I have to say I decided to buy this game on steam(UK) yesterday.

I tried to download via the trial .exe but kept timing out and restarting.  I downloaded via Steam which took about 7 hours (around 248kb/s) and had some problems starting up.  I found out I needed to copy the Fallen Earth folder from my steamapps folder to Program Files which did not take long.  I had a 540mb patch to download and finally at 9pm last night, I managed to login, woot.

The information he has provided is priceless.  I also strongly recommend downloading the shortkey .pdf from the main site.  You spend a lot of time switching weapons (ctrl+123456) which I did not know until I downloaded the .pdf.

I created a male and female character.  A lot of people have moaned about the faces which I agree with.  Most changes are the size of the nose and top lip which is odd.  Customisation other than that is fairly easy to master and is not bad

Once you are in the game, check your graphics settings.  The game does look a bit bland with the quality set on medium or lower and without shadows.  I am level 3 at the moment, so not far in.  The help channel is bombarded with people needing help and some people slating the game.  I have seen GM (Pepper) twice lock down the channel to confirm the channel is for helping only and not general chit-chat, which is fair enough.

Combat is a little twitchy.  The AI paths seem a little off but I am sure will be improved in future patches.  My fav. setup is twin pistols, fire all 16 shots (8 each), just before reloading, switching to 2x garden spades (yes spades!).  They are quick and I keep pressing the left and right mouse buttons till my target is dead :)
