It is interesting to see where Aion and CO are sitting in box pricing, already. $25.99 for either title, after less than 2 months? It usually takes about 6 months to hit those prices. There's obviously some overstock out there.
Is that price accurate? Is Aion really selling for $26 now?
Those are private retailers. Gamestop and Best buy still have both games at $49.99. Newegg has them at $46.99 but that's their usual price for new games.
Not sure how that matters. You have 2-3 high rep resellers on Amazon selling the game NIB for $22-24.99.
I'm not picking on the game, I'm just sayin', you don't normally see those kinds of prices for months. Even a relative flop like WAR was still around $30 several months out.
I know this because that's generally how I buy MMO's... wait til' they're cheap enough where you're almost getting the box for free(15-20 bucks plus free month).
There are also other private retailers with similar ratings selling it for over $50, one even as high as $58.99.
What I'm trying to say here is that just because a few private individuals on Amazon's marketplace are selling it for $22, it doesn't mean that that's the recommended box price, which is what the first post I quoted implied. Everywhere else--Gamestop, Newegg, Bestbuy, EBGame, even regular Amazon for that matter--the box price is still going for $45+.
Is the game losing players? Absolutely! But I don't think that it's as bad as you're claiming.
BTW, I'm far from an Aion fanboi, I just don't agree with your opinion about that whole Amazon thing.
Well, if you skip back through my handful of posts here, you'll see I'm not really saying it, either. Matter of fact, most of my earlier posts were pretty much what you're saying; the number on, say, Xfire are indicative of a TREND, but the play number getting cut in half doesn't mean half the player base cancelled.
Besides, an excess number of boxes on the market (as I think the cheap resellers indicate)doesn't say anything at all about player retention. It just means that fewer people bought the game than production targetted.
Personally I think, when all is said and done, the game will be significantly profitable.
Who really cares if Aion overtakes WoW? If it does then the ppl playing it will still play it if it doesnt then I am sure they will still play it. Aion isnt going anywhere, ppl will still play it, stats will still be made up for the good or bad and the world will still go on. PPL grow up

The most wise comment, even if it isn't something hard to think up.
People in general just have a tendency of stirring up reactions from others to basically satisfy a thurst. It's similar to an individual craving certain foods at a particular time.
Guess not everyone can be a Buddha or a Christ. If you understand what I'm trying to say...
GRIND sucks? You wanna be max level in a month? Since when did society award easy-goers and lazy-fools? MAKES ME PHOBIC OF STUPIDITY!
Got love the almost edduated responses to derail the Op's opinion. The Stock market shows us all we need to know, it pretty much destroys any effort to roll out complete fluff about how the game is doing. If the game was a major success and the retention rate of subs was high, the stock wouildn't have dropped so hard on the Koream market. The fact that Tera is almost ready for beta phases is another dent in NcSofts armor. Anyone who has been apart of an ncsoft product, knows the promotional patterns by now. NcSofts P.R. tatics are old and dated, and the op has valid aurguments.
Before Aion touch US/EU shores it was a mass success.Aion does not need to be mass success in NA/EU market.Reality is Aion just to needs to medicore in US/EU market and right now it looks slight above average.Aion is the perfect game for NCsoft after Tabla Rasa they need a solid performer and Aion is just that ,Aion has no big flaws and will probably never do anything to cause a mass exodus of players.
Ask the question name what game other than WoW that Aion would trade place with EvE?No,Aoc?No.War?No,Darkfall?No.If Aion has a only million subs worldwide it still be much bigger success than closest game which is at 300,000 subs.
What's going in aionsource is only a result of not having enough PR going on between NCSoft West and its community. A month and a half after launch, the GMs still couldn't use their official forums (which is usually a big no-no in the industry). I'm not saying the current Aion representative are not doing their job, I just think NCSoft should have hired a lot more representatives (GMs, Forum posters, ...) to stir up the community into a proper direction.
When not well listened at, a community (in this case, the aionsource forum community, which is a very small segment of the Aion player community) usually gets more and more frustrated, and in the end we just end up with a massive amount of poop-threads.

Since Zorndorf likes Xfire, he will probably like these korean stats
1. Aion : playtime 1,079,662 share 17.78%
5. World of Warcraft : playtime 317,857 share 5.24%
