I've been thinking about trying Wurm for some time now, but it wasn't until just this past week that I decided to give it a go...Been playin now for a few days now, and even though I was a bit lost at first, that quickly faded and I began having REAL FUN!...
I think in Wurm, it is best that a player has a goal in mind...there is really so much to do that if you dont figure out what you wanna do, your really gonna get yourself stuck...this game does not hold you buy the had AT ALL...i think that is what I like most...
I decided I want to make a house for myself...maybe even a small farm...well...I'm gonna have to make my house from scratch...Currently I am standing in front of a forge somebody made inside of a cave that has actually become an Iron Mine since somebody came across a vein of Iron Ore...I am waiting for my Iron Ore to melt into a glowing lump of iron, while making sure the fire does not go out...
This game is pretty difficult at times...You have to do everything from cut trees down, then cut them to logs, then cut them to planks, make a mallet, then mine for Iron Ore, melt it down to a lump of iron, hammer the lump of iron to an anvil, get more iron, make nails, make a hammer.........it's insane...and insanely fun and addicting...the population is not big, which actually adds to the whole aspect of the players really having to fend for themselves, though there are player made towns and such...
this is like the definition of freedom...so far it is really turning into a great experience...anybody who wants a game where players actually have an affect on the game world should really try Wurm...i mean shit...players ARE the game world...
