I will encourage everyone who sees this to go download and try the Beta. It was not the game for me, but that doesn't man that it won't be the game for other people. Since it is now in open beta, download it, try it out and tell us what you think.

I just did and this thing is literally a WoW clone, but without the smoothness and polishness that wow has.
this game is a FAILURE!
If it's an exact copy I'll stay away.
I downloaded it to witness how awful it was.......its awfulness did not dissapoint. And this game is going to be P2P??? lol good luck with this piece of sh*t.
Currently Playing: Fallen Earth
Played and liked: TCOS, Vanguard, Guild Wars, DDO
Played and didn't like: CO, MO, STO, DF, AoC, WAR, WoW, EQ2, EVE, most f2p
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, Secret World
Is it comparable to any other game out there besides WoW or is it just a reskin basically?
No thanks tried it in the CB, this game is terrible. Its not even in Alpha state.
My brain has 2 sides;Left and right. My left side has nothing right and my right side has nothing left...
Calm down now WoW lovers, the game does look a lot like WoW mostly because of the UI and the crappy cartoony graphics. But hey i still had fun!
I'm not a WoW lover myself, I just want to find out what this game is really like. It's hard to determine from the previous comments if the game is in fact different and worth playing or if it's an exact clone.
Theres no such thing as an " exact clone" but yes it does remind me of world of warcraft, but what can you excpect now days. All that everybody wants is WoW. Every time a new mmo comes out people try it , then leave back to WoW
Really i would say just play the game for about an hour atleast and you should have a good idea where its going, your gonna be doing the same old stuff you were doing at lvl 1even at cap since besides grinding quests there's literally no other content.
Ok so I know this is said a lot, and I know that there is a common "style" when it comes to MMO interfaces. WoW uses it, EQ uses it, AoC, VG, Lotro, and so on.
BUT take a look at this VIDEO showing an EXACT replica of the WoW interface. The font, the location of the "system" button on the bottom, the location of the different buttons to hit for character tab, etc. My god, even the minimap looks the exact same, not to mention the target and character HP bars.
-Computer specs no one cares about: check.
-MMOs played no one cares about: check.
-Xfire stats no one cares about: check.
-Signature no one cares about: check.

-Narcissism: check.
I'm just waiting for GameArena to either confirm/deny my link to the client file - due to my 25GB monthly cap (Australia... don't get me started.)
It looks like it has a fair bit to it that would set it apart from WoW, and not necessarily just little things... like:
-Studying; might be basically what EvE does, but on a less important scale
-Library; pretty cool compendium of info, right there in the world - good for immersion freaks (who hate going to websites, etc.)
-Fog of War; I hate entering an area, say, in WoW, and then having it "EXPLORED: MULGORE" or something, just because I've walked in the entrance. If I've walked in a house, it doesn't mean I've seen the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, etc. - my map should reflect that, I suppose this is what they're trying to do.
-Kudos; pretty cool system, will make terrible players not group up as often, due to their terrible nature. Possibly abusable - one guy calls one guy an arse, other people are friends with said arse, all "gang negative healer kudos" on him or something.
-Consignment System; pretty much a daily quest level of quest, but more player-based, where players say "I need like, 20 bits of copper ore, I'll give you like, 20 silver" to an NPC, who creates the "quest", and then players can get the quest, run off and get 20 copper ore, come back to the NPC, hand in the "quest", and then the original guy who needed the ore can pick it up. I think that'll be how it works, but hey, I'm waiting on GameArena here still.
-Deities and Crusades; sort of like having various opposing factions that aren't race based - sounds pretty cool, would be better if they added more gods in, but it looks like they're sticking to the tried-and-true 1v1 based thing - even going so far as to call one the God of Order, and the other the God of Chaos.
I dunno, those are all fairly odd little systems that enable a little more immersion than talking in Trade chat - WoW has turned more and more into a game, and less and less from a world, over the last three years or so.

I am playing EVE and it's alright... level V skills are a bit much.
You all need to learn to spell.
I agree that the kudos system sounds cool.
And the consignment system is, imho, something that every MMO which aspires to have an economy should implement.
Last I fired up the beta, though, there was no sign of either of these features.
I've tried it and it's not bad, all the right parts are there and the game has the art style that suits me, but... something is just off. I don't know, I think it needs some more polish in it's tech department before it can be released,
I am sure some people will enjoy it, I just couldn't get past the same old feeling of quest grinding, especially when the end goal is to do the exact same thing, dungeon/raid grind. Also the study system is not as casual friendly as they want you to believe, my 3rd point in fire and flame as a magus took 1day 16 hours... are casual players going to log in at the exact times their study is up? If not then it's more of a hardcore feature for people who always log in.
Also, I don't want to play one class for 6 months until the class I really want to play becomes available, give up all the studies/time/gear/skills/trade skills I invest in that character to play the class I wanted to play from the beginning.

if by some miracle, you've never played WoW, then give alganon a go. if you are with the rest of the world it stinks. not because its bad but because it is yet another wow clone. down to every last detail. the only thing i could see that was different was that your gold is displaye on screen always, rather than opening your bag.
the graphics are shinier than vanilla wow but pale even compared to TBC and suck vs wrath. the gameplay isnt all that smooth but it is better than WAR.
gotta hand it to them in that respect, 2 companies set out to carbon copy wow and the indy dev actually managed it, while the billion dollar game floundered quite spectacularly
Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man!
The study system imo sucks, first of all you barely get a boost in anything if you train, secondly there's barely any skills to train like maybe 30 max? And lastly, it takes a whole month to train one skill. Most people wouldn't even notice it after setting up skills =3

lol. It gets worse and worse..its not just the on screen UI thats the same..I mean, hand crafted, the loot window is also a direct copy and even appears in the same part of the screen as wows default. The loot animation looks the same as wow. The info pop ups are the same as wows with a different colour "!". the skills book is the same as wows, even with the side tabs. the talent trees are the same, even with the background image and same 3 tabs on the base. the friends and guilds tab is the same, with the same info set up. The escape menu is the same. The options panel is exactly the same. Its just unbelieveable.
What about the actual skills themselves? Im guessing a lot of rip offs from wow there too, or did they actually come up with their own ideas?
some skills and skill icons are directly copied, i hear some abilities were too but not sure.
I downloaded, installed, created a character, played for 5 minutes, logged out and uninstalled...pretty much says it all;P
Pretty much, nuff said.
What struck me as somewhat funny was that Alganon seems to have copied everything entirely, and I mean everything and then wrapped it up in a new skin. The company, Quest Online, claims the game has been built from scratch and handcrafted to be unique and enjoyable yet all I have seen thus far has been a first cousin of WoW.
I think it would be safe to say that we could avoid all these WoW clones if Blizzard could copyright the UI design and placement as well as the character creation setup, quest execution, combat and everything else that makes it WoW. Why are developers doing shit like this? Honestly do they think we're that stupid or are they just extremely daft themselves?
