. It is so blatant that it is hard to believe that there is any gm support for this game.

1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

Glass houses...
And the clowns cant stop coming to the circus....Hey bro, I play AION -- And not once, not ever have I run out of quests. But nice try. Hope the time it took you to come here didnt stop you from grinding more rep in wow -- that would be like, really bad for a little wowtard like you.
Just like you've never seen any bot legions, right? I guess since YOU haven't run out of quests and since YOU haven't seen any bot legions, then other people are imagining things, right?
you got that right bro.
