wish EA would let mythic revive that Game and give Mythic exclusive rights to the Game.
I envision Old School Game play Before Atlantis. Mmm the good ole days.
Plus they put the game on that new Graphics Engine. Nothing like Spending Hours Defending a Castle or a Tower From some killer Seige.
That was the only Game that Gave me True heart pumping Action. The only Game i ever stood up and yelled at my PC. Nothing beats building a Character to Complete Perfection and its only You and your skill Fighting against Others.
PVP: 10/10
PVE: 7/10 < Dragon Raids were killer.
I love You Daoc and you will be forever missed.
P.S. it has a lack of players < why i dont play anymore>

There are many of us who would like to see DAOC revamped again. Unfortunatly EA probably wont let it happen.
Mythics new masters just are not interested. Too bad Mythic let EA buy it out. Just another bad decision, like making WAR instead of DAOC 2.
RIP DAOC.

Dragon raids were awesome! Having it's head stuffed and putting it in your guild hall or your own home!
Lets not forget darkness falls! <-- I loved that place at least, especially when side would travel the whole "underground" way to the others' side!
I promise, I promise to all that if I ever become wealthy, I wil buy the rights to Dark Age of Camelot and make a 2nd one or update the first and re-release it!
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
The real shock is that NO ONE has copied their RvR system. WTF? Seriously, I still don't get it. That RvR system has a bright neon sign attached to it that says THIS IS THE BEST MAINSTREAM PVP SYSTEM POSSIBLE!!! Just rip it off, make some needed improvements, then add a little more depth...that's it.
u guys do know that the merged all server together and are running like a modifed TOA server were u can just buy your ToA items and shit...
i dunno might be something to look into.. i was playing hon and a guy was talking about it and i to rememberd the good ol gate battles and shit..
and i also agree. y the F has no one tried to rip of the RVR style..
I agree it was probably the most enjoyable mmo I have ever played and I loved the rvr. The only issue I had witht he game was the botters. People using multiple accounts to buff their warriors and park their little healers in the frontier keeps where they were safe.
I was with you on this until I remembered what a pigs arse Mythic made of Warhammer Online....
On second thought lets not go back to Dark Age of Camelot, 'tis a silly place. (At least until Mythic grows their balls back)
"Gypsies, tramps, and thieves, we were called by the Admin of the site . . . "
Well i think most people that actually played Daoc would return for a second comming if they made it;) and i think alot of people from WoW would go there for the PvP;) but after seing what they did with Warhammer i dont have much hope imho, the players who loved to make games they themselves would love to play have gotten thier mind on the money instead of the fun in playing so until the revolution lets just sit back with fond memories of one of the best games ever made;)
DAoC/GW/Lotro/WoW/WAR/Rift/SWTor
You know, what killed DAOC for me was the instant portals. I respected the world when I had to travel, and I lost respect for it when I could blip here and there.
Same thing with EQ: loved the game when I had to travel or pay Druids for ports. Meant nothing once the Plane of Knowledge and it's numerous portals arrived.
I think what the devs miss is that "the world" is half the draw in these games. And the "world" takes a huge hit, just because the dev's add the minor convenience of faster travel.
Mythic was working on a classic Pre SI server. They polled the public and they had an overwhelming outpouring of support for a true classic server. Mark Jacobs said the massive outpouring of cheer for this new server blew him away.
He then later went on to say "not enough interest in a classic server" to try to wriggle his way out of doing it, so he could focus on WAR instead, guessing the monkies at EA had something to do with it. And so the classic server was dropped, Mythic was gutted, and the game is left to die.
It was dead a long time ago though, between the teleportation, the instances, /level 20, ToA, all slowly killed the game. /level20 most of all I think.
Darkfall Travelogues!
The Origins server would have brought a LOT of vets back, for a little while at least.
DAOC had a damn near perfect PvP design. I wish some one would take that, remove the pointless PvE grind, add crafting resources to the frontier, and add in the ability to siege an enemy realm. I'd sign on...
