Meh. To some extent, OP is right. I mean, how far off is this vision? It is obviously a smart marketing ploy to hype up your next expansion or game plans, as impressive as they look. Especially if Aion is bleeding subs (in the west) and I don't think that is far off the mark to state.
Yet the wording of it as a "vision" gives the impression of some distant aspiration not necessarily based in fact.
Now whilst I say this, I was genuinely impressed with the trailer. To me, its what Aion should be from the start, a feature rich MMO I could see myself recommending to my friends.
Will I re-sub in anticipation? No. Should anyone continue to sub just from what we've seen in this vision? No. "Aion now" is still a stinky derivative MMO with a glossy coat of paint.
I see no difference with what Blizzard did with the cataclysm announcement. It serves two purposes, notify people about the upcoming game improvements and encourage people to keep on playing.
Ever stop to think NCSoft released it early cause one of their markets had an upcoming holiday?
The trailer was supposed to be released at some big korean game thing going on over there. It was smart of them to release it early cause of the thanksgiving holiday here in the US.

The difference is, that Blizzard is actually going to deliver all that they showed in their Cataclysm trailer with their upcoming expansion.
While with the AION trailer. That one is so far off. Anyone with a brain can clearly see that NCSoft will not be able to pull this off anytime soon.

Yep,
They promised on removing gameguard and they didn't, they promised on doing something on bots/spammers and they didn't, they promised on increase boss drops and quests exp and they didn't, they promised on fixing server queues and they didn't...
Yeah no. If that was the case there would have actually been some news to go along with it about the time line and what it all actually means, rather than dumping a pretty trailer on us at the tail end of Q4 and then remaining silent. I'm betting we here nothing official on this until after Q4 is wrapped up as they expect people to become less enthusiastic when they hear the details.
That video is backed with a features list in the Korean Aion section. Some people bothered to do a translation, which you apparently missed. Not that it's your job to fish player made translations of a list that should be also localised for the west as well.

I just read about the cataclysm features and the only things which seem noteworthy to me are the redesign of the old lands and that flying mounts are available in azeroth.Thats 2 things which needs a lot of ressources to implement.
The rest is the usual levelcap increase, some new instances/content, 2 playable races and so on... I would be really dissapointed if Blizzard cant deliver that. (Can Horde and Alliance play now all classes?)

Nice way twisting it off topic.
I was responding to the Cataclysm trailer and the trailer NC released.
The Cataclysm trailer is a true expansion trailer showing what's coming with the upcoming expansion.
The NC trailer is just a wet dream from some Korean Devs as how they would like Aion to be one day and put all that in a fancy trailer.
That's the BIG difference I was pointing at.
Seeing the current situation with Aion and it's issues. Then you really need to let your head examined if you think all that stuff they showed in the trailer is going to be in the upcoming expansion or even the one after that (unless the second expansion is like 3 years of. At least).
If the game even survives that long. At least here in the West.

The game has been for almost a year in korea plenty of time for some new patches or expansion whatever it will be into this one. (They added some dungeons in a patch so it's nothing new for ncsoft if added this way)

Dude,
The current game engine, eventho heavily modified, is the CryEngine 1. You know how old that engine is?
Heck. Ever wondered why they removed the highres ground textures from the game during early stages of Closed Beta?
They either need to shift and upgrade to Cry Engine 2 or a completely different one. Or put incredible amount of resources and thus money into completely rewriting the current engine they are using. As CryEngine 1 doesn't support DX10 in any way!
In either way. This is not something they are going to be pulling off in just a year or two. Have fun in Neverland and dream on!
People are now already crashing and lagging like hell during Sieges. What you think is going to happen if they just put in an even more demanding graphics update on this current engine?
People need to be more realistic.
This trailer was released on a very convenient moment for NCSoft and is nothing more then a Marketing ploy to sucker in more players into buying the game and increase their box sales even further.

