Confusion on shipping

I want to pre-order and im a little confused. I can pre-order EQ2 and receive my character creator and/or jboots via my pre-ordered copy. However they call for 4/6 weeks delivery for the CD's to come in. The game will be live for what a month or so before that time? I would like to start the day it releases not when my CD's decide to come in. When they talk about "shipping" on the 8th, does that mean shipping pre-ordered copies to those who have purchased or just to the retailers? Little confused if anyone can help me a bit.

I think that's the day they ship to anyone who ordered the game as well as to retailers. I dont know your situation, but if you want to pre-order and have all your extra items the same day you get the game, you should pre order through your local game store. That way you can go home with the preorder box and go pick it up the day it arrives at the store which will probably be the 9th. No muss, no fuss, and no agonizing over shipping times. however, since you are considering mail order, i assume you probably live in an area without a gamestop or ebgames nearby.
