There are a few more games with some unique features you can try, they all offer free trials, no money unless you want to sub after the trial.
City of heroes/villains are superhero games. Very fun right from start, with an absorbing process of character customisation. You can make very interest looking character for your hero. Or villain. Combat is fast paced and the "loot" options very unique. The skill tree is small but every skill you learn will scale up as you level, your nuke in level 1 is as effective when you levelled to 50.
Lord of the Rings Online has a marvellous storyline, and epic storybooks that basically tells a long story. Gameplay changes after level 45+ which I feel less enthusiastic, but the early hours you will go through in trial will be fun and warm, especially if you love the lore.
Try them out if you have time, and feel interested.
Sure, if you enjoy pvping them, it would be a plus, but for days where you are not in the mood to, you might as well log out.
That's when you do some crafting, exploring, chat with some friends, go kill some NPCs in a quiet spot. Or god forbid you go and do something else besides playing video games when you're not in the mood. These games may involve investing lots of time, that doesn't mean they have the responsibility to keep the freaks entertained 24/7.
But you really do not need to just "log out" in frustration, just because things are getting ruff. I'm really starting to wonder how much time you actually put into Darkfall. My in game experience aint matchin up with what you're a spoutin' mista.
Your ingame experience does not agrees with my views. That means I am lying? Or that I do not know what I am talking? Is that your line of argument.
Your ingame experience is a view, your view. It is not a FACT. There are others who does not agree with you and can on equal ground dispute your views. They do not query your hours ingame or views, as they respect individual views as distinct and personal.
You are telling the OP to sub to a pvp game and go play crafting exploring or chatting with friends or try to find a quiet spot to avoid the griefers and kill NPCs. That is an option. My other advice supplementary to your proposal is to try a more pve friendly game which allows him more varied crafting, and griefer free pve experience. That is the basis of my "might as well log out" meaning log onto another game. Your view, my view. You do not need to question my time in which game. I am here giving my views as much as you are. On same footing.
Why do you say that? because I shortened a poster's name (Huntard?)

You on the other hand have a reputation for trashing Darkfall since your signup date. How much did you play dude, besides being a forum warrior.

I just have a question for you Einstein. I'm not flaming you, but I've been looking through quite a bit of Darkfall stuff trying to decide about the game.
Do you honestly think you're helping Darkfall? If you like the game so much and want people to come to it, you might want to quit posting. Every thread I have seen that mentions Darkfall anywhere in it, I see your immature fanboism plauging virtually everyone of it's pages.
Seriously man, if you like the game quit posting. Because you're hurting the view of it more than anyone else on this entire site and this is a pretty important site in the MMORPG world believe it or not. You talk about Tacos or Tasoc or w/e that Darkfall dev is like he's your gay lover, but I wonder how he would feel to know you're talking money out of his hands by spreading your immature filth here and god knows how many other forums you're on. I know it's not much, but if by some chance he sees this post I'm making right here, I sure hope he's glad to know that you've cost him $50 plus subs at least from me. It's not much, but I know I'm not alone.
I chose this post to reply to out of all the troll filled ones you've made, for a reason. It's part of a reply talking about how bad the community is over at Darkfall. Well, if you're ANY slight indication of what the community is like, then he's absolutely right. The sad part is? There are at least 6 or 7 people who frequent the forums on this site that are just as bad as you, but they just don't post as much as you.
If you love your game. Please stop hurting it.
I swear to god, that one of your recent posts over in the DF forums here made me think of this picture and I haven't seen it in years.

I never told the OP to sub to Darkfall either. But I may peep my head into a thread once in awhile, when people are not being sincere about a game I happen to play.

Ya I can support someone who stood up against a freak storm on this site, and was trying to let people know that a good game could be found in Darkfall. Especially after having played for a couple months and now know that he was right.
I like when people slap back sometimes, it's entertaining. The jokes and BS'n are half the reason I'm here. There isn't exactly a lot of deep intense discussion to be found around here. I've run into a few, but vere rarely. I have a couple of other forums I can visit when I'm looking for that

