It will go on Test Live within the next couple weeks for everyone to test the hell out of, then it will be there for a couple weeks of testing before it is put out live.
And then when it goes live, they'll spend two months fixing all the problems created by the update.
Standard AoC fare.
Kinda funny you jump all over people for trolling threads and yet here you are going negative in a simple information update thread.
I liked AoC's premise and world when it came out but had a few issues and was wondering if any of these things have changed with any prior updates or will change with this one.
1. Quests, do you still run out in the mid-levels or is their enough content to make it to max level without grinding?
2. Armor. Do your looks really change before you start raiding now?
3. Combat bugs. Have they fixed all the skills spells? I know that you used to have to keep using some prior level skills until the next level ones caught up, damage-wise. Do skills/spells have the right damage now?

Not negative at all, it is simply the reality of how FunCom pushes out AoC patches and I felt like expressing my feelings on the matter (I saw the comments on patching and the test server, so figured there was no harm in it).
If you choose to view it as negativity I cannot stop you, however, that wasn't my intent just for the record. I simply had something to say, so I said it.
It wasn't directed at anyone, I didn't make any rude comments, didn't insult anyone or insult the game itself. I just posted my observations on one particular aspect of AoC that I have an issue with. Nothing more and nothing less.
Regardless, there is no denying that FC has had the sketchiest patches with AoC of any mmorpg to date. They patch, and then they spend an enormous length of time patching the patch to get everything back in completely working order, that is an undeniable fact with literally reams of evidence to back it up.

If you played back during launch, the game is quite different now.
They have added several new zones including Ymirs Pass and The Commons as well as several new instances in each zone. I went from 1-80 without grinding and still had about 25 quests in my log when I dinged 80.
Armor is fine really for the most part. With how easy it is to get into groups for the mid level raids, you will have a nice new set each 10-15 levels or so. Also with the fact now that Conqs and DT's can wear plate, it opens up some new options for looks.
I have 2 caster, Demo and Necro and havnt seen any issues with the spells not updating correctly.
Sieges really look broken to me. This looks like an AWEFUL event, so please stay away... NOT!!!
No offense intended....
But why pretend that screenshot is current, or even has real players in it? That screenshot is pre-release taken before August 27th, 2007 (you know, just about 7 months before the game ever released.)It was done with strictly AI and scripting, there arent actual players in it at all. It was done, taken and distributed at the Leipzig Games Convention.
If you are going to share info about the game, why not show a current screenshot of what a siege looks like? Maybe taken from your own experience would be great, and show people the current state of the game. If people are really interested, it'd would be honest to show 'em what's current, instead of implying that this is a player event.
FYI....
Linkage There is a link for it in a blog from late August '07, (it was cropped there, but you can identify it easily by matching up the guy in blue on the left hand side of the screen) this way we can establish that it is over two years old, and has very little to do with players in game, or an acutal siege, and is simply a scripted event.

Are they really adding a new race in the expansion? Thats the first I've heard of them actually adding a new race and if its true then that would be cool, but... can anyone confirm?

Yes they are adding a new race, Khitan, that's Chinese/Asian to you and me. The new race will start in Tortage like everyone else, but with their own questline. After completing Tortage it's off to Khitai for a short time, before heading out into the wider world, Cimmeria, Stygia, Aquilonia. Finally back to Khitai higher level quests.
Looks like the quests for the wolf and tiger mounts will be in Khitai, well, the tiger at least. Imo the wolf quest should really be housed in Cimmeria. We'll see...

Ten-Ton Hammer just came out a Q & A Session with Craig Morrison involving UPDATE 6 which hit TestLive yesterday afternoon.
Digging into the Renown system
Time, the measurement of which ultimately controls everything about our lives, seems to be in an increasingly short supply. Nowhere, in the gaming world at least, is time more critical, and more of a factor in success, than in the MMOG. Games, and the developers who make them, are given precious little of the aforementioned quantity with which to meet the high expectations of their exceedingly fickle fan bases. While many recent releases have either pulled the plug or settled into a defacto acceptance of their product’s station in the gaming hierarchy, a couple titles have risen to the challenge and aggressively fought to keep their games moving forward and recapturing some of the launch day magic. Funcom’s Age of Conan is leading that charge with sweeping additions and a new expansion, Rise of the Godslayer, in the works. We sat down recently with Craig Morrison, the games Director and Executive Producer to talk about the renown system and other changes in store for the game
Age of Conan may at last be moving toward the game it should have been.
I'm not a fan of Morrison, I think he's riding on Gaute's original vision, but at least he's wielding the lash and getting things done, of note is the Guild PvP arena....Now, why didn't Morrison see to it that drunken brawling was included there, thus putting to bed one of AoC's promised features which never materialised.
Most likely just not enough people to implement the smaller things. With 1.06, the expansion as well as Secret World, they are most likely stretched thin. With 1.06 shocking a lot of people on test live with not being full of bugs, it seems they worked really hard to get it right this time.

There was something else in the patch notes that gave an indication that Drunken Brawling was still on the horizon, if not in this patch, then in a forthcoming one. There was a new feature that lended itself to implementing this feature. I will go back and see if I can refind that reference.
