Double EXP month info/FAQ

Hello everyone. It seems to be creating a lot of buzz with this who bonus thing, and the ingame chat is FLOODED with the same questions, so I hope to help out a bit, and give everyone some info about this.

How do I get the double exp? I logged into the game, and I don't think I am getting Double Exp...

You need to /claim. It will be an epic potion named "Double XP Potion". It lasts 24 hours, and lasts through death. You can /claim it as many times as you want in November, so don't worry.

 

WHAT!? Only one potion? This is bullcrap!

See the above answer. You can keep /claiming it. Hell, it sells for 4 tin, so make yourself rich by /claiming, selling, and /claiming. lol.

 

Does this double exp potion stack with the vet potions?

No, it does not, so save them please!

 

I don't seem to be getting double exp on quests... Why is that?

The double exp applies ONLY to kill exp, NOT quest exp.

 

How come I keep killing mobs of different levels, but I get the same amount of exp for them?

There is an exp cap per mob. So, there is a max exp per mob, based on your level. So, if that cap is 200exp, and the mob is worth 100exp, it is doubled to 200. If you kill another one worth 110, it doubles to 220, but you can't go above the 200exp cap, and lose that extra exp.

 

Is "chain kill" exp doubled?

It seems like it does not. However, this is likely due to the fact that the exp is capped anyway, so that bonus exp from the "chain kill" is just lost.

 

Do you have any other questions? Feel free to ask and answer here. Not trying to bash or praise anything here. Just giving out info that people seem to not know.

    Hard to say. I think the answer is twofold. First, they want to get people to subscribe. A lot of people don't want to play a new MMO, and deal with the "grind". With this, a lot of new players will think "Wow, double exp? I can level up fast this month, and hit cap by December, and it will lessen the "new player" impact".

    Second, they want to help retain thier current subs. If someone has an 80 or two, and wants another alt, but just can't bring themselves to burn all that time leveling someone new (as many people feel) then they can at least nudge them closer to making a new alt by increasing exp speed. This is the same with the "free level 50 char" that they were offering. If you combine the two, a lot of people that are on the fence about making an alt have a VERY good chance of just going for it.

    You also forgot that most that played for first 2 months are level 40-70ish.

    I guess it's sad though that to keep the veterans, the only thing they can come up with is "roll alts, we will help you xp"...

    Putting out a double exp month is MUCH easier and faster to do than make new content. :P I am not justifying them, but it is hardly something that took resources away from any developement that they might be doing.

    Yep they are using all the tricks to keep players from leaving. All the tricks except actually giving the players fun, non-bugged content.

    Next month it will be triple xp I guess.

    How would you know... Its obvius from your right out wrong statements that you dont even play the game.

     I still have fun playing this, clearly there is something wrong with me.  

     

    But really, double XP is great. Hopefully it will make lower level Mini's bit more active.

    I think their strat is "leveling content now... endgame content in expansion" :)

    so ya, gonna be sidelines and soda pop till after expansion (least for me)

    Just when you think you have all the answers, I change the questions.

    So before i bother installing this game again to try this out. At 80 is there anything new to do other than the one new area in the city?

    There's Xibaluku and Iron Tower, so not much and better gear awaits you by killing Vistrix which is over a year-old instance. Funcom logic winz

    Nice post. Yes I got thisEmail  so I will be heading back to the game at the weekend to finish leveling up my alt, I ran out of free-play with him the last time I played AoC. When I last played the game with my 80 it was buggy with lots of issues, but later I tired with the return offer and it was quite fun with a new alt using DX10 graphics, I got into the 60s with that character before my time ran out. Have to say, though, that Dragon's Age has eaten a  lot of my time recently, a real blast, will be interesting to see how the 60s+ content matches up this time, if it looks okay i might try a sub for the secret world beta offer too.

    Because it will drag in a lot of 1-2 month subs. And that is still money.