I have no issues with people offering different views or reputing my ideas. That is why I come here to read and talk. I do not mind if someone showed me information that changes my view, I do not feel offended, much less lose my job or salary. I am thick-skin enough to ignore that self styled Einstein's baby talks. I have seen far more delicate / ruthless clients at work, trying to bargain or shape my view over million dollar contracts. A few labels is just baby tool in such bargaining process.
I find it not rewarding as some people spin and labels people with insulting trems (tard), or trying to dismiss views without any counter argument or new information. Querrying how many hours of ingame, or just calling them carebear does not in anyway shows us why a view is being disputed. It just adds smoke and hostility for nothing.
Lines like "go back to WoW" "too hardcore for carebears" means nothing. You do not want to dish back for the sake of forum rage. Readers will sort out which information is useful in helping them formulate their own opinion. Forum rage will only reaffrm the already negative view about part of the DF community. That is exactly the warning offered by TheHatter. You think you win an argument here? Not really. You might have lose goodwill of some gamers on the fence, that would be a royal loss to DF, which is struggling to gain enough players to play out like DAoC once was. Tackless self made smart ass remarks from whoever pretending to be Einstein did exactly that, making DF community looks far worse that it needs to be.
community in a game is important, and if the examples here of DF are at all prevalent, it doesnt look good. though the pricing model was the biggest red light for me, the rest just added reasons to avoid. my advice to the OP would be either EQ or WOW, anything but DF! but i have to say to the others, thanks for saving me some money
WOW - Same thing the lower level BG's are full of level 10-19 twinked out rogues. Not being a twink you'll be one shot everytime. So again I'd recommend buying gold online to gear yourself up.
This made me laugh. Gold is insanely easy to get in WoW. If you start at level one and just mine ore and pick flowers, you could easily have 1000g by the time you are 20. More than enough to "twink" yourself out just fine. Some people are so lazy, I swear.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

Last time I properly twinked out a char, it cost several thousand. Mostly because the old enchants needed for twinks are hard to find now, they are all old world faction based stuff that nobody does anymore. Not to mention, the twink items in the AH that have like a 0.0001% world drop rate aren't cheap and a lvl 19 twink is pretty much nothing but world drop items.29s are the same, when you start getting into the 39s and up, then most of your stuff starts coming from certain dungeons.
I'm not arguing. I'm just sayin. Again, this is a proper twink with the best possible items and enchants in the entire game, for that level. Something you really don't see anymore. Especially since you get XP in BGs now and if you turn it off you play with other people who turn it off. Twinks quit being a huge problem, when they turned off the insane shoulder and leg enchants for under 70.
If you like pvp... EQ2 - if you start on a pvp server I'd recommend buying gold online because you'll be gimped out in craptacular gear and novice spells (you have to buy better versions of your spells from novice up to master II) and you'll be getting ganked by twinks in all fabled gear. WOW - Same thing the lower level BG's are full of level 10-19 twinked out rogues. Not being a twink you'll be one shot everytime. So again I'd recommend buying gold online to gear yourself up.
Even if it was legal which its not why would anyone recommend buying gold? It's a sure way to get your account hacked/banned since buying/selling gold is illegal.I admit for players who don't have a ton of time to do dailies(i did play pre-bc alot but now only get less then 10 hours a week if not 5hours or less depending on work). I guess some people are just lazy and have so much money(whether its their money or their parent's) that buying gold is okay to them.
I really love the game Darkfall the idea of freely harvesting noob miners with my uber PvP skills while calling the 'Tards' or 'Homo's' really appeals to my mature attatude i think i will really fit in in Darkfall.
Sarcasm off
Seriously tho i have to thank Einstein-DF for showing me what the average 'reasonable' Darkfall player is like
Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981
I prefer EQ2 to WoW. Darkfall sounds good in theory but I didn't get around to playing it or ever will since the company sucks. DF seiges sound fun though. So, EQ2 would be my pick out of the 3. VG was too big of a world for my liking.

The original idea of darkfall is quite interesting. Unfortunately, what gets delivered is disaster-prone, and is destined to be invested by the worst kind of community. Chest beating griefers, hackers and every kind of cyber gamers I want to stay miles off. The issue is not concept, the issue is actual design and delivery.
PvP in a meaningful way, is far more interesting that PvEing against a static boss working on a script. The biggest badest boss of WoW is bad b/c he has 7billion xp while I only have 20k hp. So long as I can survive his alpha strikes and deliver the necessary dps, he is dead. So long as we understand the script and know what to do to counter the big hits, all we need is to get used to the dance of that fight, and some luck. True PvP gives us endless surprise, and group dynamics no PvE can compare.
But the art of implementing a PvP game with meaning and purpose, and restrictions on the behaviour of the gamers to weed out griefers, is not easy. So far, the only game that really satisfies me is DAoC. I am still waiting for the next game that gives me such wonderful memories. WoW, EQ2, they are just placeholders as I wait for the next one. DF? Not yet, not for quite a long way to go.
Darkfall after the expansion, easily. Darkfall has been on the up for the past several months and shows no signs of stopping. If the world just isn't for you, EverQuest. Um... why does the "company" suck? Releasing a second MASSIVE free expansion, with a team of barely 40 people, yet companies like Blizzard with hundreds of devs can barely manage to get out of the stone age of MMO design?

Wrong, I bought gold in EQ2 & WOW numerous times and from different companies. Never got banned. Only way to get hacked is by giving out your personal information.

