Finally, outside of the complaints about bots and the RMT vermin, perhaps the biggest criticism from our players comes in relation to the pacing, experience curve, item drops, and overall difficulty and risk vs. reward in Aion current gameplay. I'm glad to share some preliminary responses from the Development Team and affirm to you their willingness to address these issues. Obviously, data tuning on a live MMO isn't something you do carelessly, and it will take some time to fully implement. In the near future, we hope to deploy a short-term enhancement to address some of concerns that you have told us about across the board. We're currently testing some game variables to increase experience gain and other factors. We look forward to sharing some good news on this soon.

On another note another 26000 botters have been banned this morning.

Does levelling up faster make the gameplay more enjoyable?
Not sure, I don't play. I just see people bitching about the grinding.
WoW Seems to think it does, so why not right?
(For those of you not aware WoW keeps adding in "heirloom" items that increase exp gained on your next toon, as well as slashing the exp required to level every so often.)
If they removed the excessive grind and concentrated on pvp improvements I'd give the game another look.
I would rather level faster if alls I could do is grind on mobs. I would rather be max level and bored then being bored while leveling.
As with everything, it all depends on the player. For some, faster leveling is more enjoyable.

WoW is also 5 years old, they implemented stuff like this so new players/rerolls can catch up to the general population.
Im unsure how things are now but during CB my thought wasnt the need for more xp but for more quests to get the xp.

Tell tale sign of a bad game is one that pushes you THROUGH leveling up to get to the "real game" and just goes to show that people are so brainwashed into thinking they have to get to end game that they feel if exp doesn't go by instantly it needs to be sped up.

I never understood the logic of paying for a game and the monthly fees, only to rush rush rush through what you paid for to quickly get into end game. For me, this is a complete waste of money.

For some, the part of the game they enjoy most is the fortresses and PvP. In their case, the faster they get to that point, the better as that is what they are paying to play.

Lots pf people rush through mmos because they actually dont really enjoy them at all. They do however find the leveling up process addictive (addiction is a form of fun) because it makes them feel as though they are working towards something.......something that is waiting for them at the end of the leveling process. In Aions case its the pvp and keep battles that people are trying to get to. Once they reach max level they are free from the level grinding treadmill and can wander around doing whatever they like. I would imagine that would seem like quite a relief. The rest of it is literally just a process that they have to push there way through to get there. Who in their right mind would play any of these repetitive games purely for fun if the levelling process wasnt there? Without the rewards of levels and gear there is little reason to put yourself through such an endurance test.
Thats what games like this are all about - chasing the next carrot. If you dont give the player a carrot quick enough however then they might give up and go and play another game where they receive a faster supply of carrots. Thats why NC Soft are looking at speeding up the leveling process. Without a steady stream of rewards to distract the player, they run the risk of having their players "wake up" and realise how bored they actually are. Feed them carrots fast enough though and they will fall back under the spell of the level grinding addiction.
For you it may well seem like a waste of money......but then what do you gain from taking your time? You certainly dont save any money from doing so. Ultimately it makes no difference if a player rushes through a game or takes his time. If a player completes a game quickly then they just jump onto another one and carry on paying the same amount of money......except it goes to a different company. Fast or slow, its all the same.
