During the transfer period, Aventurine is offering Darkfall with a 6 month sub at a drastically reduced price on any server.
Further proof against the rabid anti-darkfall bots that claim AV is out to scam you out of your money.
In b4 one of the regular darkfall haters tries to spin this into some sign that Darkfall is failing and AV is out to scam you

I agree with you that AV isn't a scam studio such as Farlan, also they're offering a great deal for purchasing the game. However I'm they're doing this mainly to help retain subscriptions they already have for longer and to a lesser extent attract new customers. Since if AoC made such an offer I'd never go back (even for free!) but if I was playing and enjoying it right now I might sign up.
I think DFO could do with some more players (Most MMORPGs are in the same boat), but I don't see it as a sign DFO is failing by a long shot. You're correct however that most haters will use it to serve their purposes, if AV offered a free trial it would be a clear indicator to them that DFO was failing.
Failing in my opinion is when there are gamebreaking bugs still in the game a year after launch, failing is when it goes F2P and still no one plays it. Failing is when you couldn't pay me to play the game, that is a failure in my opinion.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

The launch proved it was a scam. It may have gotten better as a game, but it was nowhere near the messiah that Tasos claimed it would be. If at some point they improve the game dramatically I might sub. Lets see if this next "expansion" brings DFO up to par.

Hmmmm, *Agricola waves his hand slowly at Arcken*

Sounds to me like they're just confirming they're hurting for players.

I'd say you're probably right, just how bad I don't know. There are large scale battles and sieges going on everyday, but I don't see many people in starter towns except for at the weekend but still not that many. DFO does need more players and AV will have to work hard to get them, I think it will take them some time to earn a good reputation but I think it is possible. This game (in my opinion) has more than just potential, it already has alot of features that gamers are bitching for on these very boards everyday.
It's just that DFO was hyped by the playerbase as the cure for cancer and got slammed at launch because of that and other problems. AV has a long hard fight on their hands, I hope they can do it.

so because all of the features weren't in that were mentioned its a "scam"?
you do know Darkfall had a rushed release dont you? they had mortal online trying to copy their ideas and threatening to release within a year.
tell me one game that has ever had everything in the game at launch or otherwise that was exactly as it was as in the games manual. I guess all those other companies were out to scam me too huh?
DF is delivering on some of their old "promised" content over time and that is fine by me. I enjoy the game as it is and know it will only continue to get better. It is understandable that not all ideas that were slated for the game went into it after further considerations of factors you obviously aren't capable of comprehending.
Having limited time offer's does not indicate desperation. Every company has sales every now and then.
i know when im considering getting the 6 month sub deal, ive been thinking darkfall might be fun as hell for a while now, haters aside its been getting a spit and polish on some things i have missed since the old days of eq1 and uo dried up long long ago. if i still want it after my self imposed 72 hour waiting period then ima buy it and prolly have a blast =D
This game needs a trial, nuff said. A trial *should* significantly boost the player base if pulled of correctly.
Agreed. Why wouldn't a gaming company offer a free trial, just incase their game sucks and players won't like it?
Trolls = Hardcore
Fanbois = Carebears
The only posts I read in threads are my own.

The problem is, Darkfall is not a game you can get a good opinion on in, lets say, 10 days. You need at least a month to join a clan, now how everything works and be able to compete in PvP. And i don't think Adventurine is ever going to release a 30 day trial, no MMO company would.
In a FFA full loot game, how do you prevent the transfer of materials from paying accounts to non-paying accounts? Typically trial accounts in games without full loot cannot trade or access certain areas.
So essentially you set up 50 trial account guys and harvest and kill them all and take the loot. See the problem?!
I just subbed for 6 months and i am really impressed with this game so far. The controls are a bit different than i am used to, but the graphics are much better than i had heard and the gameplay is great.
Two thumbs up so far, have not been this excited to log into a game in a looong time.
Same. I go to work and can't stop thinking about it.

I'm with you guys as well!
Hm, Darkfall is still $49.99 to buy it? Was going to buy it, but every other MMO is $19.99 to buy them now(and actually have a trial)
what a turnoff.
It's a horrible time to buy Darkfall... and yet the topic here is completely true, because there was never a better time, it has always been a horrible time to buy this game.
Give me a trial, then we'll see. But it's never a good time to buy a game I can't try first.

Or, in a game like DFO, free trails can be used as scam bots. If dfo ever gets a trial it should be seperated from the rest of the game.
Games:
Currently playing:Nothing
Will play: Darkfall: Unholy Wars
Past games:
Guild Wars 2 - Xpiher Duminous
Xpiher's GW2
GW 1 - Xpiher Duminous
Darkfall - Xpiher Duminous (NA) retired
AoC - Xpiher (Tyranny) retired
Warhammer - Xpiher
well i hit my 72 hour deadline and i still wanted to try dfo bad so i went for the 6 month package, 87$ for the game and 6 months of sub time which either breaks down as 15$ a month and 12$ for the game or 50$ for the game like 5$ a month for the sub. those guys are right, theyld never have mass free trials because of the abuse that would occur unless you locked trial accounts out of being able to pvp/harvest/fight mobs, people would set up armies of noob trials and flood nodes and mob camps or clog the line of fire of their enemy with mass noob zergs. im loving the gameplay so far, sure you start out naked broke and heedless, but you have nothing to lose either so you can run out into the world and figure yourself out! also in the first 5 mins of being in a newb assisting clan called anger management asked me if ild like to join so i could learn all the ins and outs, good stuff. anyway back to patching on my laptop so i can work on harvesting and crafting while at work =-D
So you have been tempted? Prepare yourself to feel the full power of the Darkfall side my young padawan!
If you're on EU and looking for a clan send me a PM or /tell me ingame my name is "Agricola Augusta"

Then how come so many posts praising DF in these forums have been by people playing DF only a few days? On the contrary, if DF had a 7 day trial they probably would get many new paying customers. I'm not the only one who will never try DF unless there is a free trial. That's a pool of potential customers that DF will never see.

Haha, me too. I played from work today in a 150 v 200 seige and FUCKING LOVED IT. I've been playing for a week from today.

I have been playing this game for 8 months and still LOVE it. NO game I have played (not even old school UO) has matched the rush you feel in this game, either out PvPing or just out on the possibility of pvp over the hill. The only thing I wasn't a fan of at first was the shooter type combat, but I have come to realize it is more fun and takes more skill so ++
edit: and there will never be free trials as someone else already stated....it would just lead to massive noob siege army's
wouldn´t a free trial be a better incentive to bring more players? as it already stabilished.
Im really looking to try this game, but i dont wanna pay 60 bucks to be lagged(i´m on SA) on a pvp game where each ms is crucial
now: GW2 (11 80s).
Dark Souls 2.
future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord.
"Bro, do your even fractal?"
Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
I think we can all agree that a free trial would bring in more players, but would also upset the delicate balance of world pvp and economy that established. Depending on how long the trial would be.
