Question about this games graphics

GreenLanternFanGreenLanternFan Member Posts: 374

I'm not going to trash the game like some others have as I realize it is in beta. Having said that, I'm really disappointed in the graphics this game has to offer. I have a nice PC that hasn't had any problems running other games in the past (I can run AoC, Lotro, and Aion at max settings without a hiccup).

So, upon logging into this game, I immediately jacked up all the settings (which admittedly wasn't very many) and the game crashed. After getting the game up and running again I logged in to find that although the screen size had increased, the graphics seemed no better than before. They were still a pixelated mess.

Is anyone else having the same issue, or are the graphics that grainy? They seemed to look a lot better in the screenshots.

Thanks in advance.

Most people here have not played Alganon for more than half an hour, you are much better off posting this, including --> SCREENSHOTS, in the official Alganon forums.

    1 + 1 = 2... Unless it CRITS!

What you mean to say is -- "most people have played the game and don't like it, but I am going to jump to the conclusion that they have only played for 30 minutes because I love the game."

That's pretty much what he is saying, ya. Even playing for 30 minutes anybody can answer this question as it pertains to the first 5 minutes of any MMOer (fiddle with graphics to get it where you need/want it). So his comment is just unhelpful.

To answer the OP question, I too had some issues with the settings. Some options didn't seem to do anything, and changing the res to something higher made my client go nuts and never really changed over correctly. After finally getting everything max and stable the graphics indeed did not look anywhere near as good as the screenshots do.

    Photoshop FTL.

Yeh quite alot of people are having problems with the settings in game, but then again the game isnt really that amazing looking so you might already be at maxed graphics. Also for me the screenshots pretty much look like what's in game =3

Thanks for the quick response guys. I too was a bit taken back by the first reply, as adjusting the graphics is something I believe most people do upon logging in to a new game.

Upon first glimpse this game strikes me as a WoW clone or maybe even RoM. As much as I decidedly choose not to listen to others and try things for myself, I'd agree with other posters in that regard. To be completely honest with whomever reads this, for the short time I was playing,
I just couldn't help but wonder why anyone would want to pay $14.99 a month for this game when you can pay the same price for a much more polished game in WoW or pay nothing for a similar game like RoM. While I do understand this game is in beta, that weighs on the decision itself as someone could get the majority of the same entertainment without the hassle of playing a newly released game that will inarguably have to go through a maturing process.

I really do like to see as many MMO companies succeed as much as possible, as I believe it constitutes a win-win situation for we as MMO gamers. However, I'm not sure this game has enough unique and different features to entice players to make the switch from a game that obviously has so many likenesses in WoW.
