What has changed?

So I've been watching some videos and reading a bit about this game recently, and I noticed its looking/sounding a lot better than it did when I first tried it at release.  So I'll list a couple things that I found irritating about it, and ask if anything has really changed.

-PvPing naked was actually mildly effective; do people actually use decent armor yet?  when I played everyone ran around naked or in the crappiest stuff you could find.. and using zerg tactics it was very successful.  It was really lame.

-there wasn't  much to the game, it was just a big battle royal PvP fest.  It PvE "sandbox" elements where really lacking.  ie crafting, player driven economy

-I didn't mind the actually mechanics of looting players (ie dropping and dragging things)... but I absolutely hated the merchant interfaces that made you do the same thing

-soloing was pretty much non-existant.  The only thing I could kill was goblins, and even those little bastards would team up on you pretty good.  Don't get me wrong, I like playing the team game... but every now and then I want to do my own thing... and it was a struggle when I last tried

-leveling skills by using them out of combat scenarios... ie shooting a magic missle into the sky to gain skill instead of being forced to use it in combat to gain skills.  Macroing skills up like this was incredibly stupid

-the UI was really clunky... or it felt that way, maybe I just never got used to it.

I loved the concept of the game, but overall it just seemed to deteriorate into a really large version of Quake: Swords and Sorcerers edition.  It didn't really feel like a sandbox RPG w/ a PvP focus.  Has this changed?

I 100% agree. I mean...why wear armor when you can just swing your sword for a week and kill someone who has armor but has only swung a sword for a day? the big patch is very almost out but the UI and the combat needs major fixing, in my opinion and mine only...so you Darkfall cultists....drink some kool-aid if you're going to contradict what -I- think. Yes I will go back to it, eventually, in due time but now? nope....and I am being constructive too. It is the one MMO, I think, that needs a free trial.

You can't kill a geared naked with a starter weapon anymore, unless they just stand there

-PvP Naked is definitively not as effective as it used to be. Heck, I deal 40 damages on a naked guy vs. 13 on a guy wearing an armor...

-PvE has greatly improved with the July expansion  (or was it June.....) as for Player Driven economy, a more stable version should appear in Conquer The Sea Expansion

    -Looting has not changed.

-If you want to Solo in DarkFall, you pretty much joined the game with the wrong mind-set. Though so far I can kill goblins, kobolds, undeads, centaurs, trolls, sadayels, and a few more by myself but I often get ganked by players.

-Leveling skills cannot be done out of combat scenarios anymore. Offensive, Debuff, Support skills or spells must HIT their target to gain rank. Even Self Heal will not receive XP unless you actually heal some HP...same goes for Rest.

-I have no problems with the UI and Conquer The Sea will improve the UI a bit too.

if that is the case then the whole meaning of the game is contradicted. i mean....willow defeated the sorceress and Rocky Balboa and Rombo have killed billions...you should be able to kill someone with armor if you skill up a weapon in the beginning. I know starter weapons dont gain but you can get a dirt cheap weapon at the beginning. I'm only saying if that's not the case then it, completely, contradicts what the game is about.

You can solo much more, and the expansion will make it even easier (better AI but less HP/mob)

Player vendors, trade channel and much more have been/are added since then for economy

PVPing naked cant kill crap, and not worth it unless someones afk I guess

Skill changes - you get 3x the skillgain when hitting mobs with archery melee and 6x with magic, so no one is macroing anymore (casting into the air) since you can just go out hunting and make 6 times the xp while getting money and items at the same time

UI changes - a couple like not needing to disarm to open loot graves, and further improvements in conquer the sears expansion as said by tasos in the Conquer the seas expansion interview

The naked will loose the fight.  If 10 players run into 2 they shouldn't win ? However there are some PvP videos show skilled players raid enemy holdings solo and fight succesfully vs  multiple opponents.
-there wasn't  much to the game, it was just a big battle royal PvP fest.  It PvE "sandbox" elements where really lacking.  ie crafting, player driven economy
There is a whole politics meta game around many clan activities, collecting materials, PvE,  economy serves clan  purposes   and makes first sense if you look from the clan perspective onto it.  Expansion added some fluff for solo players and the next one will add more content for the solo'er.
-I didn't mind the actually mechanics of looting players (ie dropping and dragging things)... but I absolutely hated the merchant interfaces that made you do the same thing
put in bag and sell to merchant.

That is one of the things that changed a lot. Killing mobs got easier and profitable and because of higher skill gains gives you incentives.
-leveling skills by using them out of combat scenarios... ie shooting a magic missle into the sky to gain skill instead of being forced to use it in combat to gain skills.  Macroing skills up like this was incredibly stupid
Shoot up the air was removed very early, it was like 1-2 months into the game, Also you rather will find players actively hunt to raise skills cause of higher PvE skill gains then macroing with other players.

Sounds good, I'll have to give it another shot.  I'll just start from scratch, I think I have to re-buy the game for the US version or something?  Originally I was on the EU server.  I think I remember hearing a big stink about that a few months ago.  Oh well, I wasn't but a few weeks along anyway.

log into your master account and you should still be able to switch servers for free *I think.* I did it a few weeks ago.

The offer of free transfer is limited to 4th (or 5th Dec) so if you want  to move to NA a quick decision and action is needed. Will be available after that but then it will cost something.
