4 downloads later from fileplanet.. still no go... fileplanet does not even have all the right files for some reason.. 

1st download: Missing Installer Tome 2 & 5
2nd download: Missing Installer Tome 4 & 5
3rd download: Missing Installer Tome 1 & 5

So now I have all the tomes except 5.. which fileplanet apparently doesn't have.  Installing the program prompts a "Please insert Disc 2" error when I get to terrain.mpq.

...  Blizzards offical reply was "uninstall your previous version and then reinstall again".... despite the fact that I've told them TWICE that I'VE NEVER HAD A PREVIOUS INSTALLATION!

I have yet to be able to unpack the thing without at least 1 of my files being corrupted...  now on my 4th attempt to install the program,  I apparently need to insert disk 1 instead of disk 2...

So now I have to mix and match files from 4 different downloads... and I have to download yet again in hopes of getting the files that should have been there in the first place... kinda like fitting a puzzle together.. gotta find that elusive tome 5.

Bittorrent is cooking along downloading at 3kb/second... been downloading for two days...  20% complete... which means that sometime during the 2008 elections I'll be installing.

I have DL the client twice, once yesterday morning and again this morning (for a second comp) both from Fileplanet, both in under 2 hours.  No problems with install...though it took a bit of time on my 2nd machine to install. (1.4 gig cpu)  But both are up and running wow fine.

ps - I'd use FP's dl servers over bit torrent any day! (IMO)

I thinkyou should try this:

1. Delete the downloaded install files before downloading a new one. In your case delete the innstalations that don't work.

2. Send an Email to Fileplanet, where you ask them to send you the missing file, or send a email to blizzard.

3. Ask around on some official blizzard forums, there you can ask Blizzard Staff, or ppl with the same problem.

4. Try using some other programs to unzip your DL file. Maybe the program has problems reading/or can't find the files.

5. Go crasy. Trow you computer off Empire State Building.

You might wanna check and see if you have a check mark beside the "Use Folder Names" in your unzip window.  The archive creates a few folders under the folder you unzip to.  My guess is the installer looks for those folders and can't find them.

ya i remember there being a problem with a winzip version as well

Last ST test if you had wrong version of Winzip it doesnt unrar it its runs it from the rar... thus fubaring the installation.

 You need to unzip with WinZip 9, because with WinRar (in my case) it got a lot of errors

Winzip 9 seems to be the key that unlocks all of the perfect downloads, because without winzip 9, errors will occur, inevitably.

When I had the insert the 2nd disc errror all I did was find the directx folder and the mac install folder from my other machine and copy it to the same directory as the wow install and the mpq files. Then it worked!
