Gosh, not often can you read comments by gamer folks that aren't juvenial and offensive. This alone might make one consider playing or at least trying Eve. I do play but not very well. and it does have a massive learning curve. I have been playing for over a year and due to diffent circumstances and situations have'nt been able to find a corp to hang with. So basically I have soloed the whole time and must admit, I am quite noobish in my comprehention of the game. Now most of my training takes about three weeks so playing Dragon Age in between.  :)

Have a groovy day yall

Here's my advice: stop* thinking like this.

The time taken to train your character to fly a new ship is small compared to the amount of time you, personally will take to fly it really well. The only way to succeed in and get good at EvE is to play EvE.

*As soon as you've finished Dragon Age, that is. But as soon as that's done, then stop.

I played Eve for a bout a year before I finally decided to take the plunge into a 0.0 corp.

My advice to you is dont!

Joining a Corp and moving to 0.0 has completly changed Eve from something which is boring to something which is incredibly addictive.  While I am glad that I spent that time in highsec skill training I am frustrated that I didnt spend that time learning about life in 0.0,  I would be 10 times richer and 10 times better at pvp by now.

I'm so annoyed at myself for wasting all that time, doing what? Poncing around in highsec doing missions? Chatting to other noobs in the NPC Corp ?

The only thing Im gratfull for is that I did actually make some good friends.

Good friends are one of the most priceless assets you can acquire in EvE. That's not just a cheesy saturday morning film cliche. It's the plain truth. I'm not saying that friendship doesn't have it's price for many, but even in EvE people who betray their friends for anything less than an outstanding take are routinely mocked, because they have done a dumb thing.

(Betraying strangers for pennies is of course just fine and laudible)

same thing goes for any mmo you play. If you don't join a guild/clan/corp/legion/any other damn name they have you are only doing at most half the game.
