SGW : Current Information - (11/11/09)

Short Overview
Like 90% of first-time companies, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment hit financial issues in regards to completing and launching they're game : Stargate Worlds. Since this began in late 2008/early 2009, the company has had various changes:

  • Investors were given more control over where money goes.
  • Management was changed in order to compensate for the lack of staff & indeed to better maximise potential
  • The Dev team size was reduced, allowing more control over what was done, better finance control in the way of pay, etc.

Present Day
So whats going on today? Well there have been a few direct messages/statements from various management rep's from CME. Most recently was Shane Hensley on the official forums :

Hi all,

There's no real news at this point except to say that there's a group of about 40 people here working and we're doing fine despite occasional and unfortunately frequent delays in our funding. Our development team has gone above and beyond in handling these conditions, but believe in the work we're doing and that it will all be worthwhile in the end.

We have a number of investor groups putting considerable effort and personal funds into the company, but the requirements are high and it's an ongoing process. The leaders of these groups have complete transparency into our operations and have expressed their constant enthusiasm and support for what we're doing.

We realize you want more information, including confirmation on products and solid dates, but we can't do so until our finances are solid enough to be sure that what we announce is sure to occur.

Thanks as always for your patience and understanding. The developers here are an incredible bunch and I personally can't wait until you see the work they've done.

Shane

Registration/Beta/Accounts
One phase of Beta ended in 2008, since the finance issues that have hounded development, Beta was never resumed. Issues regarding the Beta opt-in service & registration arisen a month or so back.

One thing to remember with the accounts issues atm, is that the account to opt into beta is entirely separate from a forum account. Forum accounts are 100% working.

Click Here for a small F.A.Q.

Additional
If there are any issues/questions (that are within reason & compiling with forum policy) please don't hesitate to ask here. Additionally you can create a forum account and post Here.

Way to parrot what the developers want people to hear. You left out all the critical information about Gary, MMOGULs and most impostant of all...

    LAWSUITS!

See this thread for the real story!

You failed to include a few current facts in your update:

    1. CME/Firesky is not working on Stargate Worlds. The game is basically shelved until they finish their interim title and possibly get cash flow from that release (assuming the lawsuits don’t take them down before then).
    2. Current day employees (Total company employees around 30’ish) are ‘again’ months behind in receiving paychecks. [Yes, they are paying current employees before the back pay which should spark more law suits.]
    3. Prior employees & most current employees are still owed back-pay dating back to May, 2009.
    4. The dev team morale is at an all-time low. They have been on this no-pay, late-pay, partial-pay cycle for 16 months.
    5. No real updates from CME/Firesky about what/when they might release their interim game and that tells us it’s nowhere ready for prime time, that MGM has not approved, or that they have not paid the third party vendors from SGW to use the assets in their new game.
    6. MMOGULS has gone into hibernation again. Rumors about its database being sold off to other MLM’s to help pay employees.
    7. Doctor Investor group has gone into hibernation (their web page is gone – assuming the money is too)
    8. Gary Whiting is still at the helm

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share with you!

Doesn't detract from the point that this thread is "supposed" to be a pointer for people to go with any issues.

A very short summary as I stated of what's gone on. I have no intention of trapsing through all the old rubbish a fair chunk of you lot on here seem to love doing.

And until I cannot access the website and forums anymore, the game(s) are still being worked on to my knowledge; and thats what I believe.

What you say may be true, but also may not - regardless of what intent you bring with it.

@ both your other posts. You both need to actually read properly, then learn the definition of troll and also get to know someone before stamping them with a title which bares no fact.

The arrogance and raw flaming that goes on is really mind boggling....

Star gate worlds is is a corpse.

would have been nice to try if it was real but they didn't have the talent to make a MMO.

Cryptic actually CODED Star Trek Online before beta. You know the concept, beta is to test mostly finish software before it goes to retail.  CME put up scraps of code and called it a beta. STO releases 2/2/2010, so no point in me even wasting anymore time on CME vaporware.

A: Yeah, because EIGHT CURRENT LAWSUITS are just "old rubbish" to you... Maybe you are starting to see why none of us take you seriously?

B: You know what? The official website for Dark and Light is still online too! I guess that means you think that game is still "being worked on" too? It takes NO EFFORT to run a website, much less one that isn't even updated more than once a year. Hell I could put up a website for SGW which would probably have more detailed information on the game than what the "official" website contains. That wouldn't mean the game was still being worked on. If you really believe the game is still being worked on just because there is a website then you are obviously INSANE.

C: Yeah, because the goverment website which lists eight different lawsuits is obviously some kind of lie! No way that could possibly be true...(Yes, that was sarcastic!)

Forgot to mention MMOGULs too, a pyramid scheme started by Gary Whiting that has no product (SGW). Which investors are sueing him over in court for $2.5 million as I write this post. Then there's the unpaid taxes and the fact former employees are now sueing for unpaid wages.

I could go on but the point is that CME/Firesky/cash sink studios/SGW are all defunct ... FACT!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

You miss the most important fact. The game was awful. Matrix Online awful!

So with all the "stimulus " money coming from the government to "create jobs" I wonder if Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment (CME)  finally got some...

Dark Helmet: Before you die there is something you should know about us, Lone Star.
    Lone Starr: What?
    Dark Helmet: I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.
Lone Starr: What's that make us?
Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing! Which is what you are about to become.

Maybe!   The current employees are pretending they still havent got paid -- probably to keep the former employees or vendors off their backs.
