I thought this was a pvp game?

RustymanRustyman Member Posts: 3

I have been ginding it out, somewhat enjoying the pve game, but also somewhat annoyed that they don't have tierd bg's or zones for pvp.

I have recently participated in a keep take.   Once it became vunable about 100 or so of my faction showed up and we zerge dthe keep in about 10 min with little resistance besides the keep lord.  The other pvp I have seen in the abyss has been ganking or a few small groups roaming and picking off those leveling.

Sooo  is there more to this game pvp related?   I left wow, hoping for a daoc or something better than wow, but so far I am not seeing it....

Stupid sieging and ganking noobs at the abyss is all that's aion is about.

Tiered Battlegrounds is fail PvP.  Can't stand pvping in a controlled non-chaotic environment, might as well play checkers.  Killing noobs is what makes PvP fun, especially when people get pissed off enough and they call their friends to help thats the challenge.

PvP in Aion is what you make it, go hang around one of the main cities with your kisk stone, and try to pick off noobs, you will understand PvP in Aion then.

     Love you long time!

So PvP in Aion consists of picking off noobs? Wow. That sounds so awesome.

Agreed. Killing someone who stands absolutely no chance against you is what real PvP is all about.

Real PvP is all about challenge. Do you carebears know how challenging it is to avoid players who can actually fight back (and probably beat you), while looking for low level newbs to wtfpwn?

Welcome to any modern MMO world PvP. Its the same all over, because the games are made that way, and because people want to behave that way.

    Heiron, around Jeiaparan Village.

Every day, multiple times a day there's Asmodean rift-groups killing us until we gather enough force to kill them off.

Levels are about 40+ (except me, lvl38 only but still having a say and having fun). Challenging, yes. Fun, yes. Easy, no.

Aion is a cruel world, although the appearance may suggest something else.

So..... Aion PVP is the same as WOW PVP but WOW got 10X better PVE? TBH.. Aion was the game that i fell sleep on keyboard while lvling till i gave up then unsubed >,<

Aion pvp is bland at best. Its either go to the abyss and fly around ganking people who are fighting or get ganked yourself. Or hope for a rift to spawn and more than 1 person to actually come out of it, or go through rift and watch as your disorganized team gets ripped to shreds by awaiting opposing faction.

Other than that its just zerg v zerg at fortresses and at artifacts, have the time its just you v the npcs.

Frankly I was expecting a lot more from the sieges, they are rather bland and just involve rushing to the diety and then zerging it like mindless chickens..whoever has more people wins. Putting the forts on such long cooldown timers was silly, it takes away any randomness.

Can't really tell, because my WoW is limited to 2 attempts on trial and both ended the way you just described.

PvP was soooooooooo overhyped and overexaggerated. It's nothing more than an over-hyped giant empty, dull zone where you gank or be ganked. That is the gist of PvP. Seige is nothing special, either. You feel like you're not part of it at all.

You do realize that the same exact thing is happening on every single PvP server in WoW? Especially in the Hillsbrad Foothills area.

Hell, now that I think about it, WoW's PvP servers are even more hardcore because after level 20 the only safe zones are capital cities. Players are freely attackable by the opposite faction pretty much everywhere, and since both factions can level in the same zones, there is much more PvP going on.

Dunno, maybe WoW isn't for me?

But the real question is whether I should go to WoW forums and shout out my experiences and feelings about that game there or not?

I think not, but I might be wrond and should take example from some individuals here in MMORPG.com.

I wasn't trying to be witty or anything, just an honest remark.

There ARE differences between the games, after all. Though a lot of people won't admit to it.

Tell me what is NOT overhyped in Aion?

In fact you ask "is it a pvp game?", most others in these threads seem to ask .... "is it a game?".

I tell you what it is: it is NOT a PvP game, and it certainly is NOT a PVE game.

It's a money grabber: kill monsters for 40.000.000 xp to 60.000.000 xp points each time with a yelling "Y-ahk" scream.

And then ... gain one more level after waisting a few hundred hours more of your precious time.

The new Korean "standard" in MMO design :)))

That "never seen" 87% given on mmorpg.com really gets a very bad taste these days...

Luckily there are some serious reviews like the UK PC Gamer review which gave it a "6", meaning really a C minus.

As opposed to the overall bland leveling experience in WOW that consists of quest grinding all the way to cap to reach max level and be forced into either instanced PVP or the same instances over and over.

Each has their cup of tea. Go back and attend yours before I jack that shit. Leave my tea alone.

You're posts are always nothing but meaningless dribble...

I'll let you in on something... you're offering nothing to the forums by posting crap and you're certainly not very funny, even if you think you are.

So maybe - not post if you have nothing worthwhile to say?

Does seem like the PvP in this game is almost all about ganking. It's a small consolation that you get the same PvP rewards, for PvE in places where you have to put up with being ganked constantly. They should increase the reward drop-off for level gaps between ganker and gankee, but then you've still got all these fools who think racking up a kill count makes them look badass.

I think this might change when more players are closer to endgame. The abyss will be full of high levels, rather than just the few who go around picking off low levels trying to get their abyss quests out of the way.

I don't know though, since I still have 18 longer and longer levels to go. For me, the big question is whether or not I'll care about PvP, once I'm level 50. I think, probably not, since abyss points are just a way to get better equipment, as far as I can tell.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

I think like you said when more are no more focuing on leveling they will focus more on pvp.

The problem in open world pvp (yeah I know it's only in the abyss but is it instanced? no) is that you can pk everyone around wether they like it or not while in instanced battlegrounds there's almost always tactics since you need to have a group that most of the times is equal to the opposing one.

So I think that it will change when more will be higher I experienced some helping fellows when high lvl elyos started camping lower level asmodians then they wiped their arses :P
