One of the most impressive "graphic features" of MO, something that strikes you almost as soon as you log into the game, and something I didn't see that impressive since Asheron's Call 1, is the view distance. That makes for an immersion level no recent game has managed to achieve, and certainly not darkfail and it's lame very close "war fog". You also don't see the sky and the moon through water, through the fog, through the floor, like on that other amateurishly designed engine.
You think the screenshots look nice? It looks 10x nicer when you are in the game and everything moves

Looks great indeed, and I can think of one that matches it. however, I wont derail the thread. The visuals are good in mortal online.

There were indeed a few games that had a quite long view distance, like e.g. Age of Conan. Problem is in those games, what you see in the distance is mere decoration, and you will never be able to get to it. In MO, if you see it, you can get to it, or very close, it really exists, it's not just fluff added to look good. Just like in Asheron's Call. That's what makes one of the differences between a "world" and a " theme park".

Yeah it does have a nice draw distance and there is one game as well that I know of if you can see it you can get to it. Save for when you get killed by radiation but the world has to end somewhere right? This game looks really good but im not sure if I could handle FPV all the time.
Yea I think the graphics are pretty good, I just hate the invisible wall half way in the river from the 2nd pic Overall they are very nice and detailed.
The invisible walls aren't meant to be there forever, they are just there to avoid people going into unfinished areas that may crash their client and make them unable to log back in. If missing objects/textures put your client in a crash loop, you'd have to reroll your char, that's the only reason why those walls are there in beta for now.

the graphics are good but the combat system is crap from what i've seen
cause it skinda basic atm skilsl and stuff are next patch for combat. but its beta im sure there working on it
ATM they just implemented there primary/secondary skill system which in the future is supposed to be like a thousand + different skills. The combat system imho is the best i've ever seen in an MMO. It's soooo refreshing to see this type of combat in an MMO, instead of cooldowns or left click spam. You actually need skill in this system to play well and the reason it seems slow is the fact that they are going for realism. If you are wielding a huge 2 handed sword, are you actually going to be able to swing it over and over really fast....no. If you have a one handed weapon you can hit someone twice as much than if you had a two hander but 2 handers do more damage. Now, will they speed up the combat a littel in the future who knows, maybe.
In regards to releasing in Dec., not sure if they actually should relsease it that early. I honestly think they should wait a few more months and refine things instead of releasing the game buggy and unblanced. Either way, the game is a nice change of pace and design and hopefully it will be great in due time.
Pretty graphics and huge draw distance CANNOT disguise an MMO with poor gameplay. If you're looking for 'fun' (a word xbox-generation gamers have difficulty grasping) then I'd personally choose "Darkfail".

the point is that DarkFall is starting to be 'good' NOW, after a year of release, if MO takes the same amount of time it can still be 'better' cattering both pvp&pve vicious audience.

My favorite is seeing them talk about how bad MO is, then suggest AV do the same things SV is to make DF better.

It depend what you understand under good game play. For me it is Ultima Online, so I left Darkfall after 4 months because of its dull PvP gameplay. For comparison WoW with his terrible game play have keep my interest for the same time.
And last MO is aiming at real sandbox game play instead of just PvP the same way it was in UO and it is in EvE. This two games are main inspiration of SV developement till Darkfall main inspiration is Shadowbane.

Yeah... enthusiastic and shameless self-contradiction is one of many "tactics" rabid DF fans use when "debating" on their forums. It was funny, if predictable, for a while. Then it became just plain sad to witness.
That said, MO's looking good. I can definitely see Epic rebuilding the engine from the ground up to support large streaming worlds being put to good use in some of the videos. The world design seems decent... From what I've seen, it seems the graphics engine carries this game's look for the most part. But then I haven't seen much of it, so I could be wrong there.
Curious to see how it pans out. For right now, I'll be watching this one to see how it pans out after launch.

DF is not a sandbox. All it offers to a player is PvP. It's either that, whacking a node, or very dull and uninspiring crafting. Personally I was very disappointed as I had been following the game for a couple of years prior to launch
Great vid. You really get a sense of movement and speed riding that horse. i've always said I would not play an mmo with first person, but I can definitely see how it feels more immersive. I'm gonna need some dramamine for atleast the first month of play though until I get used to it. It's been a long time since I played first person shooters and I was feeling motion sick half way through. I'm sure it will pass though as I get used to the game.
This made me lol. The bitterness and terror that MO puts into Darkfall fanbois is beautiful.

Actually some of us "fanbois" are looking forward to this game as well.
The more of these small Indie type games that make it the better.

I despise DF and it's joke of a community. But he has a point.
All I have seen so far are pretty environment screens that give me an insta DeJaVu with Vanguard: Saga of Heroes back then.
It's all empty, lifeless. No content, no mobs, no creatures, nothing, nada.

Hopefully the gameplay can match the scenery. if they can pull that off then the game will be a gem indeed.
