My dream MMO. GoW based

 Alright...(drum roll) Gears of War MMO(RPG?)FPS  ^_^

Just think about it for a second. Gears is probably one of the most hardcore FPSs out.  The end game and main 'missions' of it would be a PvPvE element. (No abyss dont worry) Imagine like a huge wild lotus beast that gets out of control and in the midsts of this there's a fight of like 15v15. The death penalties would be brutal- you'd loose the same amount of xp that the other person gains and the only team that would get anything out of this big brawl would be the teams that wins- their loot would be x2 the xp earned in the fights, they would also be the only team to get xp from the lotus, along with loot (not sure how loot would work).

Character advancement- I had two ideas about how you would develop as the game goes on.  either it would play in tiers and you'd be with poeple your own level (in this scenario your health would increase along with damage and stuff) or  a COD like thing with basically the higher level just means more customization to move around your attributes and more weapon add-ons.

Thinking about the game at the very end would be like a sitiuation where its a huge xp risk and most of the time neither faction wins. (the loot would be amazing and extremely rare)

Another thing in the game would be a no gain/penalized pvp arena and a simple grinding area like a bigger or different Horde.

Idk this just seams really cool to me. Unlike other MMOFPS where you die to quick, this would make you take your time and use great teamwork

Exp loss death penalty - No.

Nothing for the losing side - NO. This is what WAR tried, and, while it works perfectly in real life, it causes losers to become angry and quit in a game.

So, your idea is good, but your mechanics aren't. In my opinion, anyways... if you really are convinced your way is best, that's fine.

You know you failed hard when you call a game that isn't a FPS one of the most hardcore FPS out there.

I guess it could have no exp loss. I was trying to think of something that would piss you off if you lost cause gears is one of those games that im always angry at yet I still play it for some reason

TPS looks and sounds nasty as an acronym, though. FPS is also Frames-Per-Second (smooth and sexy, if you have a high number) while TPS is also a TPS report (...ew).

It should reach through the Internet, through your monitor, and then punch you in the face while calling your mom fat. That'd make me angry but I'd still play it.

no, no it's not.  Arma 2, Battlefield 2 (With mods), Call of duty 4 (with mods) and Operation flashpoint are 'hardcore'
What you wrote underneath is pretty much what Tabula Rasa was

Cod has the worst advancement system for an online fps.  Maybe in an MMOFPS it might be acceptable but the kind of stuff they unlock basically takes away chances for a new player to compete.

and then what?  MMO's never end so you can't really have anything like the Gears of War endings.

Nice ideas but a gears of war MMO would not work well at all, wait and see how the upcoming MMOFPS pan out (The Agency, Huxly) and see how it evolves.  Currently its uncharted waters.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

I wasn't even going to reply to this thread till I read this.

    WTF?

What CoD are you talking about? I've played them all and I can't think of one where this fits. I play CoD4 the most and I've played it a lot. I ALWAYS use the MP5, which is given at lvl 0 (or w/e). I just recently lost my account because of the Win7 upgrade and I forgot my stuff. Guess what? I'm still rockin top slot. I wish I had my Dead Silence (given at General) and my 3 Frag Grenades (given at Col or something) , but none-the-less still rockin top spot every-single-time on any server I pop in on.

Sounds like a common case of "I suck, so this game sucks".

sorry should have made that clear, Call of Duty 4 and World at war.

And no i don't suck at the game but i can't stomach how crap the multiplayer is.  Some of the unlocks are just plain rediculous and hardly promote fair gameplay.  Battlefield 2142's unlocks seemed a lot more balanced (in my opinion).

Which one? Dead Silence, Frag x3, and UAV Jammer are my favs and none of those even work if you're not good at the game in the first place. I can do w/o them no problem.

Martydom and Last Stand shouldn't even be in the game period, but they are fair because they come at very low levels. Unfair in the fact that you drop an grenade out your butt when you die, but in the sense you're talking about.... they are completely fair.

Haven't played BF 2142, but BF2's unlocks were EXTREMELY overpowered. I once pumped 70 rounds of 5.56 ammo into a guy from a freaking SAW (machine gun) and he still stabbed me to death or something. I quit that game and the BF series a long time ago after that. Even with an IBA that has 7.62 rated plates, 4 5.56 rounds is going to hurt you or kill you. I could see the guy killing me after 10 or 15 rounds, cause it's a game and all, but 70 was absolutely ridiculous.

Don't even get me started on the fact that in BF2, you have to spend the first 10 levels or so going around scrounging dropped weapons to even have a chance of killing someone at or near the top levels. Where in CoD4, the best people (including me) use NONE of the higher level weapons except sometimes the G36.... maybe a few skills but none of the kills are really effective unless you know what you're doing anyway.