The servers are merged and there was 4k on Sunday there is a ton of action right now!
Audioslave
Midgard Skald
the problem is, most people aren't going to want to go back after years off(or go as a new player) knowing that they are 8 years behind people.
the server merge helped the population congregate but it didn't bring any fresh players into the game.
agreed though, best game i have ever played and wish a sequel would come out though im sure it would get screwed up somehow.
hehe thats very negative negativejoe but all good I understand what your saying but the game isnt hard to get back into well to me it wasnt but I wasnt gone long than maybe a year or 2 at most during the 8 years. All im saying is if you love daoc and ever have played it and want to the time is now there is plenty of action also you really wanna read the VN boards for DAOC because its the busy ones for this game! have fun!
The game is filled with xrealmers who take turns spamming their side's location to their real side on ventrillo. Stealth groups are especially vulnerable. For example, as an alb you would see an alb rogue class follow you and suddenly you'd have a vamp spamming stealth lore in a bard speed group crushing you in seconds off in the corner of the back end of some obelisk area.
So you get bumed about pvp and you go pve - my guild busted hump got to the 4 horsemen in Cair Sidi just to find it perma camped by a few necros a friar and a cleric. Get frustrated go to a Dragon raid - where the 20-100 plat template requirement gear drops just to see Quin Ping Po's gold farming guild still locked on the latest dragon pop.
I'm sure all three realms were suffering with all the above. On top of this crap - on Hib or Alb there wasn't hardly a single spot at 50 for grinding materials for crafting...or for pve leveling that wasn't on farm status lockdown by a handful of folks.
Then there was that whole wisp/water elemental dabacle - I'm not even going into that.
Was a great game in its time but no one treats DAoC moreso like a basement locked retarded love child between two siblings than does Mythic.
On the adverse, DAoC has some really hard core niche fans....and using every forum thread as an example where players beg for a new daoc or even a new fresh start server (Origins) because of the catch 22 of needing realm rank to do well and being farmed by realm rank 13s and well never being able to attain much realm rank...and the rage quitting..meh I'm ranting.
If you have a guild of high RR pals that play a lot - then I suppose the game is fun if you are into farming people who didn't know how hard it was to compete at 50.
give darkfall a try, its got alot of good pvp and your skill will determine youre outcome
Camelot in its current form is better than every single mmo with the exception of Eve (my opinion).
Even though it may not be the game of old it's still a really fun game and has some really active RvR.
Playing: Eve,Ryzom,AO
Waiting on: ER,GW2,TOR,MO
Retired:UO,EQ,AC,SWG,DAoC,L2,WoW,GW
Worthless: Lotro,EQ2,WAR,AoC, Aion
Doesn't take long to get to level 50, champion level 10, and a few realm rank levels to boot, 2 weeks max to achieve, if you're new to the game, once you hit 50 and have half decent gear, roam with your realm, or with your guild and it's alliance, and you make easy RP's. Oh, and you'll enjoy every moment of it too.

And this is the problem, doesn't take longer than 2 weeks to max level? this is why I wont play the current stool, DAoC was the greatist game since pong, it took time to hit max, 50 was an achevment. sry but the game is dead and the changes they made are why. I will agree its better than most options atm but that isn't saying its good enogh for my money.
Give me an origins server, where you *cant* solo to 50 in 2 weeks and I will happily pony up 60+ USD for the box set + 15 USD a month for the sub times 3 for the house hold but untill then I guess I will just have to remember the good old days and hope some one comes out with somthing playable soon, thinks for epicly sqrewing the pooch Mythic!!!!
That was part of the issue though. If you build the game around high level RvR, there's no point in having a massive PvE grind from 1-50. It serves no purpose. Let everyone level to 50 through battle grounds or some thing. You want MORE people in high level RvR, not just the few that stuck it out through 50 levels of mind numbingly boring, thoughtless, PvE.