The above highlighted statement is COMPLETELY inaccurate. A large number of people that get their accounts hacked, never "gave out" their personal information. A lot....a WHOLE lot....of them got "infected" with a keylogger. Keyloggers can come from emails, gold buying sites (yes, just visiting them), etc. If you don't stay on top of anti-virus and spyware/malware scanning....you're a good candidate for a keylogger or trojan. Most anti-virus or spyware software will also alert you if a web site tries to "install" anything without your consent, which....can happen.
Also...if you want to "buy gold," and play EQ2, you can always play on their servers that are FOR that. They have servers that are set up for people that want to buy things with real world money, without breaking the rules....for those specific servers. Sony will sell you the gold, and it's LEGAL (meaning not against the terms of service). WoW has no such system....so far. So if you "buy gold" for WoW....that's against Blizzard's terms of service.
Stay away from Darkfall, horrible community. EQ2 is much friendlier and much more mature. WoW will depend on which server and guild you end up with otherwise WoW can be just as bad as Darkfall.
Thank you 'Tard for your insightful 2 cents
In my personal EXPERIENCE darkfall has a very strong community if in the human/mirdain/dwarf alliance, so so with the ork/mahirim and bad with the alfar.
This is a pvp game so its not like they are mean to you, they are playing the game as its ment to be played.
In terms of clans the clan NEW on server US1 will hook up new players with a city, armor, food potions and advice + protection for 30 days so you can learn the ropes. It is totally community driven guild and that speaks for DF and its playerbase who seek to embrace newbies and teach them the ways of the game
This is exactly the kind of "nice" community you expect from Darkfall. These guys will use any insults and humiliating words just to shut down opposing views. You can imagine how nice they will be as a person.
Why do you say that? because I shortened a poster's name (Huntard?)
Then I should perhaps feel offended when anyone does not include the "-" in my name. Is it against the rules to shorten someone's name, well lets bring out the TOS guys
What I gave the OP was my Personal Experiences of the game directly from the source.
You on the other hand have a reputation for trashing Darkfall since your signup date. How much did you play dude, besides being a forum warrior.
Lisa?
I am writing my own ideas, and putting up pretty much commonly agreed views about the 3 games. You need not agree with me. But, stop pretending you are sincere and respectable in your attempt to spin and humiliate people.
What? shorten the name to tard, and that is to you an innocent act. You call me trashing darkfall, even though I am only talking about pretty factual thing:
(1) pvp centric
(2) small player base
(3) technical issues being resolved, like flying boat hack
(4) only 1 character
(5) only 2 servers, and you need to pay twice to have 1 character on each
(6) no free trial
That pretty much confirms my comment on you, that you resort to any means to stop people from telling the other side of the coin.
So back to the OP. You expect you will run into people like him above in DF, same for any game. In WoW or EQ2, you can ignore such people. You can type in /ignore Thissomeonewhocallspeopletardandpretenditisok. In WoW or EQ2, you can zone in an instance and play without them ever in your presence. In DF you cannot ignore them. They can grief you forever, endlessly, insult you, mock you, and you cannot escape them. You have to deal with them even if you are not in the mood to. Sure, if you enjoy pvping them, it would be a plus, but for days where you are not in the mood to, you might as well log out.
I would surely be interested in knowing exactly WHAT of the things you listed....these DF lovers can argue with.....
You've listed enough there to ensure that I certainly will not be looking at Darkfall. But then, I'm not shopping for a game right now. However, if I was....a game with that list of "issues," and personalities like the ones that seem to post here on MMORPG....would be MORE THAN ENOUGH to turn me away from Darkfall, that's for sure.

did you just try to compare the expansion of Darkfall to one of the expansions to WoW?
Ofcourse WoW releases paid expansions less frequently, these expansions are of significantly higher quality than Darkfalls are. Heck the quality difference is so big, they can't even be compared.

I never told the OP to sub to Darkfall either. But I may peep my head into a thread once in awhile, when people are not being sincere about a game I happen to play.

His posts and sense of humour in time when these boards were even worse, are one of the reasons I actually started to show some interest in the game.
That makes sense, because out of those 6 or 7 people I mentioned.... You're the one standing directly behind him.

This is the internet, grow a thicker skin man cause it's nasty out there. This site is nothing in comparison to other forums I frequent. TBH I'm glad someone dishes it back out to some of the nutjobs with such a horrible hate-on for the game.

EQ2 now has a more crappy community than WoW's.
They used to restrict chat channels to a level ranger like 1 to 9. Now everyone can join 1 to 9 and it's a cesspool.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

I have played Darkfall for a week or so now and I would vote give it a try.
The game runs great with nice graphics and being a sandbox there is always soemthing to do if you tire of slaughtering the heathen.
