i give it 3 to 6 months at most before QOL goes bankrupt. Interest in the game is more than low and the game itself is a joke. Seriously...are they expecting this game to survive the competition?

Did they trick anyone into buying it?
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.
I give it 4 months, tops. By that time the few folks who actually purchased it will realize that Dave and his team are completely unable to save this turkey, and will quit in disgust.
This game is barely out of alpha as it is, and they expect people to pay full price for it. Boggles the mind.
Hope not, but the old saying goes "A fool and his money are soon parted.", and anyone buying this game would have to be a fool.
It will last long enough and have enough "box sales" to give the investors a return on their investment. Possibly a minimal profit. That's all these companies do these days.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
...You're joking, right?
Games like AOC and WAR didn't get enough "box sales" to get their production money back, and they both had just under 1 mil sales in the first month
I played the beta a couple of weeks ago and it didn't seem anywhere close to finished. I can't see this being anything other than a flop.
.
I'm guessing it will be around for longer then a year. You gotta figure that it couldn't have been too expensive to develop, since a lot of it was thieved from WOW. That probably saved them considerable money in development costs.
If it didn't cost them much to develop and they are a small indie team, it could stick around for awhile with a low playerbase.
Currently Playing: DAOC Uthgard
Previously Played: UO, DAOC, Shadowbane, AC2, SWG, Horizons, COX, WOW, EQ2, LOTRO, AOC, WAR, Vanguard, Rift, SWTOR, ESO, GW2.
less then a month
With all that last minute changes like removal of head start period, lowering the price for client & sub and giving away free months of playtime for pre-ordered accounts as compensation, the QOL-Team can be glad if they survive the launch.
The sudden price lowering smacks of desperation, the need to disassociate the less than AAA game quality from AAA pricing, or both.
Oddly enough this launch has been one of the smoothest I've seen... Everything is just working. The last patch they pushed out right before launching made a crazy difference in stability it seems. The starting areas area pleasantly full without being TOO crowded and everyone seems quite happy with a definite lack of immature people.
Sure, they changed the pre-order period up and dropped prices but we are being compensated for it. To me it makes sense for them to drop the cost for the first few months while getting things solidified. Seems like they are the first company willing to recognize people are paying to play an unfinished game and change pricing to reflect that.
So lets see, 1.5 hours late beta ending, 3 hours late launch, no headstart, price slash out of nowhere, some pre order bonuses not even given, then game down for hours on the first day. Smooth...
Also im pretty sure they knew the price slash was coming, but instead of having to refund they kept it until launch and then compensate with more months which is pretty much like giving not much of a choice but to play the game because the devs are in desperation of players.
So, compared to massive server failures (darkfall for instance) or an assload of loot lag and overall performance issues (wow right after launch) here there's a launch that was delayed a couple of hours to fix a last minute crash problem and, in regards to technical issues, that's it. I'll let you make your own decisions on that.
I don't understand what you mean about some pre-order bonuses not being applied. I got everything I should have and so did everyone I know. The way these people handle customer service I'm sure anyone that was missing something most certainly had the problem fixed within 15-20m of reporting it.
Please, name a single mmo company that gives cash refunds for anything. I don't think you'll be able to come up with much.
Also name any mmo company that has, generally, a less than 15m turn around on problems.. I think the list will only contain 1.

Don't waste your time Gabby-air, this guy is either an employee of QOL or an employee of a marketing firm hired by QOL.. Account was made 2 weeks ago and all 12 of their posts are positive comments about Alganon.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
Where have I seen that game? I thought it was kinda funny.
Or... wow... I could just be enjoying the game along with all the other people logged in and playing. I created an account when I got tired of just reading all the stuff being posted on here with very little positive feedback to balance it out. It's quite a shame.
well as it stands resubbing wow 3 months in advance and it would be worth more then this garbage game its a total wow ripoff and not even a good one
Noone here said that you are forbidden to enjoy the game. But you simply cannot deny the fact that when the 98% of ppl gives really NEGATIVE feedback then SOMETHING is wrong. Even the devs know it and make all those last minute PANIC moves.
Btw yesterday was the 1st of december. Did QOL send you your monthly payment?
My brain has 2 sides;Left and right. My left side has nothing right and my right side has nothing left...
I've seen all this back and forth bickering about this game, so I decided to head over to their website to see how much the game costs. But it appears that I can't even view the payment structure without "making an account"? I simply want to know what the costs are.... anyone?
stuff and things
$20 for client, $9.99/month but i believe this is for a limited time.
Yeh maybe there's no point in arguing with you like others said, but i generally post back atleast once to support my post.
The only people who will play this game are the ones who loved it in beta, first off, it didn't have any real hype to it. No major gaming site even has mention of it's launch. Second, I can absolutely say the servers aren't packed with players. You barely saw anyone on during the free trial -- I mean beta. Then slashing the price reeks of desperation. The funniest thing is, and I hate to say it, the only person defending this game is ksmith, that's it. For a huge site like this (mmorpg.com), shouldn't there be a few people on the forums talking about why the launch is so great, not just one person? I mean even Darkfail and Craphammer online have tons of players that will tell you how great those games are. One single lone voice in a sea of hundreds shouting the game is great -- sorry something is wrong with that. Perhaps delusions?
Also, the gateway to even buying the game is obtrusive. Who wants to sign up to a social networking site just to check the price of the game? Oh, that's right, they are trying the shamefully hide the mistake they made. Also, I love how you praise them for doing what no other game company who launched a buggy game has done, and I am not sure what that is. They are still charging for the game and have a monthly fee. Don't confuse realization with marketability and genuine caring. Companies are in the business of ramming it up your ass and taking your money. No matter what they tell you. All you are to QoL, Blizzard, Turbine or any other company is a walking ATM. They don't feel guilt or care about you, they lowered the price because their product is bad and the only way a bad product can get sales is by being the "cheaper" alternative. You don't buy Generic Cereal Puffs for the same price as Cocoa Puffs for a reason. So in essence, by lowering their price QoL is pretty much saying -- we are the generic trailer park MMO.
Woo boy, lets go out back and shoot some rats and drink some moonshine!
(Sorry this was my launch day rant! It had to be done... also, since the only real way to verify anything ksmith says as untrue is to pruchase the game, I am going to say he is infact an employee of QoL, and a very clever one at that. He knows the depth of hate people have for this game, so by telling them "tons of people" are playing is it goading them into purchasing the game at the reduced price just to check thus giving QoL more money and claiming higher numbers than they should have. Very clever indeed.)

Lol, says Mr "I've been registered for 3 more days than the guy I'm having a go at".
I can't believe some of the shit that spews from the mouths of cretins about games they've never played. We get judgements from haters saying that the game is over-priced and shouldn't be the same price as WoW, and then when QoLs marketing goes along the same track they get dubbed as desperate, all by people who looked at a couple of screenshots and noticed the similarities (albeit obvious) between trees in Alganon and those from the Barrens in WoW. That pretty much qualifies people to STFU and do some research or at least try the game before spouting opinionated drivel that no-one cares for.
Attacking the launch also draws a chuckle or 2 from me. When I picked up WoW about 18 months after it launched it STILL had massive stability issues that almost made me give it away. Comparitively, from what I hear, Alganon's launch has been relatively smooth for an MMO.
Finally, I've never understood why fanbois (i.e wankers) feel the need to come to a forum and trash a game and its fans. Are they actually threatened by the fact that people are playing a game they've chosen not to like? Don't get me wrong, play the game, do a review and highlight the flaws, that I care to read and it may actually sway my opinion far more than the nonsense I just read in this thread.
I dont think they will last at all,
