That is a grind now? Hah.
Aion will continue to do well. There is still very popular in asia after a year and there is no reason to assume it will be any different here.

2 weeks of 24/7 gaming. If you would play 6 hours a day it would mean 2months.

To topic. AoC and WAR was built on already known/familiar worlds. So there was more expectations to be met. Like AoC is cruel and bloody world. WAR is also about constant war between races.

As far as I know Aion has its own built storyline, world and everything.

Game isnt bad overall, it is polished to some degree, but it doesnt implement anything new to MMORPG. Or at least I dont see it.

Actually he played about 15 hours a day, so that would mean about 1 month of 7 hours a day, maybe a little more.

So there you have it, you can reach the cap in little over a month fairly easily. So unless you see mmorpgs are short time investments, the game isn't much of a grind.

This is all before the enormous XP boost many quests will get in a planned update.

Obviously you have no idea what grinding means if you think it is about how long it takes you to hit level cap.

I'm pretty sure gameloading knows what grinding means. And that is not what he is saying. He is saying that the current game, with hardcore gameplay doesn't take very long to get to cap.

If it was done completely grinding (no quests) then that is not a lot of game play. considering that a game like lineage 2 took over a year. Heck, there are people who have never hit level with that game.

So if a two week time span is considered a lot of grind, if one thought that was the only way to do it, then that isn't a lot of grinding. As it stands a good amount of xp can be gotten with quests. With the upcoming changes in higher level quests and mob xp, it will smooth thing out considereably for those who hate any type of grinding.

Alot of good points in this thread. The real question, I think is whether or not the current form of quests, really work, long term. I mean, how many times can you blast through a quest or go grind X mobs before you lose interest? Look at Eve, long, long term success with rabid fans. It has quests, but it not really a PvE game per se, it largely player driven.

Could a quest/PvE system be designed that offered interesting elements, long term? Smarter UI? More random variables perhaps?
