I as many others was not too impressed to see that after bying the game...there was 'premium content' which would force me to couph up another 20-40 bucks. I can understand this content being added later for players to buy...as a mini-expansion. But to seriously have it available to buy on the first day of release is a pathetic money grab. Saying they essencially held back some content of the the game, while developing it to add this extra content. This tells the customer...$60 isn't enouph for the full game, $100 is more worth it.
I find it pathetic when posters flat out lie to try and justify their position. The total cost of premium content is $7.00 US, and that is for the Warden's Keep. The Stone Prisoner and Blood Dragon Armor are included with every new retail purchase, no additional charge.
Also, the reason that 'The Stone Prisoner' and 'The Warden's Keep' are available at launch is because EA delayed the PC release to that of the consoles. If the PC version was released earlier this year as intended by Bioware, then everyone would be paying for $15 US for the 'The Stone Prisoner' instead of having it included in the retail price of the game.
Downright lie?
The stone prisoner costs 1200 points
the Wardens Keep costs 560 points.
That is 1760 points = $7.00 for 560 points and $20.00 for 1600 points. So that equals $27.00. I bought retail purchase and did NOT get 'Stone prisoner'. But I did get a code for the dragon armor...which I used and never recieved the armor or quest on how to get the armor.
I am not lying to justify anything...no more than I feel you are lying to justify your position.
Also if you are gonna tell me they are charging for extra content because it was delayed...that is total crap. There is no reason at all why PC users should be charged. If these two quests are included in the console versions, then they should be free to download f or the PC version.
So what about that cost. All expansions cost money and they always have. You need to learn to deal with it.

Good for them, they can always find suckers out there, so why not fleece the poor dumb bastards, my only wish is they'd charge double for the DLC for people that defend this move on forums or whatever, call it a loyalty tax, you'll still pay it, so why not?

If you don't like the concept of the expansion I suggest you hop back onto your ps2 and get right back into the saddle of your little pony.

I know really, WHAT are those people thinking?!
Listen to this muppet, already in denial.
Your precious Bioware just launched a single player game with micro transaction features.
You are still hoping that TOR wont be that way?
Really?
You mean, BioWare just launched a game with 60+ hours of game play with the OPTION to purchase DLC if you wanted more. By the way it's $7 for the DLC, get a job. The initial payment would keep people happy without having to purchase the DLC. This is nothing new, Bethesda did it but I never seen any complaining and their DLC was pretty bad.
ToR doing something like this remains to be seen. I would be fine with paying for content minus the monthly fee. The fact that they are discussing this with the community makes me feel a lot better. It's rare to see a company ask the community what type of payment plan they would be interested in. This is something you normally see with a indie company, even then it's not all the time.
I would expect that we could see flashpoints to have story like all of Dragon age is. But outside of those, I expect it to be a normal MMO. Just better.
They did this with Neverwinter Nights...I'm not sure what the Big Boo Hoo is anyone familiar with Bioware knows they've been into Digital Download content since Neverwinter Nights 1 and its various expansions. I paid 64 dollars and I got everything all the DLC, all the items etc etc. People really need to learn how to shop around to find the best deal.
These aren't microtransactions they're Add Ons for the game if you don't want them fine use the Tool Set and make your own extra content. Add ons are standard fair with PC games even single player ones.
If your not familiar with Bioware you should go boo hoo somewhere else..welcome to the age of Digital Transactions...Not all of them are A rip off like say 10 dollar pets from WoW.
This game kept me awake every night for about a week (luckily I didn't have anything to do), I think I got quality for my 49,9 euros.
I spend over 70 hours on my first playthrough, yet according to all the achievements I've appeared to have missed, I still only completed about 50% of the total content available...
I won't be playing another character right away, because I just don't like doing that, but I'll be at it for many hours to come when my first experience has settled down a bit.
Not many games offer that amount of content anymore, although a lot have started to use the payed DLC's...
If there's a good place to complain about this, it isn't this game, it delivered grandly DLC or not.
The only thing they shouldn't have done imo, is to advertise their products ingame (although advertising is a stretch, the npc's that start the dlc quests notify you of the nature of these quests).
...
Effect on TOR: not much imo, they'll be two different games, but DA:O did confirm my trust in BW.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

The Muppets was a hilarious show. You on the other hand are a different sort of funny. The sad pathetic kind.
I just hope they wont make us buy quests with real money, quest that grant exclusive in game rewards, like they did with dragon age. Trend anyone? I just feel slightly disturbed to see bioware do this.
WOW are you serious?I didn't know they did that with the game, that is real sad money grinding.Funny when i keep hearing all this SOE hate, and i see so many developers raping or ripping off their player base.
Did they at least announce on the package that you had to pay to get the whole game?imo they are not extras they are the game and are trying to grind more money out of you.IMO it is grounds to ask for a refund,no way a game should be asking for more money after you already purchased it,i don't care how they try to disguise it,it is still a lie and bs.
The more i read into EA the more i realize what a crooked operation they are. They are trying to recoup that 400 million they spent buying PLAYFISH by layoffs[nice way to reward your employees who helped to make you millions] saving 100 million and ways like this to grind more money out of their faithful customers.IMO EA deserves a slap a good one ,try not supporting them for their antics,it is a good way to send the message LOUD and clear.
Thats why I refuse to buy dragon age, Im not spending 60 bucks and have them nickle and dime another 40 out of me by the time its all said and done. Ill just wait until the price drops enough to where i can get all of the game for less than 60. What their doing is a massive rape job and people dont care.
You're full of crap, tbh. In Dragon Age you get easily 40h of gameplay in a single playthrough, without any DLC. That's at least 2x as many as any other singleplayer game.
Even if you don't buy the DLC - without which you can still play the game perfectly well - it's *amazing* value for money, especially since the game is very well suited for multiple replays.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

Agreed, people need to get the facts straight before spewing misinformation as if it is a fact.
You DO NOT NEED the DLC to progress in the game, nor does not having it limit you at all. You simply don't get access to the DLC quests, as expected.
40H of gameplay, per origins storyline. So that is easily 160H of gameplay from just the main origins campaigns.
Anyone who doesn't think this is a deal for the price, and quality, is kidding themselves or needs to find another genre of gaming to involve themselves in.
DAO is the best single player rpg experience since the beginning of the decade.

Micro transactions in a single player game lol.
Imagine what will it be like in their MMO.
So much for your precious Bioware, raped by EA heh.