Never said this "vision" will appear tomorrow but don't tell me they are some cheap assed company, they are trying their best to make the game more satisfying. (Although I would prefer if they would hire someone to do them some anti bot/spam program)
But anyways I'm no longer playing aion because I don't like pvp focused mmorpgs so i'm no fanboy or whatever but I know the game is not some cheap assed game like say alganon, at least aion is trying to add good stuff here and there not 95% copy rest "innovative/new".
As for the terrain they made something I didn't like they made it the bigger your screen the more strected the texture will be. Meaning if you played with a smaller screen this would be less noticable, there's also a way on aion source to make the textures look like normal but like you said they still need to improve the pvp stability.
Increasing the graphics will always affect fps and whatnot but you have a choice to not make it all maxed even if it looks less cooler.
To end this the trailer was all gameplay so in my opinion these are from some test server they are trying them on meaning they are either finished or near to finish them and probably adding more stuff specially the underwater zone should be huge but that's my opinion not everyone's.
Ever stop to think NCSoft released it early cause one of their markets had an upcoming holiday?
The trailer was supposed to be released at some big korean game thing going on over there. It was smart of them to release it early cause of the thanksgiving holiday here in the US.
Might be, but I tend to think it has more to do with Korea having GStar, the biggest gaming convention over there.
I'm rather surprised there wasn't really any Abyss Video.
It seems like they're focusing more on adding PvE content. I'm pretty sure the giant rock guy at the end is a siege golum of sorts (like Lineage IIs), because it appears as though he was summoned... but they weren't in the abyss... So maybe there will be rift sieges?
I personally feel that the abyss is too small. It's good for making sure you run into the other faction, but I think an additional level is called for. There should also be a reward / penalty system for hunting outside of your abyss tier. Like if you hunt and kill above your tier you get a point bonus, and if you kill below your tier you get a major point reduction.
LineageII | LoTRO | RFO | 9Dragons | Aion | Perfect World | Ether Saga | Dungeon Runners | GuildWars 1 and 2 | Hellgate London | tCoS | Warhammer | AoC | Tabula Rasa | SWTOR youtube.com/gcidogmeat

Yup it kinda looks that way. They were sieging Pandaemonium and the defenders have acces to canon to defend.
It seems like they're focusing more on adding PvE content.
sorry but PVE content is what keeps players, PVP is usually just merely distraction. sorry PVPers but its true thats why most PVP oriented games FAIL. they cant keep the players if it doesn't have a strong PVE component.
Never said this "vision" will appear tomorrow but don't tell me they are some cheap assed company, they are trying their best to make the game more satisfying. (Although I would prefer if they would hire someone to do them some anti bot/spam program)
I am sorry to crush your dream about NCSoft being a rolemodel company. They aren't.
Just like an Asian version of EA and they only care about profit and find all kinds of sleazy ways to make even more. Even by releasing a fancy trailer showing people awesome stuff that might never end up in the game anyway. But heck. if it lures in more suckers in buying their game. Woopie ti Doo. They do.
They don't care about making their games more satisifying, unless it costs minimum effort and resources. They never did with their Lineage games. They never did with CoX (hasn't seen an expansion in years and the announced going rogue expansion went mysterious ways as no information has been released for months). And they ruthlessly axed Tabula Rasa without remorse, while that game still had plenty of potential and quite a number of people playing.

Actually NCsoft has always added a ton of new content to their games. Lineage 2 has grown enormously over the years and while CoX didn't had an expansion, it did get a lot of updates.
on top of that, games developed by NCsoft korea don't charge for expansions.
Why would it show stuff that might never end up in the game? It's obvious none of it is CGI so they are clearly already working on it. Swimming, Player housing, dynamic world changes, these have all been mentioned pre - release so it's clear they have been working on it for the long.
Also NCsoft never charged any money for content updates for their games, even though the amount of added content rivals, if not exceeds that of games that have paid expansions. Right now they are working on many new features and a complete graphical overhaul. They seem to be quite hard at work for a company that don't care about making their games satisfying.

nice to see you took the time to make this post and "warn" us.
Apparently there is reason to stay hooked up, if even your kind is already running around like headless turkeys "warning" people.
Just LOL
PS: Notice how this guy created his account in August and all his posts were against AIon?
Im suspecting hes someone I know from this forum, a very well known person =P but im not letting names out =DDD
cool story bro

They already can. You can also pay to switch sides on the same server (ie convert an alliance character to horde and vice versa).

Yeah, because a video like this showing upcoming features can be made in a few days, right.
Might as well consider any upcoming features announced from any game a "warning" to prevent user exodus.
