looking at all the nda questions/answers and in honesty i am abit concerned for SV to lift the NDA this early.
are anyone else questioning the nda life, or perhaps approve of it?
whats everyone else's input?

Indie-ish developers don't have the massive amounts of money to launch marketing campaigns and build up the hype in artificial ways (cgi trailers, etc) so they have to attract players by.. actually making a good game; and then sharing that game with the public. Large companies can hide all important (or buggy!) aspects of the game till release day and they'll still recoup their costs on a complete garbage game.
The only reason that lifting an NDA so early would be bad is if the game was bad. In which case, there is no hope anyway.
I think it's not THE time to lift NDA.
Game is almost ready to be released. All features listed year ago, which were going to form the core of RC client, are already in.
Some of them just need more improvements.
And that's why lifting NDA now may harm MO the most.
Why I think that ? Because combat isn't good enough.
The worse, close combat is more like a hiccup than a real fight.
Supposing SV will improve it, then whole combat will be a badass.
But until then, mages and archers will be t3h ownzors.

Regarding the melee, I really don't agree with you here. I think it is really fun and very tactical and more realistic than any other MMO have. But there are as always, room for more polish and improvements. But already it's much more fun than what most MMOs have.
Diekfoo: sorry but I unable to fight in close combat.
I commit a hit once per 5-7 hits.
And it's not that I can't aim on a big, pissed of bull, or huge boar.
It's that cc is laggy, and it's not only latency lag. It's a performance lag. Second thing that currently hitboxes are a myth.
If player won't aim at the central point of chest with a huge bit of luck, it's the same as he would be fencing in air.
CC PvE is even worse. A small deer was able to kill me before I hit him 2-3 times. Reason is the same: impossible to hit the head, only torso. Very hard to accomplish, because collision detection works perfectly but I can't reach fkin torso through deer's head, and when it attacks ... that's the end of me.
That's why I think it's too early to lift NDA, because those who will get into PvE close combat, will spread that this game sux, not even mentioning why (as we know, trolls never use arguments) and listing only negative things.

Early? we only have 1month till release, unless they wanted to drop nda when ''open beta'' starts or at release i dont consider it early at all.
i almost think 10 hit boxes is going to be to much
Lifting the NDA so soon is well in line with the honesty the SV devs have shown until now. They don't want to hide anything, they don't pretend their game is the best thing since sliced bread, unlike that "other" company.
Oh, and there WILL be an open beta / free trial everybody will have access to before the game releases. And unlike that "other" game, where it was promised but never happened, here you can trust the devs, if they said that would happen, it will happen, like everything else they promised so far.
Don't believe the disgruntled DFO fanbois. Wait for the free trial, try it yourself. And listen to those who REALLY play this game, not DFO trolls.

I don't know if it's the best time to drop the NDA since i believe that if it was a matter of choice for them they would've gone with keeping the lid on things and maintaining the hype until the game actually releases.
However at this point lifting the NDA is a more , ethically speaking , "honest" decision than acting like an ostrich and bury their heads in the sand trying to simply wish the bad things away by keeping the NDA up after the proverbial shit hit the fan with those video leaks ; as to how is this gonna prove to be a smart decision or not only time will tell..........
Iiii-iiiiiit's.... me!!! *Hooray*
You can have many guesses: 1. They are forced to drop NDA because they have to release the game because they run out of the money. 2: The beta reached the mailstone at which they planned to drop NDA. 3. They are confident that there will not be as buggy as it has been. Anyway the devs know better than anyone else.
Honestly I don't believe the first guess.
Just hold your judgement as if the NDA is lifted too early or how miserable the game is now. The evidence will come soon.
Pretty much. I think those video leaks pushed a lot of folks to abandon thinking about the game entirely.
But that was and is the state of the game that you'd be buying. Now they want the fanboys to do the opposite and spin is backwards, to be positive... ah well. You reap what you sow.
Anyway, there are still at least 2 weeks until open beta arrives.
I cross my fingers to see close combat improvements until then.
Or I'm just going to wait another 3 months until first wave of unsatisfied incomers swim away. Mayb then they will have some more time to improve game mechanics or even bring advanced features, replacing basic ones, whose most of are already implemented in 100%, but still needs bugfixing.

I personally applaud the devs for being honest, but for it being a good decision? Really depends, i mean people that are interested in the game are already aware that their an indie company and can only deliver as much but its more of a people don't wanna buy unfinished products thing thats gonna hurt them. I myself am very eager to play the game but won't be buying it until the first major expansion comes in.
Personally i love SV. The NDA Lift was a Bold move but it was needed to show where it is at now and the changes that happen drastically in the next 2 patchs (Replacing ALOT of place holder systems Trees, Crafting, Melee weapon weight and swinging ark, ect)
The death of this game would be the Death of my hope for the mmorpg Genre.

Then you better get your funeral clothes ready for the wake. If you think one little unknown indie company failing like virtually all the others have is the death of the genre you should give up now.
SV is ages away from being able to ship a usable product that will generate sufficient sales to stay afloat. Henrick's daddies money can only last so long and they still have been criminally negligent in failing to offer refunds in direct violation of CC merchant agreements and consumer protection laws. A company like that won't be around long.
As much as I can't stand Lord Tacos and his lying bunch of sycophantic shillbots, at least they were only unethical in their business dealings. SV on the other hand.......

Thread reminds me of the farm.
You guys are judging a game that is still in beta and still has some major patches to be release. My suggestion to anyone who is interested in buying this game after launch, don't decide by the leaked videos or people who are saying the game is crap. These next patches will change a lot and a lot of trolls can't handle that it might actually be better than DFO. SV is a solid company and they have been honest and more hard working than any other indie company that i know of.
So just wait and see what happens.
The NDA should have been lifted as soon as they asked for money. Its hard to believe that so many people will buy a game without seeing it in action.
TBH, I probably would have lifted the NDA just after the final feature patch or a couple of weeks prior to open beta.
So you haven't even tried the game?
If it needs some 'major patches' still, it's not a beta.
It's an alpha.
I have played many many MMO betas. It's very often with large patches during betas.
