Well, I have been testing Vanguard: Saga of Heroes on the trial and I could think of starting it but trial is pretty limited and I don't know if there's enough population. Even the isle feels empty. I have also been enjoying DDO and Spellborn lately.
Spellborn is awesome game but it doesn't have crafting and it feels little empty too, I like the combat system and everything but sometimes it feels like I'm playing single player game.
DDO is also great game, don't know what kind of crafting it has but the cons of it are that you have to repeat the dungeons to get more favor, lack of exploration and lag in combat, otherwise I enjoy it very much.
Other games I enjoyed:
Eve online was nice but I got bored after 2 trials I had. The space looks same everywhere and the t1 quests were all the same. I never got to pvp because it would take too much time, otherwise it seemed to be good game.
Warhammer was awesome. I played it to lv 20 or something but then I had to stop because I was occuring so much blue screens. If the game has good population and something fixed I could probably go back there?!?
Runescape, was the first MMORPG I ever played, started it back to runescape classic when I was kid and couldn't even speak english. It was funny tho, I had to imagine everything my self, I remember, back to rs classic when I had no idea what are the bronze bars over the ppl's head (when they used it). Then after few weeks I imagined it out myself that if I take bronze and tin and go to put it to furnace I can make a bar and out of the bar I can make my own gear!! Awesome, isn't it (doh). I quitted runescape few years back tho.. After lvld all the levels around 50 every one of them started to get boring, and I bet nowadays even earlier. EDIT: The quests were also awesome as hell, no other MMO has quests like runescape.
What I would like:
-Lots of exploration.
-Good crafting system that is important in the game. Also harvesting the materials would be nice (not just killing monsters and crafting items off the items I just got.)
-Not too much grind/repeating some quests.
-Character customisation.
-Okay community and not too empty world.
-f2p or p2p with trial.
-Player driven
-I'm not graphics whore nor I care if it's 10000gb and requires good computer or if it's browser game with crappy graphics.
((-Player housing ))
I think I like all kind of MMORPGs if the game is good.
Some games I have thought of trying(trial):
Saga of Ryzom, I'm just scared if it feels too empty for me.
Everquest 2, maybe too much wow like and I don't like it?
Fallen Earth, I used my 14day trial key I won but there was problem with the downloader and it would have taken 8days 15minutes to download the game so I gave up.
S.U.N Online, looks good but I think it's just normal f2p grinding game.

I will still say EQ2. It has all the features you want and nothing like WoW, far from it. I enjoyed my 14 day trial and bought the game. I think i found my next "big thing" after WoW. Highly recommended.
Stages of a new mmo: 1) It's just beta. It still has plenty of time before release. 2) It just launched. Give it time. WoW wasn't built in a day. 3) We don't need you anyway. 4) F2P announced. 5)Huge influx of players. 6) Look how much has changed. 7) Cash shop is the only thing developed lately. 8) It has been a long journey and we thank everyone who was part of it. Shutting down in 3 months. (Courtesy of Robokapp.)
LotRO or Aion would be my recommendations.

LotRO is one of the only games that I got to max level without getting bored too much. Last thing I remember about it was much PvP raiding and awesome snowy place with finnish NPC names, loved it. I'm afraid I won't go back tho. No idea why but I don't feel like it.
Aion, I almost bought it once but thank god I didn't it looks like asian grinder and I have heard veeery bad things about the grind. Also I haven't heard anything about Aions crafting, is there even crafting? I may think of starting but I'm afraid I won't.
Well if u want a very indepth pve experience that is challenging and rewarding with imo the best crafting system out there it offers a seamless world with free flight give it a try there is a trial VANGUARD(SAGA OF HEROES) go to www.vanguardsoh.com
Thanks for the reply, did you read even one word of the thread?
lol i see sorry to sum it up u will find no game with as much potential as vanguard saredon server has decent population np pvp except for in the arenas the pvp server(sartok) is dead
Sorry for the double post.
What about the population of EQ2, is it easy to get group for questing and end game instances/dungeons/bosses/raids?
eq2 is great i play now however its polished but a little kiddish graphics a little outdated but a great game
Since you may not have heard of it, I'd like to suggest Dawntide. It's in beta testing at the moment, but there is no NDA, and it's rather easy to become a tester. You can read up on it yourself at dawntide.net/info.html, but I'll make a short comment on each of your points:
-Lots of exploration.
It's a sandbox game, so exploration is a given. Whether exploration will be rewarding or not is too soon to tell, but it looks promising. The game world is an archipelago, and new landmass in the form of more islands will be added as (hopefully) the player base grows. An approach similar to EvE, but I for one find islands more interesting to explore than empty space. More about exploration: dawntide.net/exploration_1.html The world currently available for beta testers is rather small, but more islands will be spawned soonTM.
-Good crafting system that is important in the game. Also harvesting the materials would be nice (not just killing monsters and crafting items off the items I just got.)
Dawntide has harvesting and advanced crafting. All but the most basic equipment will be player-made: dawntide.net/crafting_1.html
-Not too much grind/repeating some quests.
DT has slow character progression, but skills that are advanced through use rather than levels and xp. That may, or may not feel like a grind to you: forums.dawntide.net/showthread.php
-Character customisation.
Currently there is no customization (appearance wise) whatsoever. Everyone looks the same. This won't be the same at release, of course, but may be a turn off for joining the game now.
-Okay community and not too empty world.
Community is great, but small. There is no guarantee that the world will ever be full, but at least it is not over the top and dying yet!
-f2p or p2p with trial.
P2P, but free while it's in beta of course.
-Player driven
Yes, though there will be storyline quests and GM arranged events.
-I'm not graphics whore nor I care if it's 10000gb and requires good computer or if it's browser game with crappy graphics.
The game looks decent, but not impressive: dawntide.net/gallery.html It is built using the same engine as Oblivion and Fallout 3, though, so there's certainly reason to think they will improve.
((-Player housing ))
...is in! In the current stage of beta you can build cottages and place them anywhere. Placement will be restricted later on. Probably to lawless lands where there is full pvp, but may be allowed in "low security" areas where you have good standing with the controlling NPC faction.
Anyway, if the game looks interesting, sign up for beta at dawntide.net/beta.html or go to their forums. Existing testers can hand out invites to friends, so a little activity on the forums may get you a long way. Of course, I know all games in development have raving fan-boys bragging about their favorite upcoming game, but at least with this one there is no NDA, so any information you want is freely available.
I got into beta today. Being active on IRC helps a lot.

