After reading his Wiki I saw nothing interesting that makes this guy the "step in the right direction". He maybe a cool guy and all but the way the chinese farmers are hyped with there skills I doubt anyone is good enough to deal with it. If anything this guy could maybe figure a way to make Aion fun even with the bots but that's about all I can see from this.

Sighhhh... then don't reply and just quit the damn game already.
Tired of hearing the whine. As soon as someone posts ANYTHING to contradict the botting - then its "well - that's a dumb suggestion and can't be any steps in any direction because Aion is doomed"...
If you care to read the 10+ pages on the original link I sent you, you can see most people who KNOW him are very excited by this. I can't change your opinion, but I question what you are still doing here (if no other reason than to troll)

I realize you like this game and all, but some people don't like it, or don't like certain things about it.
You obviously never played Lineage2 or CN-Aion either, NCSoft has a terrible reputations for just letting botters/RMTers do whatever they want.

I have already quit Aion but I am still interested in the game. Though, to be honest, one should make a small brief summery on what makes this guy so good instead of throwing a 10+ page report on the guy. I would read something about him but not everything about him.

I could care less about people voicing their opinions... and tell you the truth I could care less if anyone here PLAYS Aion or not quite frankly. Im sick and tired of coming to this forum and ANYTHING that's written in a positive light is instantly shit on by the trolls/haters of the game. If you don't like the game WHY ARE YOU HERE? Would you like me to ask this in some magical way so you get it?
My post had NOTHING to do with Aion gameplay... and more about who they hired and what they are doing to address the bots (something that everyone is very upset about and for good reason)... but you can't even say that here on these boards without being flamed for it... so what's the point of posting anything at all? They should just shut down this section of the forum because any MEANINGFUL conversation is completely useless.
We get some people don't like Aion.. but you don't see me going to the PotBS or Warhammer forums and blasting it every day do you? I HATE Warhammer... biggest pile of letdown I've ever had the displeasure of playing.... but I don't say anything about it because its so beyond childish and a complete waste of time. Maybe that's what Im having trouble grasping.
BTW - reputation only takes you so far... this isn't C-Aion, or L2, L3 or whatever else you guys want to make it out to be.... so if its too much for you, leave, go play whatever game YOU want and leave the rest of us to discuss the game we DO like...
I hope they do something about the bots but dout it very much. Hiring 'A NAME' is more likely to be a PR thing to help calm the angry 'real' subs than it is a way keep the bots from botting.
It is nice that NCSoft has hired someone and it is nice that he has mentioned it but it continues to be troubling that NCSoft seems incapable of directly addressing their customers and talking to them about what they are doing or what they are going to do or what they won't be doing. Silence is the worst thing that any company can do in the face of criticism as it only fuels the rampant criticism and rumour mongering not mention the out and out false statements. Yes, no company can respond to all the complaints indvidually but coming out with a straight forward statement of intent, some general plans and an rough estimate and then keeping people informed as to the progress of those plans makes relations with your customers so much better and after all aren't you in business because of those customers? It is NOT a question of what the customer deserves or what the customer expects but it is totally what the company, any company needs to do and must do to stay in business.
I am a lot more tolerant of Blizzard's botting problem as they have hundreds of servers in Europe and hundreds more in the US and a huge virtual world to manage on each of those servers. I am a lot less tolerant of a company that has less than a hundred Western servers running at the moment with a fairly small world. The Aion bot reporting function certainly must be flooding them with data and a GM logging on to a server should be able to verify the bots in short notice. This means that at least once every other day or so each server should get some GM love and a clean out. Right now, nothing appears to be happening at all and with the silence from NCSoft it is hard to argue with people saying that they won't change and that the bots will continue to run and run.
I am optimistic that this fellow will try and solve the problems but if the corporate culture is so firmly entrenched as to continue to operate in this apparently arrogant manner then he probably is doomed to failure. Good luck and I hope that I am wrong and that things will improve both in the game and with the company communicating to their customers.

Obviously won't happen over night.
I m not a naysayer at all, and no nothing will really be done. If it can which I doubt why wasn t it addressed in the first place. I mean they ve had plenty of time to see how it would be with the realse in Asia. Unless they re just dumb or blind or both, they had to have none it would happen here as well.

