Like it or not, I think that it is great that some games with a very different system and feeling are coming out.
I am not so sure that this is my cup of tea but some of the feats are very nice. I hope more devs stop remaking Everquest and start doing their own thing.
Most of the new thinking games will probably suck but if a few is good the genre will gain a lot. How this game will do is still anybodys guess.
And BTW, Bethesda is already working on a MMO and it is at least likely that it is Elder scrolls online so there will probably be a real Oblivion based MMO.
Originally posted by busdriver I was actually referring to the video itself, it's almost exact copy of an old DF promo vid.
Ah, sorry. thought you were blind there
But to be honest it also looks a lot like videos for both AoC and TCoS, I guess it is hard to make unique videos (if this is an official one) or that people just have bad imagination.

I think it also look like one of the first promotion videos from EQ2. What makes them feel simular is ... nice music and text explaining what the game is about. I think those videos are as they should be like. This video is not made by a Star Vault employee thou, but by a player. But the important part is that it tries to explain what he game is about. I think it do that fairly well.
So everyone knows that video was made by a fan who wants to submit it for a contest that they are having over on the Mortal Online forums. He did it in a promo vid style and copied an old DF promo vid and has been called out on it.
It could be exceptional, but who knows when they'll finally launch it. In the meantime, you could try out Darkfall, which is a similar game with the same premise. Plus, it's already gone through a year of growing pains, and is improving.

I have tried DF, it wasn't fun. DF isn't a game for me. I play the MO beta and have more fun there than I have ever have had in DF.
Why? What's different between the two that makes MO more entertaining than DF, I'd be interested in your thoughts. So far I see two very similar games except I doubt MO is as well developed as DF is right now. (graphics aside, those do not matter to me)

Darkfall isn't very well developed....
Well, I haven't played either, but from what I've observed DF has:
Ships and ship combat.
Player housing
Keeps and large scale keep battles.
Mounted Combat
Crafting/Gathering
Does MO have all those features in the beta now?
No need to troll, give specifics of why MO is superior to DF in its present state

Did you even check the video.
As the video said, MO have player housing, crafting, mounted combat, large battles even thou it's still beta and DF is a finish product.
FYI, it doesn't matter how many feats a game has if the feats is not fun and the game is not fun to play. Sometimes I wonder why you spend so much time hating MO when you know so little about it.
Yeah, it seams like the player have been inspired by the DF video.
But I have to say that this MO video is much much better done than that DF promotion video that half of the time just show concept arts and screenshot while the MO video shows real ingame clip.
Sure it might be a copy of the DF movie, but does that really matter? If you got excited watching the video whats the problem. Artists get ideas all the time from other artists, its not like its a professionally made video so I seriously don't understand what the problem is. That aside, it looks like the game is picking up and I can't wait till release so I can start playing (already own it, just don't want to burn myself out and have my character wiped)

I think YOU'RE exceptional!
- RPG Quiz - can you get all 25 right?
- FPS Quiz - how well do you know your shooters?
nice Oblivion online.
Not sure why it dosnt peak my interest maybe its to Realistic lol. That just for me. it look neat.
Nice Darkfall ripoff.
Oblivion that costs money to play. Awesome.
i'm so glad that people are "exceptional"

Uhm, did you really think that the game looked like DF?
Besides is it based on UO, and so is DF so in that case are they both ripoffs.
Stop complaining, the game could look like Wow instead.
Just what we need, another fantasy MMO.
SKYeXile
TRF - GM - GW2, PS2, WAR, AION, Rift, WoW, WOT....etc...
Future Crew - High Council. Planetside 1 & 2.
MO is inspired of UO. It's much better than DF. Here are some more videos:
Huergar Cave (patched i recently, but not fully implemented yet):

Mounted Combat ...

I am in the MO beta. It's really entertaining to play, even thou not all are in yet. Soon all will be in.

I think MO is far from DF. It's like two totally different games.
