Combat Looks Intriguing

From what I have read (just starting reading up on FFXIV) the combat system looks like it could be REALLY awesome.  I'm completely burned out on the Holy Trinity dynamic (tank-healer-dps), and since FFIV seems to be moving away from that, sounds great to me.  Given that they want things to be more strategic (I think what they must mean is tactical, but that's semantics) I'm hopeful that this means when you assemble a group together the game leaves it pretty open how you'll put all of your skills to use.  Personally, I love coming up with plans, so I think this will make the group dynamic so much more fun and stronger than in other games (where it is largely formulaic and there isn't much room to be imaginative).  Hopefully there will be some ways to push/pull enemies, restrict their movements, etc, as that sort of thing adds a lot of tactical depth.

Anyhow, here's to the seeming reality that FFXIV won't be "person X gets hit, person Y heals, everyone else damages in the proper order" and more stuff like "ok, our warrior is keeping one of them busy, but that guy we knocked off to the side to buy some time is getting close again, so person B, you go knock him to the far side of the warrior, and C go maneuver your guy near there to so you and person D can unleash their area attacks, then the warrior stun them temporarily and retreat a bit so you don't get overwhelmed once they get their wits about them again, but make sure you keep yourself between the monsters and the casters so they don't get charged" (e.g. more dynamic).
