Gaming/Image Quality LCD Monitors

I'm getting ready to buy my next gaming rig and of all the research I've done finding a good if not awesome monitor has been the hardest. A few selections I've narrowed it down to:

Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP LCD. Most professional electronic sites give this monitor a 'good' review. My concerns were people pointing out the Pinkish/Blue color and input lag. Once I read it had input lag it became a deal breaker.

Dell UltraSharp U2410 LCD. A few marked improvements capture my attention, particularly since the input lag was addressed. The minor concern here is RGB preset dithering when viewing gray colors. The dithering isn't a total deal breaker, but if someone has this monitor I'd like to know just how 'bad' it may be. Also there were a few complaints about anti-glare.

I've not found anything else in the $300 to $400 price that exceeds the U2410 capabilities or I/O's. I may be willing to push the budget to $500 if the right monitor comes along.

Just grab a 24" 1080p 2ms ASUS from newegg.

Cannot beat the Dell U2410.  Its an IPS display with a large contrast ratio and descent size in your price range.  If you were spending thousands, then there are other options.

As I read more about it, it does seem to be about on target with what I want. TheHatter's suggestion was very nice to. I'll need to go by a store that has one so I can see it up close and in action.

I honestly can't see the reason for spending sooo much on a monitor.

I got my 720p 22" 2ms ASUS last year and I love it. The graphics look amazing! When I play games on my  1080p TV from my PC, they look even better, but not that much better.

The difference is Image Quality between an IPS and a TN Panel.  With TN Panel its limited to 6 bit color.  With an IPS you get a full range of color and you don't lose the bright levels when looking at it from the sides.

An IPS is ideal in content creation like in Graphics design.  For gaming a TN Panel with an LED backlight would probably be more ideal because it doesn't cost as much, and has a better refresh rate and contrast ratio.

I was recently tasked at work to find replacement monitors for our stereographics workstation network of roughly 40 workstations.  We're transitioning from CRT's to LCD which in the past only a CRT could give you 3d stereo graphics in full framed sequential (which is strongly desired, if not required for long hours of digital stereo extraction)

We tried out a few monitors that wouldnt really be practical for gaming, workstation only and they had some flaws.  Recently we tried out 2 monitors: The Viewsonic VX2265wm FuHzion and the Samsung 2233RZ.  Both are 22 Inch, both capable of 120hz.

Our choice was the Samsung 2233RZ.  Ive seen many many monitors and this thing is by far top dog.  Sure you can get larger monitors, but none of them perform like this monitor does nor can it do the things this monitor can do flawlessly.  I wouldnt just suggest this monitor for 3d stereo either, overall its pretty much the cream of the crop as far as LCD monitors go.  They dont make anything larger currently that can compare to this.

I really appreciate all the input. When I started looking around I didn't realize how much of a challenge this was going to be. Most reviews and customer(s) feedback demonstrated that there wasn't any one particular monitor that captured people's attention. Even when I spoke to trusted friends, who also work in the industry, even they couldn't agree on any one model. Ugh!!!

I'm still leaning towards the Dell Ultrasharp U2410 as it not only fulfills my gaming needs, but also will help with Photo and video work I'll be doing. It was discouraging watching the CNet review (Dell Ultrasharp U2410), because like my general research there just wasn't any happy mediums or areas of compromise.

I couldn't have imagined it would be this complex to find a monitor. Again, I do appreciate the time you guys took as I know how much time I've spent on this.