Of course I have heard of it! I think I ever signed up when the website was way more empty. It looks intresting and I may try my best to get the key if I don't get hooked to eq2/ryzom or buy vanguard. But for sure I'll check videos, screens etc of dawntide if I can find them
At the moment I am enjoying everquest 2 very much, but what I don't like in EQ2;
-Quests are all the same, "collect or kill" things.
-SoE launches sucks, crashes etc.
-can't buy it with paypal I think.
What I like;
-Beautiful
-Races & Classes
-^Customization
-Crafting.
Any other game I should try?!
Since you played, and enjoyed, Runescape, I assume you have tried Ultima Online? If not, you should. It's ancient, but 2D graphics age much better than 3D graphics. Oh, and check your PMs if you haven't already.
WURM
Has terraforming, housing, crafting, player-villages, good looking worlds.
Lacks good looking models, animations, and combat is boring.

is Dawntide open pvp?
Currently, yes. At release it will most likely be tiered similar to EVE. I.e. starting areas (25% of the game world) have no/very limited pvp. Borderlands (50% of the game world) are NPC controlled and have guards, but you are free to attack anyone. Lawless lands are player controlled with full pvp and also full loot. The pvp consequence system is yet to be tested, though, and at the moment players tend not to attack eachother randomly even if it's possible.

Yeah, I know it as you have been advertising it all over the forums. It alos fills almost every requirement I want, but theres lack of players :S

It's in beta...scratch that, it should be called Alpha, imo. Fallen Earth had more content in Alpha.
This isn't to say it's bad, or that it's not worth trying, just that they don't have much in yet. They only have the frameworks for about half the skillsets and schools so far and you can only be one race so far with the ability to choose male/female and no customization.
They're working on it.
Right now it's in REALLY early phases of testing.
This is a good thing though. The developers are active in the community and do listen to and weed out good/bad/popular suggestions made by the community. Some of the devs are even active on IRC! =]
The game runs well so far too, even on my nVidia Geforce 8600M GT. I'm looking forward to what comes later while still enjoying what they have now. =D

Oops...Haven and Hearth...right...
Yeah I didn't like Haven and Hearth. I tried to like it but could not for the life of me find a plot of land not covered in someone else's crap that was accessible without the need to swim...
Sorry about that man. xD

My fave game is FFXI,but it is not for everyone,so i will have to say EQ2.The problem with any game i could mention,is that they are all sort of older, the zones before end game will be sort of empty.
Eq2 is a COMPLETE game, however like most games, you will need to find a party or a few players to complete the better quests.Outside of FFXI,you are pretty much going to find every mechanic in EQ2 that you would see in most other games. There is of course the odd exception, trivial things however, that really should not change your decision of a game.
I like Eq2's crafting, you can avoid the tougher quests and solo if you want. The thing i found in EQ2 that i did not find in any other game, was the willingness of players to group. There might only be 8 total players in a zone, but there is a good chance 6 of them will party.
There is TONS of quests in EQ2,several starting cities/towns.You harvest in hopes of finding RARES,that is what allows you to craft your own elite gear or elite spells.Yes you craft spells in EQ2,that is a different twist to most games, and they have tiers/rank.
If you did play,i believe it was one of the mage class that had a fun spell called FREE FALL[i think lol].Anyhoot it allows you to literally jump off very high cliffs down to safety, without injury. The game has meaningful guild activities.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Fourth day on trial, I'm Half-Elf monk pretty nice game sometimes gets more boring than Vanguard so I'm not sure which to play
When I started crafting in Aion I was like "man this is awesome". Then I got to the point when I needed to fly to gather that crap in the air and I was like "man this sucks" and haven't played since =( Not to mention the gold farmers have totally jacked up that games economy.
Tried FE to about lvl 20. It seemed as though everyone did crafting (maybe not higher up) so it was like all the stuff I was crafting was just my own. Other than that the crafting system was pretty cool. Gathering is typical. I did like the fact that I used everything I crafted.
I'm downloading Ryzom now. Been hearing a lot about it lately so maybe that will help with any population problems it has.
I can't believe I'm also thinking of looking into EQ2 after some of the stuff I have read. EQ1-Kunark was my first MMO and after that I swore I would never play another SoE game again. Then ther was PlanetSide. What the hell, at this point I don't have anything to lose. I'm so tired of everything else.
I'm personally gonna try DOMO out myself since it's free, boasts crafting and you can fly on a weapon.
Unfortunately, the anime graphics will probably turn most off to the game.
