fps deathmatch style mmog?

frumbertfrumbert Member Posts: 190

I'd like to play a game that:

  • Featured deathmatch style gameplay
  • Had a large open style (non zone/portal based) world
  • Allowed me to pick up all weapons without learning skills
  • Had a respawn timer based death system
  • Had a "cred" system, so if a "match" was won the team members credibility went up, and when players died their credibility went down
  • Had lots of "run around open pvp" style gameplay across different landscape types, such as hills, forrests, cluttered abandoned mines, and so on
  • Had tens of thousands of players connected at the same time
  • Had an area based voip, so I could only talk to people (through a headset) who were actually around me in game space

I realise there are MOG's - multiplayer online games, but I haven't found ones that add "massively" in the deathmatch/pvp/fps arena that aren't just sandbox rooms. Any one know of open world style games like I wish for?

Forum signatures are stupid and annoying. I've turned mine off.

Darkfall is closest to what it seems you are looking for.

It seems that there are people going around the forums today saying "Darkfall this", "Darkfall that". Seriously, it has been mentioned in every single thread about every single topic I've read today.

Actually I'm not considering Darkfall because of the term "class tree". NO no. nO. No. It's NOT AT ALL what I'm looking for.

A fps deathmatch game lets you get in and play and you can do everything right off the bat. You make more dangerous weapons more dangerous to grab hold of, and from that comes intense gameplay. On a MMOG world you would spread cool weapons across the terrain so that styles of fight-play vary as you move across the game world.

Also, I'm yet to play a decent deathmatch game with swords.

Oh, in that case, I'm pretty sure your game doesn't exsist. Thanks for being a whiney little brat though.

I looked at darkfall some time back. It wasn't what I was expecting. Yes, it's got some elements, but not it's not what I'm looking for. Maybe the game DOES exist, if we consider the far fetched possibility that you don't know everything there is to know.

Forget Darkfall. I'd look into Planetside and World War II Online before I'd look into Darkfall for an FPS style MMOG.

Actually it does exist, but you just want to be a Darkfall troll.

    It's called Planetside.

     Planetside or WWII Online.

Both those games are pretty ugly dated though...  Your next best bet is Global Agenda, its still in development but looks really sharp and I hear its alot of fun.  The only downside (per your requirements) is that it uses instanced zones(w/ limited player numbers) and a conquest type boardmap instead of an open world... oh and I think you have to develop your character to use specific weapons/armor... I know it uses a class type system.

Ah. I did indeed forget about Planetside, but you can check my post history, I'm not exactly a darkfall fan. I'm assuming you only called me a troll for taking offense with what he wrote and then getting snippetty back.
