Well this has been one hell of a season and a perfect example why there should be a playoff. Just finished watching the Big 12 champ game and dam was it good. I so wanted Nebraska to pull off that upset as I think UT will get blown out by Bama in the title game. TCU imo will stand a much better chance. It was painful watching that last drive and seeing Texas get 55 free yards from penatlys. Im sure Colt sealed his heisman tonight and he deserves it. At least for his  last few season I don't know about this one.

Well Bama will no doubt be the undisputed #1 when the polls come out tomorrow. Even if Texas moves to #2 no way anyone other then Mac will put them #1. Who do yall think will step in to the #2 and take on Bama in the title game?

FAIL POLL

Ok I forgot Texas so just post it if you think they will go.

BCS is BS.   OK said that.   Now as for the last games we watched tonight.    I swear some of those games were purposely thrown or were fixed by someone.    I mean come on tell me I am wrong here.   This whole season was a farce.   Some of the top teams from the SEC. ACC and Big 10 are way over rated.   I am about to give up on the whole college football thing.

Umm Texas beat Nebraska, Texas will play Bama in Pasadena. But really, they need at least 16 team tourny. Really, Cinci is another BCS school along side with Texas. However, they value the how good that confrence is. The Big 12 is considerally better than the Big East. I am really for a college football tourny.

By the way. My Cats beat UNC in a great game and watch out, since 1997, we are a threat. Also, Oregon is finally in the Rose Bowl were the true beasts belong. Beat that buckeye ass!

    Lets breakdown  Texas's schedule.

    Louisiana-Monroe 6-6 unranked

    Wyoming 6-6 unranked

    Tech 8-4 unranked for now

    UTEP 4-8 unranked

    Colorado 3-9 unranked

    OU 7-5 unranked

    Missouri 8-4 unranked

    OSU 9-3 #20 BCS

    UCF 8-4 unranked

    Baylor 4-8 unranked

    Kansas 6-7 unranked

    Texas A&M 6-6

Nebraska 9-4 #22 BCS as of today will drop tomorrow

One team on this list finishes the regular season in the BCS. Close in games they shouldn't have been and a bad schedule.(though it should have been one of the toughest)  Though imo only Bama put off a tough schedule. Even TCU's was weak though I think they can handle Bama better then UT, I mean just look at what Utah did.

No I understand your point clearly. I don't think Texas deserves it as well. I really think they need to look what Division ll does with their playoff system. I really think TCU should go. Maybe if they take a real good look at it TCU will go and then maybe they would consider a playoff.

how did colt mccoy lock up the heisman last night? he wasnt playing that good and he threw 3 interceptions..if anything he hurt his chances. mark ingram is the guy who deserves it..189 total yards and 3 rushing touchdowns against the number #1 ranked defense in college football is pretty impressive. texas is gonna get blown out by bama.

It's hard for me to believe Bama blew out UF like they did. What a game plan. Well executed from coaches and players alike. I was also hoping for the upset in the Bi 12. I woulda liked to have seen Bama and TCU. Oh well, guess the SEC gets to teach the Big 12 how to play football.......again this year.

Yeah the Big 12 is rebuilding. I see this year like 1999. OU doesn't do so hot gets a ok bowl game and we move on. Then the next year we go undefeated and win it all. Just need to get some experience on the offense(healthy players would help too)

I think my eyes are playing up on me. Did I see someone outside of Texas mention TCU? Nobody outside Texas knows about TCU! At least that's what TCU and the local papers say.

Just saw the bowl selections. Good gracious does it get any duller with these weak ass selections/matchups?

Well the BCS match ups are all pretty strong. OU v Stanford should be a great game, I think Nebraska and Oklahoma State both got good matchups. I do think USC's suck though. Otherwise thats all I've seen.

I agree that the ACC sucks. But the Big 10 isn't really that bad... maybe kind of bad in recent years.

This is the strongest conference year end and year out in order

    SEC

    Big 12/Pac 10

    Pac 10/Big 12

    Big Ten/ACC

    ACC/Big Ten

The SEC will always be on top and each conference fluctuates every year but will stand within a 1-2 seed interval.