You are pretty spot on there.
Hiring someone like Scott is a sign that they acknowledge the problem.
But, the bigger issue is the fact that they dont have that many servers (less than 20 in the US) which could easily have been periodically 'cleaned' on a daily basis if they even bothered to attempt it. Would it have solved the botting issue from the start? Probably not. But it would have shown that they were at least trying to deal with the problem (which is what most people who complain about said issue are really upset about). Its the lack of communication that people were really fed up with, and lets face it, NCsoft has never been and probably will never be the type of company to ever really 'talk' with its players.
And as rwmiller said, Sure no company can answer every single post about issues, but they could at least acknowledge the issues that get the most heat and talk about it with the community, which they never really bother doing.
As to Cammy: This may be an Aion forum, but its on a general MMORPG site. The forums here are for disscussion and debates, which most every user understands and accepts. You will have to learn to take any amount of negative responses when posting something positive, just as the people who post anything negative about the game have to accept any amount of incoming flack from people like you who dont want to hear it. It goes both ways. Kinda like the old saying goes 'Dont dish it out if you cant take it'. Forums are not meant to be all sunshine and roses, there will be debates, rants, whines, etc. If you cant handle it, you should seriously avoid the forums all together.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
I think moreso people are pissed as to why this wasnt prepared for during beta. Anyone who played beta saw the farmers and spammers getting ready, already spamming messages and already most likely working out how they would operate during launch.
Game Guard and the failure that it is was scrapped before launch because it worked as well as using a fruit roll up as a condom, yet nothing was put in its place that NCsoft designed itself.
There was 0 GM support when the game launched, which is just laughable when games like Fallen Earth can launch and be able to appoint GM's who are in chat at all times. The report auto hunting feature was pretty much proven by NCsoft to do nothing at all and they want you to sit there and fill out an entire report on the website each and every time you find a botter. Theres plenty of proof as well that these botters only recieved 1-3 day bans and were back at it, so far no one has seen any perma bans.
The fact is people were right, they called NCsoft out on their inability to handle RMT and botters, and got proven right every day since release. GM support shouldnt be "in the works" months after the game is released, it should be something thats ready to go at launch. The hiring of this guy is nothing more than a PR stunt to help quell the masses from more nerd rage than we have already shown.

Agreed... and honestly Im tired of every single post being nothing but a flame war...
So, effective immediately... this will be my last post. One less fanboi to argue with.... tired of the constant whine and as soon as you post anything positive you get attacked for it.... not a very good topic for MEANINGFUL discussion.
If anyone who PLAYS Aion and wants some advice on things - feel free to PM me

Aye,
The fact that they only had a few servers in this region (under 20) would have made GM support easier to do. Most games have about 2 GMs per server and in some cases 1 GM per server and several Head GMs who will work across all servers. Sure having the GMs doing Bot-ass kicking all day wouldnt really have solved the problem, but it would have been a start and a sign that NCsoft was attempting to squealch the issue.
NCsoft had a year of the Korean launch to learn what the NA launch was going to have to deal with. In that time GMs should have been trained and ready for deployment when the game went live state side. Sadly they didnt and the game was plagued with botters and RMT drones in beta.
I mean if NCsoft was really hurting for help they could have done what many other MMOs have done in the past; Volunteer Player GMs (who would either be compensated with free game time or some other form of compensation). Again, NCsoft didnt bother.
But again, NCWest knew of the issues with botting and RMT before the launch in the US. They had a year of Aion in Korea to learn from. They had enough time to attempt to come up with a strat, train more hands and be ready to take the issue head on at release. The year of Aion in Korea was like looking into a crystal ball and seeing the future. It was there in front of them being played out, they just chose to ignore it.

Amen! These folks that whine and biatch about Aion crack me up honestly. I often wonder what sort of people they are in real life to waste so much of their time downing a game they apparently don't like. Get a life much? lol
Trolls do nothing but entertain me personally. Good times indeed.

Read his blog, human. I hadn't heard of him earlier, but after reading his blog I'm convinced. How much do you need to be spoonfed?
the other night we had a gm in the assassin chat with us banning bots where ever we told him they was. tonight i saw the same gm banning the shop bots that spam thier web sight in the comment box over thier heads in front of the temple of gold and at the fly points. so they're keeping up with them more than i expected.
its the only place (Ok cyberspaceon) this planet you start equal and money/parents/race don't matter the moment they take that away many people will leave
I stopped playing Aion but I am keeping an eye on it. Looks like NC Soft is trying and thats a good sign. Comming from a former Lineage 2 player what really got me upset with the game is that they knew the bots and gold sellers would come so why were they not fully prepared for it at launch?

Highly doubt it will do a thing. This is my opinion of course but the botters will find a way around anything they throw at them.

Out of date but I believe this is the same guy...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Jennings_(game_designer)
Yes it is....
and of course the Naysayers will say "nothing will be done"... but this is REAL evidence NCSoft does care and are doing something about the situation. Everyone knows it needs to be addressed, the sooner it is, the happier their client base will be.

Thread cleaned up. Let's try to keep it on-topic

Sighhhh... then don't reply and just quit the damn game already.
People reply and say that because they're expressing their complaints.
I realize you like this game and all, but some people don't like it, or don't like certain things about it.
You obviously never played Lineage2 or CN-Aion either, NCSoft has a terrible reputations for just letting botters/RMTers do whatever they want.
Its' really not very hard....
[ Mod Edit ]
Amen! These folks that whine and biatch about Aion crack me up honestly. I often wonder what sort of people they are in real life to waste so much of their time downing a game they apparently don't like. Get a life much? lol
Trolls do nothing but entertain me personally. Good times indeed.
"I play Tera for the gameplay"
Sighhhh... then don't reply and just quit the damn game already.

I have already quit Aion but I am still interested in the game. Though, to be honest, one should make a small brief summery on what makes this guy so good instead of throwing a 10+ page report on the guy. I would read something about him but not everything about him.
Same here, I will be checking back every few weeks see whats up and resub hopefully
well said
