Game won't launch? Help!

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

From time to time, I make the MMO rounds.  I'm not really into a specific game, so I just download trials to all the games out there and see how they've changed since I last played them, or give some a go for the first time.  Having just finished up an EQ2 trial (which was more fun than I expected), I decided I'd give Vanguard a shot.  I downloaded it, updated it, then launched it...or tried to.

 

The Station Launcher simply says "Launching Game," and then minimizes itself, and then nothing happens.  I've tried doing file checks, restarting the program and my computer, same result every time.  What's the deal here?  I'm in Windows 7, and I easily exceed the Reccomended System requirements.  I just want to try it out :(

    As you can imagine there could be a many different reasons the game is not launching.

    I would suggest looking in the Vanguard directory and look for log files.

    Typically this would be under Program files (x86)SonyVanguard

    There should be a VGClient log file which captures all of the initializing that takes place every time you start Vanguard.

    Under the Bin directory there might be a vgcrashlog file.

    Hopefully you might be able to gleam some kind of useful information from one of these logs and then you can go to the Vanguard support forum

    Try start as adminstrator or you can delete some files. Cant remember which it is.

    I managed to figure it out.  I was nosing around in the Program Files, and I tried launching the game straight from its .exe.  When doing it that way, I got an error box that wasn't popping up with the Station Launcher.  The game needed me to install DX9 (I only had DX11 installed).  So now DX9 has been installed and it launched just fine.

    You can also trying running the game with the vanguard launcher instead of the sony launcher.