    Go Oregon!

The ACC sucks? Stop listening to the media you sheeple. If you look at the unbias BCS computer rankings you can find the ACC ranked as high as third. The ACC also went 4-4 against the SEC last year. How is that possible if the SEC is so great and the ACC is so terrible? It's possible because the ACC is fine. Admittidely this year though the ACC is down.

Let's take a look at the all time bowl win stats:

    Pac10: 118-102-6 (.535)
    SEC: 190-166-13 (.533)
    ACC: 149-135-5 (.524)
    Big East: 54-54-2 (.500)
    Big12: 153-163-4 (.484)
    Big 10: 115-123-3 (.483)

    Source: http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/7628/conference-bowl-records

Also the SEC is not the best conference every single year. They have been the last few, but do not make it seem like it has been that way forever and will never change. Go back to the early 2000s and 90s. The SEC wasn't as highly thought of. The main reason the SEC gets so much talk now is because ESPN signed a deal to televise most SEC games. So they pump up the SEC as much as they can to boost ratings.

cmon man..dont even compare the ACC with the SEC.  2 of our mid level teams South Carolina and Georgia beat the 2 best teams in the ACC and not to mention Florida destroyed Florida State..not saying ACC football sucks but still not on the level of the SEC. the past 3 national champions are in the SEC. and when Alabama beats Texas that will make 4 in a row..and yes the SEC is the best conference every year

Interesting statistics. Now, let's look at the all-time bowl appearances:

    Pac-10: 225

    SEC: 369

    ACC: 289

    Big East: 110

    Big 12: 320

    Big 10: 241

Looks to me like the SEC is the best overall conference, followed by the Big 12, then the ACC.

  • ArndurArndur Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 2,202

The SEC is more of a recent thing with the only long time power house being Bama. For modern football(since AP poll in 1936) the Big 12 has won 18 NC and the SEC 17. 8 for the SEC are from Bama, with most of the rest coming in the last 20 years. Going on to show their more recent surge in power in the fact they have 5 BCS titles with the Big 12 having 2 and others at just one. IMO the SEC sticks to playing itself and I have not seen Bama or Florida take on any tough out of conference games. Arkansas takes on a Big 12 team every year it seems like but over all the Pac 10, Big 10, and Big 12 have tougher out of conference play.

The SEC does have some of the best teams. That doesn't mean every team is awesome though (Vandy). And like I said this year was bad, GT and Clemson lost to two mediocre SEC teams. The only reason the ACC catches so much crap is because they play the SEC more than any other conference. It's so easy to directly compare them to the new media darling, SEC. The rest of the conferences benefit from not having to play the SEC as much. The media and fans can use various methods (common opponents, stats) to argue they are better without actually playing.

Total bowl appearances is a terrible stat to indicate a good conference. It is bias towards conferences with more teams. Not all conferences are the same size. Who cares if you go to more bowls? The ACC had more bowl teams (I think 10) last year than any other conference by far but few cared. All it means is that the conference beats up on each other.

TCU is playing BSU in the Fiesta Bowl...OMG that game is going to rock.    I wish TCU would have been playing Alabama though.   Texas should be playing Boise.    BCS is so screwed up though.    The way things are set up TCU nor BSU or other non-BCS based teams will probably never play an SEC team and I seriously doub the BCS will ever let a non-BCS team play for a national title.  :(

  • ZindaihasZindaihas Member UncommonPosts: 3,662

Well the Ohio State Buckeyes got the BCS bowl game slump and "can't beat a top ten team" monkey off its back.  And Terrelle Pryor has started firing on all cylinders.  Their Rose Bowl victory yesterday was the perfect win to launch them on their quest for a National Championship next season.  With the talent they'll be returning and Pryor being a legitimate Heisman candidate, they'll be in the running as much as any team in the country.  All of college football better fear Ohio State.

    THE BUCKEYES ARE BACK BABY!!!
