I wrote some emails in regards to EQ2 beta. It was mentioned several times "long time legends subscribers, followed by those who purchased Lords of Everquest and finally long time EQ subscribers. I have always updated my emails, account info just so I wouldnt miss this, yet now the game will be released and still no email for the beta.
Can anyone answer as to why an account that was created only one month after Everquest was release and signed up for EQ2 beta was overlooked?
Also,
"The EverQuest II Beta is proceeding extremely well. Weve been running the English, French and German beta servers and have been really happy to see the responses from not only the people in North America, but also our friends in the UK, France and Germany. Soon well be opening up another English server, begin the open phase of our beta and lift the NDA."
This was written by John Smedley so when is open beta again? I see the NDA lifted but no mention of open beta? Instead every game site out and PC gamer gave away the accounts.
"PC Gamer has teamed up with Sony Online Entertainment to allow a select group of readers into the EverQuest 2 beta test! Subscribers started receiving their copies of the magazine today, but on June 1st, the issue will be on newsstands. Pick up a copy for your chance to participate in the EverQuest II beta. "
I couldnt find the post where it was stated on EQ2's website that 30,000 beta testers were playing. That means 1/3 of them are PC gamer readers give or take. I found that post here it is
"
EverQuest II Beta NDA Lifted
As of now, the NDA for the EverQuest II Beta is officially lifted. We encourage our beta testers to share the experiences theyve had in beta with the rest of the EverQuest II community. Many more people who enrolled in the EverQuest II beta program can expect beta keys in their inboxes in the very near future. In addition, in the past few weeks weve let the Legends and Lords of EverQuest players and we would like to thank them for their support. We now have 4 Beta servers up and running including 1 French and 1 German server and weve let in over 30,000 players since July. In the near future that number will grow far past that. Keep an eye on your inbox! "
This was on oct 31st 2004, I am sure I am not the only one who somehow missed out on this. Looks like sony is up to their usual tricks and therefore I will not be buying EQ2. Others should do the same. Many posts on websites have stated that if you played DAOC you will have a much easier time than those who just played EQ1
I do have to say that after 5 years of EQ I had a great time and met many new friends in game and out. Good luck to you all. I will probaly finish out my subscription and not renew it.
